I chalked it up to a psychological reaction, rather than actual blood loss. Scalps bleed a lot, but that's really it. Usually, it's not serious, and they do clot. It's shocking, and it's reasonable that a person would pass out from seeing all that blood, but otherwise, it will clot and they'll be fine.

Doesn't change the fact that there's nothing covering up the wound right now, leaving it free to either ooze or begin clotting on its own.
