This as far as I know is the most detailed and accurate map of gensokyo.

Yeah, funny how the same thing happened to me when I tried downloading Touhou 07.5 ~ Immaterial and Missing Power from Twilight Frontier's site only to find out they're only patches for the game. Unless the game is freeware (i.e. Vanguard Princess, Blue Wish Resurrection PLUS, Reflection), the doujin circle's site only provides update patches and/or demos of their games. The only (legal) way of getting these games is through doujin retailers like Melonbooks, Toranoana, or get someone who can help in getting these games for you. Otherwise, you're gonna have to resort to the internet if piracy isn't an issue.

I don't think it's ever said that there is a road ,and even if there is one it's probably overgrown becuase no one goes to the Hakurei Shrine except for Yokai (they're the reason why there are no humans at the shrine, and they can fly~).

So many characters! And the locations, so that's where they are live (most of them), also where is the Lake of Blood located? The Gensokyo map above doesn't really point out where it is... though I'll look it up later.

The Lake of Blood is up amongst some mountains and was the setting of Lotus Land Story's 2nd Stage. As such, it has yet to make any appearance in the Windows games.

However, Yuuka's appearance would indicate it's still around up in the mountains, since the Lake of Blood leads to Mugenkan, Yuuka's own little Dreamworld of sorts. Other notable locations from the PC98 games include the Forest of Magic, in which Meira appeared; Hell, which appeared in 11 and of course, Makai, which appeared in 12. Given Makai's confirmed continuity, it can be assumed such for the Lake of Blood, Mugenkan, and any other locations only appearing in the PC98 games.

Mr. P informed me of this threads recent spur of activity. Im the little birdie that gave him that list and info on the Lake of Blood. Given your question I cant be bothered to relay it all via Mr. P on IRC so Ill just do it myself. (Hes asleep right now anyways)

Youre going to need a PC98 Emulator, theres a variety of them. Most would suggest Anex86, but personally I go with T98 Next. It can be gotten here. For the disk image files, Google it.

P.S. There are way better vocal arranges than Bad Apple. Srsly

You need a PC-98 emulator to play the PC-98 Touhou games.  Here's a tutorial on working a PC-98 emu.

According grgspunk at DoujinStyle, T-98 Next is recommended for playing the Touhou PC-98 games. Not every PC-98 emulator is compatible with every game; I tried playing Rusty (that Castlevania-clone with a half-naked chick) on one emu an it don't worked on that one, but I tried on another and it worked. So it might be a good idea to get all there of the emus shown on the vid if you plan to play other PC-98 games.

Not that Masayoshi Minoshima's version isn't good, but there are better singers than nomico, and his arrangement stops sounding like Bad Apple!! after a while anyway. I've grown to love "Think of You" from NJK Record, because it sounds more like the original composition and it's EUROBEAT. Can't go wrong either way.

Try talking to TDOMMX or TrickMasterMint, maybe they know how to buy games from DLsite.

The place is pretty secure when it comes to using credit/debit cards, and they appear to have something called "JPoints" for English users (which seems silly to me since it's just a proxy that'll use your card info anyway), but hey, whatever you use is up to you. I can't imagine why you'd be willing to use PayPal, which is infamous for problems, and not willing to use the site directly, unless it specifically has to do with insecurity involving your card, in which case I do believe you can purchase a prepaid Visa debit card that will work just fine.

Of course, if you don't want to give your information to some random website, a friend of mine is living in Japan and runs a service where he'll pretty much get you anything that isn't H-related and send it to you, charging you exactly what he pays. Many of the users, including myself, on another forum I staff have taken advantage of this and gotten everything from Touhou games to doujinshi to Griffon figures and Gift plushies. TDOMMX and I were actually able to grab physical copies of Rosenkreuzstilette through him, which appears to be absolutely impossible nowadays. Those are essentially your best options, though.

Fair enough, though I'd argue the merit of purchasing doujin games in the same way one would purchase most indie games (many of the profits go straight to the developer), but I digress~ Can't win 'em all, I guess!

As for PayPal, there are terrible stories of account freezing and other forms of lacking support. There are a few websites dedicated solely to how terrible PayPal is, actually (though, admittedly, they're stuck in the GeoCities '90s in terms of web design)! This isn't the place for that, though. I use them and haven't had any personal problems, but I know they've some glaring issues in the past and present that they refuse to admit fault for or fix. Just saying that I find it silly that people are willing to trust it and not most equally or more secure methods of payment.

The only thing I have problems with paypal is that I have no clue how to make a transaction from my bank to my paypal, it's infuriating.

I should talk to this guy sometime, once I'm able to buy stuff online myself that is. I really want to actually buy some of these games and soundtracks (because personally, I rather have a physical copy of the game rather than data) from doujin circles like SITER SKAIN (the shoot 'em up circle behind Kamui, RefleX, and ALLTYNEX Second), Twilight Frontier, and Frontier Aja. But as of now, I have no PC of my own (and I really need one), no credit card, and I just blew $70 for The Orange Box, a Nintendo Points card, and a pair of pants...

Now if you'll all excuse me, I gotta get back to thinking with boundaries.
