I'm sure Surf will show you riding SOMETHING, as it has since R/S, but the question is if you can discern it as the actual Pokemon you have.  Well, if they're making walking sprites for every 'man, here's hoping they've got swimming as well.  Hell, it could be the same sprites just half-submerged...

Speaking of which...does that mean swimming Pokemon are going to be hovering as in the console games if they follow you outside?

Lastly, I know some will be delighted at Mewtwo. 8D
F*@#! YEAH!

Red Gyarados footage
Riding a shadow in the water.  *sighs*  Oh well, maybe you can at least see your actual Pokemon jumping in and out.

Gyarados sprite looks IN-FREAKING-CREDIBLY kickass.  And what little of the music that can be heard was awesome, as well.  Consider this pre-ordered as soon as the U.S. release date is confirmed.

Pokéathelon footage, as well as better quality Red Gyarados footage

Consider this pre-ordered as soon as the U.S. release date is confirmed.

That is a very impressive sprite of Red Gyarados... :3
Really nice remix theme too.

As for the Pokeathelon... Hmm... Wonder what rewards there will be.

Not 2... XD
The back 2 flippers are just very small on that sprite.
As for how, just like how a Wailord can float on land. >0<

Pokethelon info:

Quote from: PokéBeach
The Pokethlon tests you and your Pokemon’s Speed, Power, Technique, Stamina and jumping ability.
You get to choose three Pokemon. Each Pokemon appears to have stars in each category being from top to bottom, “Speed,” “Power,” “Technique,” “Stamina,” and “Jump.” It appears speed can be up to 5 stars, power up to 4 and all the rest max out at 3.
Two different types of minigames in the Pokethlon are discussed: Dash Hurdle and Bound Field.
Dash Hurdle is located in a place called the Track Dome.
Bound Field is located in a place called the Jump Dome.
Dash Hurdle: You control 3 Pokemon simultaneously, as they run you must click on their overworld sprites. By doing so, they will jump over the hurdles. The course gets harder the further you run through. This track focuses on your speed and jump abilities.
Bound Filed: Again, you control three Pokemon simultaneously. In this, your technique and jump abilities are being tested. The more lit-up (yellow) things you touch when you make a jump, the higher your score rises.
Pokemon can earn medals.

The first scan was already shown earlier this week, but now we can see Ho-Oh, Lugia, and Entei's sprites. Overworld shots of Ho-Oh in front of the Tin Tower and Lugia in the Whirl Islands are also shown. The scenes will probably precede or follow those 3D shots of Ho-Oh flying around the Tin Tower and Lugia sitting behind the wave of water - the 3D scenes that were revealed a while ago.

The second scan shows the Kimono Girls, Red Gyarados, Pokemon Gyms, and more Pokethlon mini-games. It appears that inside of Ilex Forest, you can team up with one of the Kimono Girls to help her find the exit, similar to Cheryl in DPt's Eterna Forest. The scan states that the Kimono Girl holds a "key" to the story, perhaps meaning that she literally has a key for the player. The screenshot that shows the dance studio the Kimono Girls reside in has a Team Rocket grunt in it, so it seems Team Rocket has some involvement with them... the grunt says, "So, you can't listen to your customer's commands, huh?", yelling at the Kimono Girls. In addition to the Dash Hurdle and Bound Field mini-games we learned about yesterday, the scan reveals two new games: Ring-Out Fight and Shooting Snow. Shooting Snow seems to involve... shooting snow, while Ring-Out Fight appears to be like the Hitmontop game in Pokemon Stadium 2 where you have to knock Pokemon out of a ring.

For the third scan we have PokeGear and PokeWalker information. You can check the Johto map on the PokeGear and it has a radio and phone (not real ones of course). Unlike previous Pokemon games, you can now assign two key items (like a Super Rod and Bicycle) using two of the DS's buttons, though we don't know which yet. The scan also shows that the Item Finder has been redesigned, which you can see on the middle of the page to the left (the black circle with orange and a dot). As for the PokeWalker, you can connect to a friend's PokeWalker using your own. On the bottom of the scan you can see two PokeWalkers connecting to each other, one with a Cyndaquil and the other with a Pikachu. One of the players receives an Oran Berry in doing so, which means that there will probably be ways of obtaining items when connecting with your friend's PokeWalker. The scan also gives us our first look of a Pokemon getting captured on the PokeWalker - you can see a Poke Ball capturing a Sentret. Additionally, one of the screenshots shows the PokeWalker's Item Finder discovering a Rare Candy, which may mean it will allow players to obtain rare items. It is also revealed that the PokeWalker will record your daily progress with a journal.

The fourth scan confirms that the Level 1 Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina you receive from Arceus will be able to learn Metal Burst, Hydro Pump, and Shadow Sneak (respectively). There are screenshots of each Pokemon using their attack. In the final scan, Notched-Ear Pichu's attacks are confirmed to be Pain Split, Volt Tackle, Helping Hand, and Swagger.

