Huh, so apparently James Cameron intentionally had an actor in his film run out of oxygen, to the point where he was actually suffocating. He did this for the sake of getting a "real" performance in a scuba diving scene. The actor did not know about this.

I've heard of suffering for the art but that's just wrong.

You know, Ridley Scott never told the actors how the Chestburster scene was going to play out in Alien, so when they saw the thing pop out it would be an actual surprise and the actors screams would be genuine.

Its not really the same as somebody asphyxiating, but its similar.

Well that's different, unless there was a potential for someone to get a heart attack there's no real danger other than someone pissing their pants.

So of all places the Luigi death scare showed up on Fox News, complete with the news lady horribly pronouncing Mario's name and I think it sounded like she said Weegee instead of Luigi. I know Mario isn't a common name, I only knew one guy named Mario but come on that's just sad.

Yeah, I'm reading this article that has a list of movie scenes that nearly got actors killed.

Michael J. Fox was accidentally hanged, passing out for 30 seconds until anyone on the set noticed. Eli Wallach was nearly decapitated in The Good, The Bad And The Ugly, as he really did lay underneath a moving train in one scene. If he raised his head at an incorrect time, well, you know.

Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre had to wield a real chainsaw and swing it around, and he can't see anything through his mask. He slipped at one point, and the running chainsaw landed dangerously close to his face.

And of course, there's Jackie Chan, who's just batshit; preforming ALL his stunts and breaking almost every bone in his body TWICE. Including a scene in Police Story where he slid down a pole covered in lights, causing 3rd degree burns to his face and hands, nearly paralyzing him. Adding the lights to the pole was Jackie's idea, even though everyone on the set stressed how dangerous it was.

I don't know, it just bugs me even though I know it's a common mispronunciation. At least it's not as bad as how my best friend pronounces Gemini with a G sound instead of a J sound.

I think pronouncing "Mario" as "Mare-eeoh" is an East Coast thing. My parents do it, and lots of people around here do it.

You never know, that egg is right where somebody's breast could be.

It would look like Yoshi's throwing a 3D Egg.
Of course looking at it now the print is too high for that. So they ruined the one good thing.

As for the Mary-O thing, Its sort of like how I personally pronounce Samus. Instead of SAM-US I pronounce it more SAH-MUS. I don't care if its wrong, it sounds better.
