Arche awoke from his slumber with a yawn, his arms and legs stretching out, clad in a muscle tee and boxers. He maneuvered around in the surprisingly snug blankets that covered him, then faced the large window that was behind his bed. From there, he had a miraculous view of the galaxy; more stars and spectrums of color than he's ever seen in his life. He could certainly understand why Phi was mesmerized by space. It was absolutely gorgeous.
"Man, I could stare through this window forever..." Arche whispered out, his arms wrapped around the pillow that was currently inhabiting his face.
He was about to peer his face closer, when suddenly, he heard two knocks on his door, "Knock knock, coming in," A voice emitted from behind the door, and one second later, Phi opened the door and entered his room.
"H-Hey, what the heck!" Arche was completely caught-off-guard, "You know, I believe the point of knocking is to wait for the person's response..."
"Yeah, probably," Phi said flatly and glanced around the area, "Huh, your room looks neater than mine. Not to mention you have a far more satisfactory view of the galaxy. Lucky you." She walked closer to his bed.
"What are you doing here, exactly?" He sighed, massaging his temple with two fingers.
She plopped down on the bed, "How rude. That's the greeting I get in the morning, is it?"
"No, you see, 'rude' would be barging into someone's personal space, without warning. Pretty rude of a certain someone, don't you think?" Arche replied.
"Give that person a medal; they really know how to take charge of things," Phi said with a light smirk, resting her head on the mattress, hands folded behind her neck, "But in all honesty and whatnot, I didn't feel like waiting. Besides, it's almost noon, so I figured your lazy butt would be up by now, at least. No harm done."
He stared at her, "... There's gotta be a better excuse you can use."
"Anyway," She shifted her legs to the left of the bed and crawled over to the window, "It's pretty boring in my room, and I wondered how your residence fared, in comparison. I'll try that 'knocking and waiting' thing, next time, however. Seems like an interesting alternative," She gazed through the window, an air of sarcasm in her voice.
He groaned, but soon after, took notice of her attire. Phi simply wore white shorts and a light blue T-shirt with the sentence "Pucker up!" inscribed near the top, displaying a cartoon of a hockey stick leaning in to "kiss" a puck.
The only possession that was her own was the black flower brooch on her hair. She must have quite the attachment to that, he thought.
"Believe it or not, Arche, I don't wear my usual clothes 24/7," Phi stated, still looking through the window.
He raised his eyebrows, surprised that she sensed his staring, "Well, it's less about the casual appearance, and moreso your shirt. I never pegged you for a pun girl."
She turned her head away from him, "... I hardly noticed it. I just like the color, is all," she spoke in a low voice, head still turned.
"Uh huh," Arche smirked, reclining next to her, gazing into the infinite unknown outside the window, "Heh, I suppose you're a lot like space, huh?" He said rhetorically.
"And what is that supposed to mean?" She furrowed her brows.
He simply smiled, the two of them peeking through to the other side as they rested near each other. It was rather soothing.
This lasted for a few minutes, until Phi got from the window and rested her head on his pillow, legs crossed and staring at the ceiling, "I think it's time we resume our Morphogenetic training today. It's been two days since our first lesson, so it's imperative that we commence the next step of your ability. Of how many lessons there will be, I'd factor in a total of three."
He nodded, "Yeah, I guess it would be best... maybe we could wait one more day?"
She turned to him, "Ugh, seriously? Why prolong it any further?"
Arche pinched the covers, tossing it over her, "You're a burrito. Your statement is invalid."
"You're hilarious," Phi responded dryly, her voice muffled by the blankets covering her body and mouth. She set it aside.
He chuckled, "But yeah, of course! We'll continue today."
"It's settled, then," She nodded.
Arche let out a long sigh and stretched, getting up from the bed. He grabbed a white T-shirt and slipped it on, "Well, we better head out and find something to eat before then. I'm pretty hungry and could really go for some waffles."
Phi propped herself onto the bed, "Yeah... maybe in a little while," she blankly stared at her toes, her feet idly knocking against each other.
He put on his armored pants, then raised an eyebrow, "Huh? Why?"
Her feet slid closer to her body, knees raised to her face as her arms wrapped around her legs, "Can you... stay with me for a bit? Just a little while longer..." She spoke in a soft and partially sullen voice.
He searched her eyes. They looked somewhat sad, however, they were also something else. Something that he could swear he's seen before, but couldn't quite place a finger on it.
Arche sat down next to her, reclining down on his pillow with his hands folded beneath his head, "Yeah, sure. So... you want to talk about something."
"Nothing in particular," Phi said in a trailing voice, "Let's just... talk."
Arche looked at her. Her expression was distant and her posture in a compact, restricted manner.
He smiled lightly, though a tint of concern was on his face, "Yeah... talking is nice."
