Reddish-brown stag beetle.
We get beetles around all the time, and the pic I took of the big guy didn't turn out as well, so I just yanked a similar one from Flickr. I let him go, though. He flew away.

If you guys care for it ill post some pics pertaining to this here place. hell, Ill probably post them anyway. But not now. now is bedtime.  I love abandoned places. Why? because they always have a story to tell. Specially old abandoned places, but not always just old. I see a place and I wonder, "what is the story behind this place?" Maybe growing up in an area full of old abandoned places has something to do with that interest. |

Well since while I SHOULD be going to bed- im not- ill just post em before I do. It is an abandoned never completed amusement park in China, near Beijing. It's called "Wonderland" and would have been the biggest amusement park in Asia. Or at least, that was the goal. Construction halted in 1998 over disputes between local Govts and Farmers, over property values. 2008 they tried to start again, but failed. Its being reclaimed by Farmers. And yet while fiished it would have been just another Disneyland, more of the same fantasy castle amusement and all that- what it has become now, is to quote an article, much rarer, and much more interesting. |
