My half-brother's cat went to the vet on Thursday and is on Prednisone. I've been the one to give her the pills. Medicating a cat is fun!

No, but her skin infection is subsiding. It's not so red and she hasn't been scratching at it as much.

Indeed. Mabel has another vet appointment next week. She's due for another antibiotic shot and a rabies booster. The vet doesn't know what's going on with her skin infection, as the cause is a bit of a mystery, so they're doing the kitchen sink approach; hit it with everything.

Yeah and I want PB to check part of it, due to the nature of it. Not to mention I have to tell him some things and maybe ask him to do something that I had to cut out.

Yeah, she got an antibiotic shot, and anti-parasite shot, she's on Prednisone, and samples are being cultured to see if it's fungal. So far, since she stopped scratching at it... it may just clear up on its own. Her ears are looking great.

Tonight's dosing was perhaps the easiest. Mabel didn't resist too much and the pill went down in one go.

We got a pill gun from the vet. It's this long syringe-thing with a perforated rubber nib at one end and a plunger. Put the pill in the nib, stick it in the animal's mouth, shoot pill down throat.

Every time I give Mabel her pill, I pet her and rub her and tell her what a good girl she is.

The vet said to use the pill gun to open Mabel's mouth, but I find it easier to use my finger. I hold the top of her head, put my finger in the corner of her mouth until she opens it, then give her the pill. She doesn't like it, but it's over and done in seconds if she doesn't resist too much.

My old veterinary science class and internship comes in handy for this.
