I'd say Classic Dragonball is more High Fantasy mixed with mild Martial Arts, with it veering more into harder action once King Piccolo enters the picture (Red Ribbon army stuff is still a bit fantastical and goofy considering its where we get characters such as Murasaki and Android 8 along with the Detour to Penguin Village for Dr.Slump Happy Crossover Time.)

Even the short amount of stuff in classic with Adult Goku is still more fantastical than anything out of Z which goes deep into Sci-fi stuff.

True, once transformations came into the picture I kinda lost interest when the next sayian level was the answer to any overpowered foe that showed up. Still I kinda liked the designs for Cell and Buu.

DBZ Abridged has restored my interest in the franchise a bit though. It's certainly more fun to watch than the real series for me at least.  XD

I'm just annoyed at DBZ for shooing out the clowns. Roshi, Launch and Oolong are fun and while they get some stuff in normal Z they're even more marginalized in Kai (Hell I think Launch is completely removed since her stuff in Z was all filler because Toriyama forgot about her, by the time he remembered her he didn't really use her again because of the sneezing thing.)

And I'm gonna be hella mad if we never get a Bulma figuarts. She's the most prominent female character for crying out loud.

I can still enjoy it though, I just prefer the original dragonball.

Hey she helped fuel the spirit bomb at the end there....or was that GT? >.>

...Yeah I missed Launch a lot.

That's Z.

And I think that's her only "canon" appearance.

That reminds me, need I to get back on DBZ Abridged. Think I left off around eps. 36 when new episodes weren't around and switched to Sailor Moon Abridged to kill time.

The main thing I remember about Launch was my surprise at how lenient the censors were with her. She was so vulgar and violent. And by violent, I mean how she would pretty much shoot everyone (in typical DB comic relief style). XD

Censors are much more protective with gun violence, nowadays.

Well Goku was immune to bullets so it was okay.

Everybody else, well i don't know.

Keep in mind the 80s and 90s weren't as strict with violence and stuff. Hence more dirty jokes, more blood, more flipping people off, more Krillin bribing Roshi with porn mags (including one that says HOMO on it), more Bulma flashing people. No holds barred

Even in its uncut form Kai's still a lot less violent than classic DBZ was anyway in regards to blood and whatnot.

Launch was one of my favorite supporting characters, I kinda forgot how much of a dick Tien was back then. XD

Yep, 80s and 90s cartoons got away with a lot of stuff.

However, there was the odd matter of the 90s Spider-Man cartoon, where they weren't allowed to show punching or glass breaking. They also weren't allowed to say "blood" and instead substituted the word for "plasma".

No one had real guns either, everything was lasers. EVERYTHING.

Also yeah, I prefer the original Dragon Ball run more as well.

I honestly didn't like therl art style of the 90‘s cartoon, I mean I know Peter got muscular when he got his Spidey powers but he was a freaking tank in that show.

Well there was plenty of stupid [parasitic bomb] like that. It wasn't perfect. Lots of cheap saves to avoid killing people or being too violent were common as well.

Same, which is why it baffles me when certain people claim it's far superior to Spectacular. I'm willing to bet some of them haven't even watched past the first episode, because the character designs "turn them off".

That also reminds me of their Spider-Man beat 'em ups.

-edit-
My memory served me right: Spidey was ripped in Maximum Carnage!
