Well I would recommend you to watch Dragon Ball Kai. It´s DBZ without overly long fights and without fillers. Also the original Dragon Ball if you haven´t seen that yet...

Youtube, search 'Dragonball Kai episode 1' and watch from there. They're at least going to the end of the Freeza saga, haven't heard anything about ding the Cell or Buu ones though.

But the appeal of DBZ is the fillers and the overly long fights!
Especially taking 5 eps to AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH and Planet Namek!
