Watching some nerds debate about whether the ending of Breaking Bad was good or not.
It was an average ending.
Honestly, being a show with a near flawless journey, there was absolutely
no way to make an ending that would satisfy everyone. Because of that, the conclusion is held to an impossibly high standard, therefore, the best way to end it was to go the "safe route".
And it certainly was safe. Any fan could see the resolution coming a mile away, and it was basically foreshadowed many seasons back. But, that doesn't mean it's "bad" by any stretch of the imagination.
And that's really all there is to it; there are no winners or losers. That was the exact vision of this series. Walt's life was a massive grey area when he became Heisenberg, so he wasn't objectively good or bad.
That's how the ending should be interpretated as well. From the very beginning, things were not going to end well for him, and his family would be torn apart. The journey is what really carried that message through, not the destination.
