By doing so, they're more likely to give you further instructions/information, than when you're being lectured.

I had one teacher that spouted so much nonsense and gibberish that the sign language interpreters couldn't understand what she was saying. One time, I had to leave the class because my brain hurt.

Ringman and I were talking about our bad teachers earlier. We both had one who was an absolute conspiracy theory nut, so much so that she derailed the class.

At least when I had teachers that derail the class often they give life lessons and still teach the class very well.

College. My wit & sarcasm almost got me in trouble, as one student asked her how long she had been teaching and she said 13 years. I said "How is that possible?" without even thinking. Thankfully she didn't hear me.

He was a practicing psychologist. He worked with patients when he wasn't teaching. But, he'd derail the class with stories about his patients that had no bearing on the class itself (the story about an alcoholic patient of his whose liver was starting to fail), and when he'd try to explain some terms, he'd fail miserably (I had to explain to the class what sensory adaptation was, because no one understood this guy), and he was overall not a pleasant person.

He didn't like me because I obviously knew more about the subject and could teach the class far better, so I was a threat. He was actively trying to fail me.
