I love how he tries to keep the Jaeger designs separate from typical mech influences.

OH MY GOD.

OH. MY. [tornado fang]ing. GOD.

Pacific Rim was everything I wanted it to be and more. The visuals are insane, the soundtrack is [tornado fang]ing spectacular, and THE APOCALYPSE WAS CANCELLED. It is the closest we've ever gotten to a legit live action Anime, AND IT WAS GOOD. LIKE, REALLY REALLY [tornado fang]ing GOOD.

Thus far my favorite movie of the year. I will probably go see it again.

I'll probably see that sometime next week. Can't wait.

Anyway, went and saw The Heat today, very funny. Quality buddy cop kind of stuff, lots of swearing so those put off by that stuff probably shouldn't see it (As if there's anybody here who is offended by swearing). I wouldn't say go out and see it right now though, maybe wait for it to come to rental.

Did you see it in IMAX?

Because that movie screams IMAX.

I wish we had IMAX.

Oh... but we have a Drive-In! That's close enough!

Too bad the other movie its paired with is The Lone Ranger, I have no interest in seeing that.

My body is ready to see Pacific Rim tomorrow...

I guess all I can really say is it isn't exactly what I'd expect out of a $4.4M game

It doesn't even have mouth animations

Wait... what?

That doesn't make any sense. Why?

I HAVE NO IDEA!!

I mean, I don't think Affleck is a bad actor at all. It's just...well curious really.

...My friend is going to flip. He HATES Affleck.

It should've been somebody older or something honestly. I mean if they're going to try and do Dark Knight Returns like I've heard they're planning on doing (Wouldn't that make Superman a supporting character though?)

I think Affleck could play a good Bruce Wayne; perhaps even a great one.

But I can't see him as Batman.

Well, Here it is...

Finally...

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INmtQXUXez8[/youtube]

I... I just... Don't know. i can tell they are shoving the hamfisted family drama in there because that's what the hip movies do.

We see the two designs, the 80's looking one and the Batman "stealth" look... personally, i think the chrome 80's one looks pretty good as a redesign. Looks somewhat bulky too.

Then comes Batman, and it just looks like rubber.

Also, maybe this is just me, but...

HE

STILL

HAS

THAT

[tornado fang]ing

HAND

AUUGH

EDIT: WHOOPS, WRONG VIDEO

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

Hmm... my complaints.

The hand thing, I get the mythology gag but really its kinda silly.

The whole way Murphy becomes Robocop, they blew up his car? The [tornado fang], the original way was better.

The fact that Murphy retains his memories, knowing who he is and his family and such, as opposed to slowing having it come back together as the movie went on. I already don't like this.

The Silver Suit probably won't be used very long in the movie to sell more black suit to kids or something, or black will be used at the end with silver being used primarily throughout.

Its never going to be as good as the original, unfortunately, there's no Clarence Boddicker, doesn't appear to be the OCP douchebag, and NO [tornado fang]ing ED-209.

Honestly, what made the original so great was the almost satirical feel it had, the parody commercials, the over-the-top violence... This looks too grim and gritty.

There are a couple of interesting concepts buried in there, but overall, it looks eh.  It's not worth the ticket price for only a couple of interesting concepts that could end up being executed poorly, anyway.

Ed-209 is in the promo materials, he's been redesigned. I'm sure we'll see him. (or various of him)

Michael Keaton plays the OCP CEO, and supposedly he's the villain. Looks like they are going for a Steve Jobs archetype with him. Oldman is Norton.

the most interesting concept present is the "illusion of free will" thing.

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

Yeah, and that concept is really the only thing I'm interested in seeing.  However, it seems to be buried under a mountain of family drama, business is evil, and what appears to be a host of action cliches.  Paying full ticket for one single concept that may be swept under the rug shortly after its introduction just isn't worth it.

Aside from the "illusion of free will" concept, the whole thing looks eh.
