I hear there's a little reward for 100%'ing the game without even seeing a Super Guide block. Apparently the stars in your save file will sparkle.

I'm already screwed, saw it twice, but you can still save yourself. :|

EDIT: No double post button?

If you replay the Super Guide levels without using Super Guide, you will get your new star. ^^

Yep.

I just played a number of W7-9 levels without trying to get the Star Coins.
IMMENSELY easier. It's crazy how drastic the difference is.

Maybe I will keep this game and just not mess with Star Coins in future replays. I should do the same in NSMBDS, too.

It's like this:

Use Super Guide? You can still get the 5th star, just go back and beat the levels you used Super Guide in without using it. They will not glitter, though.

Didn't use Super Guide? Well then you're clearly an awesome Mario player if you have five stars, so here, we'll make your stars sparkle. Winners get sparkly things!

But yes, most of the level's challenge in single player is getting the Star Coins. Otherwise, it's trying to not die with another to three players on the screen at the same time as you.

EDIT: Also, star coins in NSMB DS don't matter too much. They're in much easier to get locations than NSMB Wii's in general.

Who wouldnt spend so much time oging through levels ot make pictures sparkle! Oh whats that? You want more for doing such a greta effort? You beat the game thats a reward enough, no go away, we are trying to make DS fit with Balance table.

It's better than getting nothing, though it is a little lame.

It wasn't even much of a great effort. Just play carefully and watch where you're jumping. When you beat the game (you can warp with the cannons) Super Guide immediately shuts off on all further level playthroughs. You'll still get the sparkle effect. It just shows you didn't need any hand-holding to beat the game.

Thing is, I dont really like going that extra mile unless I get to see or do something good. Its lame that for MY ( Im not as amazing in mario games as most of you) effort all I get is sparkly stars, whatever im going to go play Tekken 6 and spam hworong's kicks.

Well, it's just there for those that do. I think getting the five stars themselves is more of the achievement. The sparkles are just a little extra icing on the cake: it's nice, but more style than substance.

So why are you playing games at all? They're all effort for very little reward.

Sometimes, the game itself, the story, the memories you'll get, etc., IS the reward.

NSMBWii, not the case.

You will NEVER get me to become an overachiever! Besides I mean if the game is entertaining then of course I will play it, if I have  real life competition, which is the case with pokemon, soulcalibur and most fighting games, I will play it more and practice By the way, no one will be able to beat me in soulcalibur now that I have mitsurugi's moves down and by no one i mean my real life friends. Sometimes I prefer the sheer factor of beating a stage or boss or gaining a level that adds to the fun. But once hte world is saved or destroyed and everything is mostly done, I doubt I will really come back for the extra goodies, such as catching all the pokemon in a region. So I really am just talking about pursuading me to do more with the game, if I unlock something worthwhile (some kind of costume change, new weapon or something like that) then I will try and get it, if its something thats really just there to show what you did (Trophies achievemeants of that sort) I really wont go ahead and complete the extra chalenges.

EDIT: Its just confusing to WATCH the ship dodge those things, let alone actually do so.
