Speed Racer was great. I got the DVD ages ago and Ringman and I love it. We know it's stupid, but it's Speed Racer. Speed Racer has some pretty hackneyed plots and its writing isn't winning any awards, but it's fun. And the movie is fun.
I haven't read any reviews on Jem, yet, but hearing that it blew makes me sad.
If you're going to do something like Jem & The Holograms into live action, then it needs to be, to coin a phrase, truly truly truly outrageous. Go full on holograms and band battles ala Scott Pilgrim. Don't...
wait till the end of the goddamn movie, after the credits, to show The Misfits.
When people say "Hollywood is out of touch" this is the kind of [parasitic bomb] they mean. Again, don't pander to our nostalgia if you're going to [parasitic bomb] all over the source material. I've watched one episode of Jem in my life and I've seen the closing credits more times than I can count, since it came on before Transformers in the morning. If they promised me that they were going to make a sci-fi girl rock band and rock the hell out of it, I'd totally go see it.
My brother came home and we saw the first two episodes of One-Punch Man.
I love it. I really do.
The satire against Superman, anime tropes, exaggerated transformations -- it's fantastic. I see why the web comic is as popular as it is.
I actually think you'd really like it, PB.
Yeah, I'm going to watch it. I've heard nothing but positive things. Since it's new, I can catch up pretty fast.
