It will be on display for only TWO MONTHS, starting July 11th. After these two months, it will be disassembled again and right now nobody knows what will happen to the statue after that.

Maybe a Gundam museum in the near future?

Maybe a Gundam museum in the near future?

Turns out it's actually a working, fully functional mobile suit with nuclear reactor and everything and it'll be used to crush North Korea.

Really? Sweet.

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

But still how will it fight like we see in the show? There are practically thousands of Gundam threads and forums who complain either how a Gundam may not work in the real world, real world physics apply to Gundam or even how fundamentally impractical is Gundam. Granted, I am not engineer or Gundam buff but after looking at how over-the-top Gundam tends to be , I don't know if that can be possible in real life or if the military even wants a real working Gundam. There was an article on this the other day in RPM but I don't where it was.

Edit: I am not saying this to crush anyone's imaginations and dreams now, that is for certain!

Let's just say there's a reason walker mechs are going to remain novelties.

Im pretty sre they can do it, no matter how noisy or damaging to the surroundings it is.
The japanese Im CERTAIN can do it, too.

It's not that it would be noisy or damaging, it'd be [tornado fang]ing useless. An RPG round to the knees and it's [parasitic bomb] is ruined. AFAIK even ordinary tanks aren't used that much because it's so easy for terrists to get RPGs along with their other guns.

they could make it a ride... make a cockpit for two, and have them take you for a ride in a Gundam.

I'm almost certain there already was a Gundam ride.

EDIT:
Quote
Set to replace the original "Gundam the Ride" starting July 2007, the main feature of this attraction is a full size 1:1 Gundam model, lying flat inside the venue. Instead of siting in a movable cockpit and watch a CG movie, this attraction requires participants to carry out a mission with a handheld device.

First, each participants are to receive a handheld digital device, while a staff (dressed in Earth Federation uniform) provides a briefing about the situation. The mission is to use the digital device to collect various downloads from information points in the first stage, then upload them to the Gundam within 8 minutes. The downloads are described as information related to the Magnetic Coating of Gundam which allows Gundam to move. On the digital device, a gundam shape is shown with various part of the body tag shown, such as "head", "arm", "leg", etc. Each successful download would enable one of these body part of Gundam.

If a player downloaded all the portion of the body in the first part, and successfully install them to the correct places within 8 minutes, he/she is to be allowed to enter the cockpit of Gundam.

There's another, according to Wikipedia anyways.

Take a gernade to the legs and it's useless, rather than an RPG which has a slightly long reload time. Hell, even one at the jetpack and it's screwed, rendering the thing flightless.

I'm almost certain there already was a Gundam ride.

Huh, how come our Star Wars the Ride don't update as much as the Gundam Rides do?

Workshop/DA/YT/Photobucket なにかんがえてるの!?
So its about ass now huh? EVEN THE ASS HAS 'EXCEEDED'!

One mention of LEGENDS and everyone goes batshit.  :\

Yep, every time when someone mentions that game people get energized for an apparent reason whatsoever. It's like this everywhere else, trust me.

It got really messy to find my sprite and comic topic, so it's in my sig.

It'd be worth going to Japan just to LOOK at that thing. 8)
I first saw this on Adult Swim, and I nearly wet myself when I saw it light up (over exaggeration, of course).
I wonder if there really is a cockpit that you could climb into...

Necropost much, but, just mentioning, the Gundam was finally disassembled.

I wish it didn't have to go.

What are they gonna do with it now then?

Well that was a pointless endeavor then :\ I mean, I can understand why taking it down for various reasons, but what's the point or purpose of it now? Are they going to lay it down horizontally instead of having it stand up straight? Is it being moved to a museum? Was the money used for the thing completely wasted?

That's the big question. There's no official statement what Bandai wants to do with it. I for one just hope they DON'T trash it.
