What's kind of funny, though, is that my style has "regressed" as much as it has "evolved". When I was younger, I used to draw all of my characters in a very cartoonish way: round heads, funny googly eyes, lack of detail and facial features, and proportions that weren't too different from a stick figure. Then I went through a sort of "realism" phase, wherein my drawings had more realistic proportions and were heavily influenced by anime. Then, somewhat recently, I was doodling one of my characters - I drew him in a very stylised, warped, skewed style. And I thought, "Hey, I really like this style." So I doodled another few characters like that - even a very evil, dark character - and found it was easier and a little more fun than trying to draw proper proportions. So I chose a compromise: a wacky, cartoonish style that has a noticeable anime/manga-ish influence. This works especially well for some of my characters, e.g. Skullivan, who's meant to be a tall, skinny, Tim Burton-esque fellow.
That explanation took longer than I thought it would.
Still, I think it's interesting to look at other peoples' styles, even - hell, especially - some of the people here at RPM. There's some awesome artists here.
