Mario Kart Wii

Okay, okay, I finally cracked and just did what-the-heck-ever on the Mirror Cups. Okay, now I've got all the gold cups and the crummy bikes and karts for all my hard work and frustration. Now just to ~maybe...~ work on my Overall Ranking by getting some stars.

I've been skimped on the Super Mario Galaxy coin, but that's it.

Kinda annoyed at first, but there's not much I'd do with it.

Classic MegaMan, I don't know.  But it's pretty hard to play ZX without envisioning Vent/Aile yelling, "It's morphin' time!"

......maybe that's just me.

...oh yeah, ZX does that too, huh?

Yep, definite Sentai influence, then. Here's hoping some Ronin Warriors influence seeps through.

ZX / Re: Do you think ZX series would sell more if it was on Wii?
« on: August 29, 2009, 04:11:35 AM »
ZXA > ZX in all respects.

I don't have a Magical Talking Whatever and I don't have an Uppercut, and you may know your official canon, but Megaman ZX was far better than anything ZXA ever threw at us.

Granted, neither has any real replay value as far as the main game goes (Omega's fun to challenge, and it's worth going through 2 times for a Model X run, only in ZX), but ZX did everything better. Music, stage design, story, everything.

ZXA's Weapon Bar, "vague answers" story, gimmicked boss abilities, useless sidequest rewards, mediocre music and graphics, and general lack of IP enhancement and protection in the form of well thought-out cast and asset management (i.e. changing the 4 Guardians' original designs completely...), made ZXA one of the worst Megaman games Capcom ever put out, right there with X6 (which also destroyed the rightful conclusion to the X series, X5).

Now, the core design of X6 is not okay. The camera shows even less of what you need to see than X4 and X5 did, there's the whole Zero's diving attack ordeal, the Z-Saber completely obliterates the final boss, you have to exit stages to switch inane Parts, and did you SEE Blaze Heatnix's stage?! Heck, X's use of the Z-Saber is dismal, at best. He should have either had more power in that one shot, or had Zero's 3-stage attack. The Blade and Shadow armors are fan-level creations.

And Model X is not overpowered. Model X has range, that's it. Both X and ZX have the same very powerful spiral charged shot ala X2, it's just a matter of range. There are some players who make better use of the charged Saber Slam than veterans/Model X users manage that first, comparatively weaker charged buster. In fact, depending on your playstyle, you get more damage out of having ZX's 2 weapons as compared to X's 1 weapon.

I played Symphonia, then went on to Phantasia.

Won't play any more Tales of games for a while, though, because they seem to be too focused on items, sidequests, and money rather than pacing and combat.

Well I definitely see that influence in EXE and Ryusei. ESPECIALLY Stream/Beast and Ryusei, because the humans don suits/powers/etc., and there's usually a group of heroes in the cartoon and manga instead of more or less "lone-wolf"ing it in the games themselves. BTW, this all was probably part of the sales pitch to the Execs of the company.

OoT's Water Temple just isn't as difficult as it seems. It's a matter of how you explore and putting some forethought into grabbing the Small Keys (which is as much the fault of the stage design as it is on the cognitive ability of the player).

As for the 2D Zeldas, I don't feel justified in comparing those seeing as how I never played Link's Awakening (shoot, I may not get to finish OoT fully until after this semester of MBA work).

OoT had the story, cast, and pacing. Even the dungeons are fun to replay; I can't say that for any other LoZ.
MM had the scenery, bosses, and combat upgrades (plus other enhancing mechanics through the masks and Song of Double/Half Time, Bomber's Notebook, Time-Traveling Banker Girl with ADD, etc.).
TP had the collectible items (Bugs, Poes, Heart Pieces), graphics, and control mechanics on the Wii version.

The best LoZ game would combine these.
Overall, though, I probably would have to say OoT is the best overall from what I've played recently. The pacing is just infinitely better than MM and TP. The control mechanics are clunky at best, though, and the bosses are a sheer waiting game. Not hard, though they'll kill you if you get impatient having to wait out their attacks.

I finally got the whole story recently.

My first game was, in fact, Super Mario Bros. which was given to me on Christmas morning by (ironically) my mom, who has always had an underlying problem with my game-playing. Her fault! And she tried to pass it off on Randy who gave me the Game Boy and Tetris!

Sidenote: Wii Sports Resort is actually pretty fun; I already maxed out on Swordplay, and found all the i Point on the flyover mode!

I've always said that actual Brawl tournaments need to use the HP mode.

But hey, like they're going to listen; they're too busy crying about tripping and the lack of Wavedashing.

PFFT. SharkMan? Try BeastMan and BubbleMan. Those were hellish.

DrillMan, DesertMan, FlameMan and ToadMan to some extent, but you can prepare for them.

I wouldn't mind more magics though.
Or any magics.

I want those LttP medallions back. Screen clearing power? Why yes, please!

Also, make Link's sword shoot beams when he has full health again! We've been through enough games where he didn't have that option (save for a small cameo in Fierce Deity).

It doesn't add BC, it didn't make it a flat-top for console stacking, it didn't even improve the guts of the system. Either Sony knows exactly how to sell redesigned consoles, or they don't know ****.

And that'll all depend on consumer response.

I just want to know how the Biggoron Sword outclassed a legendary sword. The Master Sword may be touted more for its metaphysical and durability attributes.