As for the Latios, Latias, and Mewtwo factoids posted the other day... they were most likely fake. There is no indication in the scans of any of those Pokemon being in the games, though if Kanto is included, Mewtwo may be too.

Well, at least most of the stuff mentioned earlier has been confirmed, except for Mewtwo, Latios and Latias.
As for the Kimono Girl's "Key"/key role in the Ilex Forest, hoping for legal Celebi since Colosseum. >.>;

It's funny to see that Entei has went through the least changes in art, even his pose remained almost the same back in GSC.
Still, seeing clear Red Gyarados sprite, awesome.

Just of note, the official Pokemon website has updated their PokeDex with all of Ken Sugimori's new art for the 2nd gen Pokemon.

Awesome, the battle themes for Ho-Oh and Lugia... Lugia's totally beats Ho-Oh's at the moment.
Also for the Legendary Beasts' theme.

Lastly, that Arceus video of re-creating one of the 3 Dragons is just... Wow.

Seems so, although it's difficult to tell for sure, both due to how short the samples are, and the fact that the bystanders won't shut up during the clips. -_-

Because I didn't want to make another Pokemon topic about it. >.>;

The official Pokemon website has revealed more info about the upcoming WiiWare games "Onward! Flame Rescue Team", "Go! Storm Rescue Team", and "Dream! Light Rescue Team". Yep, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon WiiWare games. These games will be using the same Mii-style models as those in My Pokemon Ranch and Melee! Pokemon Scramble. These 3 games will be released in Japan on the 4th of August, at a price of 1200 WiiPoints each.

Quote from: Water Pokemon Master over at Pokebeach
Each version of the game features a slightly different version of the hub town, different starting Pokemon, and different missions. Flame Rescue Team takes place in the volcanic Pokemon Village and emphasizes Fire-Type Pokemon. The starting Pokemon are Charmander, Cyndaquil, Torchic, Chimchar, Vulpix, Growlithe, Eevee, Teddiursa, and Buneary. Storm Rescue Team takes place on Pokemon Beach, emphasizes Water-Type Pokemon, and has Squirtle, Totodile, Mudkip, Piplup, Wooper, Azurill, Phanpy, Riolu, and Wynaut as its starters. Light Rescue Team takes place in the forested Pokemon Garden and emphasizes Electric-Types. Pichu, Pikachu, Shinx, Pachirisu, Elekid, Mareep, Psyduck, Togepi, and Meowth are available from the start. While previous iterations of Pokemon Dungeon assigned your starter based on a personality profile, this time you can apparently choose your starter from the nine Pokemon available.

Gameplay involves taking your team of up to four Pokemon into mazes (the titular mysterious dungeons), and battling through multiple floors of enemies until you find either the exit or a set target such as a Pokemon that needs to be rescued. Along the way, your Pokemon will gain experience, items, money, and possibly even recruit new team members. The layout of the dungeons changes with every visit, keeping the game fresh and challenging. Support is provided by the townspeople. As in previous games, Kangaskhan can hold items, Duskull runs a bank, and Kecleon has a shop. Slaking and Gastrodon also appear, though their role is not yet clear (probably dojo master and move tutor). Slowking is the village Elder, and apparently assigns new missions. Arceus also plays a role in the story.

Two major changes have been made to the gameplay, which sets these titles apart from other Pokemon Dungeon games. First, while in the previous Pokemon Dungeon games, Pokemon couldn't evolve until the endgame for story purposes, in the Wiiware games Pokemon can evolve as soon as they reach the proper level. What's more, if they level up in the middle of a battle, they can evolve right then and there! However, this ability works both ways--enemy Pokemon can also evolve midbattle. The second change is the introduction of the Pokemon Tower. Your team members can climb on each other's shoulders to form a "tower". While like this, the Pokemon move and fight as a unit, combining their stats to drastically improve their overall strength. Of course, enemies can also form Pokemon Towers...

The game makes use of the Wii's online capabilities, allowing players to trade Pokemon and download special missions. It also improves upon the SOS feature from previous games by making full use of the Wii-mail system. The SOS feature works like this: Normally, if your team is Knocked Out during a mission, you lose half your money, half your items, and have to restart the dungeon from scratch. However, if you have WiiConnect24 turned on, you can send a message to the people on your friends list requesting a rescue. Your friends then play through the same dungeon that your team last entered, and if they successfully reach your team, your Pokemon will be revived and allowed to continue from where you left off. Throughout this process, Wii-mail keeps both players apprised of the other team's progress.

Finally, the games will have some sort of connectivity with the DS, at the very least allowing players to use it as a controller. Whether or not this allows for some form of remote play remains to be seen.
