I can confirm to you all that this announcement is indeed a Gold and Silver remake as I JUST heard news of it from my buddy in Treehouse who has known for a while and while I knew (and actually told through PM a few people on GAF) I feel as though now is as good of a time as any to let everyone know.

Release is Late 2009 Japan release, Spring 2010 America.

Also, expect an announcement soon after E3 of a new Wii based Pokemon game compatible with these new games as well as Platinum.

I am inquiring for the PM itself, but since everyone should already know that Treehouse loves GAF (back from the Brawl days), this is all the confirmation I need. Also, the bolded is highly interested. Maybe it might be Snap 2 afterall?

Silver and Gold were my all time favorites of the series. Seriously, the Pokemon looked awesome and the Rival actually made you hate him and didn't make you feel bad when you named him after various explitives.

I think they should add the ability to catch Celebi, just like I was able to do legally on the Japanese Crystal.

If Nintendo is going to be remaking Gold and Silver, then there's a chance that they're going to be remaking Crystal as well.

In fact, I bet that's exactly what they're going to do.

...Regardless, I'll buy the Silver remake when it comes out.

It would be about time.

I also hope that this would be the time that they take in order to fully flesh out the storyline that was just....dropped by like the end of G/S. The whole Team Rocket, Red-haired Bastard/Rival and Giovanni angle deserved much better than that.

And with the hints that were shed in the last few games....well, why not?

GOLD + SILVER REMAKES WILL COME OUT!
Proof:
 - They did a R/G Remake , Whats next? G/S duh!
 - They need something new to come out after explorers of sky
 - ( addition to last one ) They need a game to come out that doesnt introduce a bagillion pokemon
 - ALOT of fans on pokemon forums have been asking

 -Gold and Silver Introduced Umbreon and Espeon , Daimond and Pearl Introduced Glaceon and Leafeon

 MOST IMPORTANT FACT:
 -~Deep Game Hackers have found location data of jhoto form D/P/Plat. AND Battle Revolution

Yeah, that's a good list of reasons, but that proves NOTHING. A lot of fans have been asking for Namco X Capcom, and that hasn't come out in English yet.

And later changed it to "Golden Smile" and "Silver Tears".

You know, now I feel dumb.

I've been using Pokesav for a while now, and I should have been able to pick up the fact that Jhoto was listed under the "Home" option when making a Pokemon.

Well, I guess that means that the Pokesav that works on Platinum will work on these new games, hopefully.
