I'm not about to go into that territory.  Every time I hear Shakespeare in an argument, though, the person had only read Romeo and Juliet.

Here's the thing: Romeo and Juliet was trashy teen romance written for teens.  That was the entire point of the play.  Thus, it's not a bastion of high literature.  It was the Twilight of the Elizabethan era.

Honestly Hamlet was way better than that and I wished that Taming of the Shrew was actually finished instead leaving at a cliff hanger.  But yeah Romeo and Juliet was the classic shitty teen romance story and definitely not high literature.

I preferred the comedies, though I've read the other dramas. 

I haven't read Shakespeare in quite some time.  Been wanting to read more Lovecraft, though.  I need to get the collection so I can finish the Horror Over Innsmouth.
