She was talking about the original design, which is what I mentioned. I assume the SD slot would still be there, just with two DS card slots. >.>

Anyways, the reason for that could be:

A. Hold Two games in the system at once

B. Possibly do something like what Sonic and Knuckles did to Sonic 2 and 3.

but since it's not happening, we'll never know.

If you put a Sonic 3 Cartridge into the Sonic and Knuckles cartridge, it let you play Sonic 3 as Knuckles.

Since games have advanced since then, carts could probably add more than characters to an already exisiting game.

BUT, since it's not happening, we'll never know what could have been.

I don't see the point in jumping to this one yet. Perhaps after a price drop (snerk) or when more "solid" titles are released. Right now, I see no incentive to upgrade from the DS lite... or even a normal DS.

Well since the power button is smaller than the first DS and is located lower, it lowers the chance of an accidental reset.

The only reason why I don't want to buy the DSi is that the specific games for it are all region locked. While I could solve this by buying an import, that's an extra $50 I have to spend for it, and I don't have the option of turning in my DS lite in order to help pay off for it. If it wasn't for the god damn region lock, I'd be all over this thing making love to it.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how well of an MP3 player this thing is?

A crappy one, because it's not an MP3 player at all. It's strictly an AAC player. If you want to play MP3s, you want a flash card with Moonshell, not a DSi.

And yeah, the region-lock sucks, but I'm not even sure if "DSi exclusive games" will ever exist in cartridge format at all. No flash card can as of yet access the DSi's features, it's possible that booting to a cartridge kicks the DSi into "legacy" mode automatically. Or it could just be that flash card manufacturers want something out in the meantime until they fully crack the DSi's encryption. It's a matter of whether or not Nintendo designed the DSi's extra stuff to be exclusive to downloadables and firmware, which currently they are. Whether or not Big N left a window open for the future, we don't know.

You have to hold the power button for just as long on the original DS as you do the slider on the Lite. So you are actually less prone to accidental resets on the original since you can SEE the button, unless you just can't get it through your head that start and select are on the other side.

In that case, get a DSi. But I hate the Lite's slider. It's EVIL.

I know I hate the slider but sometimes I think I did accidently reset it on the first DS I got...unfortunally it happens on Animal Crossing.

I'm curious to know if anyone bothered to check whether or not the DSi's web browser can upload photos stored on the system at all. Knowing Nintendo, I just assumed it to not be the case. Can you really get a DSi photo onto ImageShack without the use of a computer, or is the news media just ignoring system capabilities again the same as they did with PictoChat?

Supposedly confirmed via the Club Nintendo event where Platinum members got a chance to see/use the DSi first hand, reps told people that the DSi will have it's own VC.
