The door to the interrogation room was already shut, and Quickie was still searching for a decent lawyer. Most of them had up-front fees that Quickie couldn't afford, or had collection fees that she couldn't afford even if she won the trial, because as far as she knew, there wouldn't be any settlement involved. Mewtwo was the settlement.
Other lawyers that Quickie spoke to simply would not touch the case, with good reason, she supposed. The court would no doubt assign her an attorney, so she supposed that it was better than nothing. However, to help with her case, she planned to do extra research in these types of trials, see if there were anything from past cases that she could use to her advantage.
There was a low roar the increased in pitch as Quickie heard the station's ventilation system kick into high gear. It shouldn't take more than ten or fifteen minutes to clear the Stun Spores from the air.
In the Computer Crimes division, Archie and Officer Jenny were likewise trapped in the office, waiting for the all clear. In the meantime, Archie had resumed his perusal of the discs, selecting the CD in the newest condition and opening it. This one was not password-protected and only contained a few files. Selecting one, he opened it. "Huh."
Jenny looked over. "What?"
"Brain scans," Archie pointed to the screen. He closed the file and opened another, confirming his suspicions. "Yep, they're all scans, looks like. They're recent, too, from a couple weeks ago. I could check the metadata, see where they came from."
"Go for it," Jenny nodded. "Once we get the all clear, I'll go talk to my cousin about arranging a meeting with Mewtwo."
"Yeah, she was too busy when I went to talk to her," Archie nodded. "Okay, got the serial number for the machine that was used. I'll pop it into a database, get some more information..." he trailed off, then looked to Jenny. "When is the Pokemon Institute taking it?"
"Tomorrow morning," Jenny nodded, "so we're running out of time. Once the transfer goes through, we'll need to go through the Institute just to question Mewtwo further. It won't be easy, as they haven't been exactly cooperative with us in the past."
