Hey, anyone wanna help me get my pokes from Diamond to Platinum.  I tried the GTS, but it's pretty unreliable, and ended up in me losing a Darkrai.  :'(  I'm up for a single battle if anyone's interested as well!

WELL I GUESS WE CAN BATTLE RIGHT NOW THEN

(You're not looking for a double battle, right? Because I mean my guys are gonna be just as hopeless at that as they were last time)

(Also that electivire still needs evolving so we're gonna have to do that first)

Well, get your Electivire evolved, and we can battle sometime over Friday/the weekend (it's late and I have to be up early).

We'll do Singles first, and I can [twin slasher] you in Doubles afterwards.

Let's be honest, it's not just doubles that I'm gonna get destroyed in.

Also yes this plan is most excellent.

I won't be able to battle/trade ATM, but I do have a question.  Seeing as Rotom's forms can't be used on wi-fi, is there really any point of me using them?  I wanted to use Fridge on a hail team, but it seems rather pointless in this scenario.

Just 2, I'll give them to you from my Diamond file, and then you can trade them to my platinum file.  I guess you can just use fodder pokemon to trade like Magikarp or something.  Here are my codes:

(Plat) 5242-0189-3775 - Aqua (Coastal)
(D) 1805-1656-7594 - Blue (Stephen)

Geez, that was a blow.  You had some pretty good prediction going on there.  I guess that's what happens when UU meets OU.

My prediction got my flygon killed when I thought you were gonna switch out lanturn. I coulda earthquaked and gotten the kill, but I thought you were gonna switch in something that'd be immune so I dragon clawed and ICE BEAM TO THE FACE.

PS quick summary of the battle for those that missed tonight's game.

my gengar comes out, his clefable comes out.
he switches out clefable for lanturn while my gengar misses with focus blast.
i switch in flygon and it ignores lanturn's thunderbolt.
i stupidly use dragon claw and get ice beamed to death.
send out lucario and it extremespeeds lanturn to death.
he sends out sandslash so i switch gyarados in, ignoring an earthquake in the process.
i dragon dance while he brings in clefable.
waterfall leaves clefable with like 20% health left and then TOXIC ORB FACADE CRITICAL LOL.
gengar comes out, kills clefable.
gengar sleeps shuckle and then kills it before it can wake up.
gengar kills lopunny before it can move.
gengar kills dodrio before it can move.
gengar kills sandslash before it can move.

Gengar seriously coulda killed his whole team on its own. [parasitic bomb]'s just ridiculous.

Prediction is something I need to get better at, as it makes up a huge chunk of importance as far as battles are concerned.  Had I switched out to Lopunny instead of Shuckle and reflected your Hypnosis back at you, the fight would have taken a whole different turn.  Experience is the best teacher as far as Pokemon is concerned.

Hopefully things will turn out differently once I get my snow team completed.  It's a mix of OU and UU, and it's a lot better at taking out threats like that.

Lopunny wouldn't have gotten the chance to reflect anything, 'cause I'd just have been spamming focus blast. No point putting things to sleep when you can just kill them with one hit.

Hm, good point.  That Gengar of yours was pretty scary; I don't know how it managed to lower my Shuckle's Sp. Def. TWICE IN A ROW, but it did.  Also, The fact that you outran my Dodrio (my speedy sweeper) was pretty irritating.  Tiers are certainly not for queers! XD

HEY. HEY ALL YOU GUYS WHO THINK PEOPLE SHOULDN'T BOTHER WITH TIERS.

YOU'RE WRONG.
Say that to my NU Lapras.

At least Pokemon tiers are more "measurable" than other titles.  But when most people think of that they think of the difference between Uber and OU.  Gauging the difference between OU, BL, UU, and NU, that's a whole other beast.

However, the mechanics of Doubles, ignored by the tier-rankers, can change the game drastically (easiest example: Wobbuffet; broken in Singles, worthless in Doubles).  While true to a lesser extent in Singles, it is many times more true in Doubles, that a Pokemon's strength on its own is nothing compared to its synergy with the rest of its team.  I've seen UU teams that can trash Ubers, especially after a bad prediction.

Well, I just cleared Stark Mountain (and collected my Heattran) in Platinum, and I must say, the Battleground is pretty nice.  I like how Platinum gives you a lot of nice places to train your pokes; allowing you to take on Gym Leaders and the like at much higher levels is a really nice training method.

@Tickle Buffalo: BTW, this is an example of how my team performs in its environment, if you were curious.

Pokemon is one of the few games where I feel it is necessary for a tier list to exist.  FIghting games have them as well, but they usually aren't that important; most characters tend to be useful barring joke characters.

Yeah, I've seen some pretty funny stuff done with UU teams on Doubles.  Regigigas for example, is NU normally.  However, with some good Skill-Swapping, he gets turned into a KO machine.

Gigas is NU too?

You know, I feel like Bowser in The Last Tier War when I say this, but the bottom really is getting bigger.  It used to be NU was reserved for the joke characters like Luvdisc.  Now it's 149 freaking characters, including quite a few previous champions that simply got nerfed and/or ignored in the last generation switch.

Yeah, I don't know why, but Smogon redefined UU and gave a rather large amount of pokes the boot into NU; my team was UU when I made it, but it's NU now.  It sort of takes the fun out of the game when 149 over half of fully evolved pokemon are considered 'never-used'.  Heck, the BL Tier ranks at only 7 pokemon now, which is odd.

I'm bumping for those that are still playing Platinum (I guess that would only be me... -_-)...

From Pokebeach.
Quote from: Water Pokemon Master
Pokemon.com has announced that Oak's Letter will be available for download to Pokemon Platinum players starting September 28th. It can be downloaded through Wi-Fi via Mystery Gift. The key item allows you to eventually encounter a Shaymin.

Once obtained, go to the northern end of Route 224. Professor Oak will be standing there, and after talking to him, you will be prompted to inscribe into a white rock what you are most grateful for. Following this, Shaymin appears and walks down a newly opened Seabreak Path, which leads directly to the Pokemon's Flower Paradise. It will be waiting for you there at level 30.

Once Shaymin is captured, you can induce its Sky Forme by taking it to Floaroma Town and obtaining the Gracidea Flower. Shaymin cannot be in its Sky Forme at night, when in a P.C. box, or when frozen, so make sure to use the Gracidea during the day!
Yeah, I know what you are thinking.
Platinum exclusive again.
(And I know this is 2 days old... -_-)

I'm watching you all. Always watching.
