Gabranth plays cool too. Despite his lack of Health attacks.

He's interesting, yeah. He's got plenty of brave attacks and from what I've seen, when he dodges successfully, he also gains brave. He shines in EX Mode, though which is why I'm glad he can charge. Problem is, unless you send the opponent flying, you have run away to charge.

I've tried everyone, and so far the only characters I don't really like so far are Exdeath and Emperor. Perhaps that will change as I get more moves for them, but as it stands it doesn't work well.

Yeah charge is pretty useless when you're fighting an agressive opponent. But at least you can pound your enemies so hard they won't inflict any damage whenever you charge.

Exdeath is what you expect from a tree: slow.

Truth be told, I've Exdeath Tricked most of my characters. Squall was pretty high before I Exdeath'd him and so was Kefka. However, I don't go straight for lvl 100. With Squall, he ended up going from.. I wanna say Level 60 to Level 80. Kefka went from 40 something to 80 something. In fact, thats what I did to nearly every character just so they wouldn't be so tedious to play as. I've only used the Exdeath trick once to make a character go from 1 to 100 and that was The Emperor. Cause really, I don't care much for him.

So usually, its anywhere from around a high lvl 40 to low lvl 80 depending on what accessories I use and what the bonus day is. I still finish grinding after that, I just can't stand not having anything to work with, like Firion. All he had was the [tornado fang]ing straightarrow.

All that said, Exdeath is by far the coolest villain. Look at him, he's too cool for a silly face:

Why does Bartz look so incredibly feminine? He always came off to me as a real go getting bad ass. Then I saw the art for the game and I was like "Who's the chick?"

His alt costume does not help, either

Because Nomura is incapable of drawing manly-looking characters (especially heroes) without also making them look gay or feminine.

I think it's because they wanted to keep some design elemets created by Amano. But I still prefer his FF5 version.

No doubt that Nomura is a good artist. The problem is that, in recent years, some of his original concepts really went out of hand. Versus has the most normal looking cast he created in years.

This. (Probably the fifth time I've quoted Hitomi to make a point)

Anyway, I've been playing since before it came out, because I'm broken like that. Squall and Bartz are level 100 and I've even done two videos on my tuber account if anyone is interested. Just me being lazy while fighting CPUs.

From personal analysis, almost all the characters are decent in their own way, competitvely, when you figure out how they play, their basic strategy and yes, get a chance to have all their moves. You can't totally define most of the characters without having a full move set. That said... this is where the almost comes into play. Shantotto... What. The. [tornado fang].

She's the most powerful blackmage. I get the fact she's a MAGE, but in a legitmate PVP fight, she won't last. Her lack of... well, usefulness against any aggressive player is depressing. And her HP attacks, while [tornado fang]ing awesome when she has the BP... you'll most likely never HAVE the BP to unleash her higher level tier spells. In theory anyway.

Gabranth is difficult to play as, but you can pull it off with the right accessories and what not. Hell, you might even be able to make a decent Shantotto with the right accessories. But from what I can tell, that's kinda the line. It's drawn between Gabby and Shantotto. Personally, my favorites are Squall, Bartz, Golbez and Gabby.

heck, the only character he didn't base off amano's artwork was garland

and that's only because he didn't have artwork by amano.

So its Amano I need to blame for Bartz looking ridiculously female?

Amano draws really amazing scenes, environments and monsters. But his characters are really really androgynous. With some few exceptions (like Sabin and Cyan).
