Well, first it was Mew. Now it's time for the Enigma Crystal event.
The Engima Crystal will be available for download over the WiFi from 27th November 2009 to 11th January 2010. Once downloaded, head to the Pewter City Museum, talk to the guy that revives your fossils, and it will become the Soul Dew. Steven Stone will then appear to explain that it's the incarnation of the souls of Latios and Latias. Once you exit the museum, Latios (HG) or Latias (SS) will challenge you, at level 40.

If you missed the Mew event, no worries.
It will be available again, this time for Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum from 29th January 2010 to 11th February 2010, well, for Japanese players.

You know, looking over my latest batch of GBA-migrated Pokemon, I have to have caught the worst-IVed Latias ever (and it was on the Southern Island event, no less). HP at 1, Attack at 7, and all four of the other stats at 0.

They really need to enforce some law-of-averages minimum limit with IVs. If anyone ever had four 31's, you'd better believe everybody would be crying hacked.

Anyways, I think the HG/SS move tutors may have finally given me a way to fit Mewtwo into a Double Battle team. I'm itching to experiment and see how it turns out.

Which of the two are more broken right now? I keep remembering everyone harping on about how bullshit Latias was but how Latios was even worse, or am I mixing the two up?

They're basically the same except Latias is slightly more defensive whereas Latios is more offensive. The competitive scene considers Latios more of a threat at current, he's Uber with or without Soul Dew whereas Latias without Soul Dew is considered OU.

Then again, this is the same group of people who consider Wynaut to be Uber.

Though truth be told I was expecting an April release, not that I'm complaining but I'm probably going to be up to my eyeballs in classwork.

For those that still don't have the Yellow Forest course for their PokeWalker, it will be available again over WiFi from 16th February to 28th February 2010. 6 different Pikachus live there:
