I'd totally buy this, even though I'm not real fond of grape-flavoured drinks (they all taste like Dimetap to me).  But damn, I totally want this in my fridge, even as just a conversation starter!

Starter? For most people, this would end that conversation and any future ones!

Unless they're down with internet, video games, and the like...OH, I GET IT, a weed-out process!
Good idea!

I'm done trying to argue this is an awful game, because it is.

This is just one of those arguments (like politics) where ain't nobody going to listen.

i wouldn't put in Rosalina or Midna. with potential new Mario and Zelda games coming out, their notability will be in the tank. come to think of it, i should tweak my Link moveset to eliminate the TP-specific stuff.

and Waluigi is a terrible idea for playable character. that's putting in a Mario character for the sake of. he's already an awesome Assist, anyway.

Their popularity is off the charts, and remember, SSB's favor the games of the previous generation.

N64 had Fox, Samus, Ness and Captain Falcon. Melee was just oozing with N64 references, with particular weight on LoZ. Brawl had a lot of Gamecube references, so far as throwing in Pikmin, SMS, and LM stages. Bitchslap would have Wii references, none the least of which would be Rosalina and Midna in some manner (Assist, Playable, Adventure, Stage Hazard, or otherwise).

As far as Waluigi, I like that character. They actually did a pretty good job of building him up. Wario didn't seem like a ripoff, since it's not too farfetched for Mario to have an evil relative. But when they announced Waluigi, okay, that's when things seemed a little silly. But after giving Waluigi the water element (see: Mario Power Tennis) and giving him a proper characterization that's a mix of being Luigi's rival and moreover Wario's Dick Dastardly-type comedic partner, I think he fits in pretty well. Playable? I...don't know. Wario has the WarioWare fame to sneak in, and that's about the only reason aside from the fact that LoZ has so many representatives.

Whatever she is, her last name should be Staccitori.

name any stages in particular.

X8: Dark Mantis, Gravity Antonion (I believe), Moon (although that was a bit easier)
MHX: Sigma Stages 2+ mainly, although Launch Octopus had one or two parts I had to remind myself about

(I tried playing EXE6, good LORD I had a hard time understanding all the crap that was happening >< )

Combat, or story?

Either way, I understood both. Then again, there's a lot that's "unknown" to MegaMan until later on in the game for a reason. Even then, if you've stuck by the EXE series for a while, the script wrote itself.

So they changed it to a button that was 2 centimeters away, big deal.

It is a big deal. It's been a double-jump to perform a Homing Attack since Sonic 3D Blast, it's intuitive since it's basically a second jump, and it certainly makes no sense now when you're training yourself to use that button for a "Boost".

They fixed something that wasn't broken to begin with (other than poor auto-targeting).

not really. well, not for me at least. I could see quite clearly what was stand onable and what wasnt. the exeption being pitch black, which is, well, pitch black.

It's more of a problem in strange or "laboratory" stages, which has oddly lighted blocks and tiles. That's when spikes are most likely to show up, though.

Think of it as it's own game, HyperSonic.EXE; don't compare it to the others or you won't stop grimacing because of what you're used to and your expectations.

Again, that only works for the controls, and it's not doing that too well. The game still lacks in making it worthwhile to play, especially for all you have to put up with.

You guys can settle for less if you want, but if this is the future of Sonic, I need a new Username and avatar.
EDIT: Fortunately, I won't know that until Sonic Team's next project, which will be well after Sonic and the Black Knight.

You sure about that? I've hardly played Adventure 2, yet I've adjusted to it just fine. Granted it's kind of odd how they set the homing attack to the same button as the boost, I realized why they did it when I got the aerial boost shoes. Realized and understood, just never really liked. Considering all of the other crap that Sonic's gone through, I think Unleashed was a damn fine game.

And see, this makes no sense. Now they're changing a crucial mechanic to suit an upgrade.

That.
Is.
Not.
How.
Upgrades.
Are.
Designed.

wut?

Until after some trial and error, it's hard to tell what's solid ground, and what's not.

If it makes any of you happier (not that I give a ****), I'm giving the game another try.
It's still way too late before I see one of those Boost Rings, or anything, by then, I've already passed it.

The cameras fine, and the speed is what EVERY sonic fan has been begging sega for for years. now that you get it, you complain? pfft.

There is such a thing as too fast. Like how X8/MHX's graphics are too realistic.

As far as wall o' text there, there is a point where you say "Okay, the controls and timing differ from Sonic Adventure/Rush/etc.; no prob, I'll adjust." But you can't even do that for how much of the objective of the game has been so twisted.

Oh my God, the brokenness that would ensue if someone was having an off day. Punishing the other guy for not being up to par with the guy eating his lunch would be cruel. I'd much rather prefer the idea Ballade suggested where it's a steady buildup based on how well you play. Maybe making the crowd cheer more often could emphasize that mechanic a la Paper Mario 2 (minus them throwing things at you or being visible mind you XD).

Also tethers are awesome, take that back. XD

Agreed on everything else though.

Well it wouldn't be that giving of Final Smashes. It'd probably take 3 or 4 K.O.s to build up your gauge, and there'd probably be some other way for the other player to get back on track.

Tethers are awesome...for those that have them! I dunno, it just feels like an automatic Up+B recovery, no skill involved. I suppose it's an advantage of the character, like ZSS or Ivysaur. I guess it could stay, if the range is nerfed ever-so-slightly.

Yep, good ol' fake Gold Zero.

Which is even scarier than Absolute Zero, if you've played X3.

Well, it is your opinion, so I'm not entitled to try and bludgeon you for it, but I find the demo experience refreshing, at least after suffering playing though every [tornado fang]ing possible plot path imaginable for ShTH, getting 100% on Sonic Heroes, and losing 75% of my sanity with Sonic '06.  -_-

Typically I don't backlash at this, but the way this game is, DANG RIGHT YOU'RE NOT!

This game is just...terrible. IMO, there's absolutely no way the fans can let another game like this be made. Again, it'd probably be okay if it were slowed down and somebody did something with the camera. If I can, I'll see if I can't adjust that, and maybe that'll help. Maybe.

Dont bash the game just cuz you suck...

If that were the trinkets and shortcuts only, well, that'd be one thing.

But no, this game isn't even taking the right approach to mechanics, stage design, and fluidity that we've had decent amounts of, and now it's just gone! It's the principle!

I'm still trekking after 5 stickers. UGH!

Agree on the bombs and sudden death.

Pikachu...I don't know. His Down+A Smash should have a little less priority, but other than that, he's about right. Maybe put Thunder a set distance above him? I dunno.

She's not the lead, but Rosalina is hardly eye candy (well, to me she is) and would do well. Midna's Twili form? Now THAT was eye candy, and it was so sweet, it tasted bad.

Tether Recovery was ridiculous; that should go. But then so was the Kirby characters' flight, Pit and Metaknight's gliding and Peach's floating. And Marth's Up+B priority.

Final Smash could be changed. I'd like to see it something akin to Dissidia's Break system where the character that's doing better gets to lay the smack down.

Create-a-character? Well, maybe if the next console has Miis, that would be alright. In the meantime, there's too many gaming icons to be pitting LOL ORIGENUHL CHARACTERZ against.

Oh when you do can you get the voice actor that did Tails voice in Sonic DX and Sonic Adventure 2 battle back please?  Seriously Tails should not sound like a girl!

I didn't even bother finishing, I was so horrified with what I was playing.

Oh, I see what you meant by "double bash"; BigManW has experienced it, too.

No, really, this is even worse than playing Final Egg in SA1, or either of Sonic/Shadow's space levels in SA2. Sonic Heroes was more fun than this. I'd rather play ShTH than this!

Whoa, just played the PS3 demo (I keep forgetting that these newfangled whatchajigits download demos these days :V).

What the HELL is this? This isn't Sonic. This is...I don't know WHAT this is. Like a furry F-Zero with somebody running. You can't even see where you're going, much less keep a straight line for rings. I was hoping to use the D-Pad, but nope, not that. There was one "homing jump" bridge of enemies where Sonic didn't even jump in time just to start off the chain!

The Ring Boost Gauge worked quite nicely, except for the fact that there's plenty of little trinkets which aren't even worth jack, that require you to cram down on the gauge almost the whole stage rather than use it strategically, because if you just happen to be at something other than THE maximum speed, you can forget it.

And Sonic's voice! UGH! IT'S TERRIBLE! Hasn't been this bad since Sonic CD's 1-Up.

This is unbelievably BAD. I thought Yahtzee was goofing off ripping mostly the Wolfhog segments, but NO, THE SONIC PARTS ARE BAD, TOO!

I'm so disappointed, right now. Maaan.

Also an EXE that isn't nearly as fun seeing as you get Zenny for 80% of winnings. ::)

Thankfully, there are busters that fix that.

...well, in RnR1, anyway. There might be the same buster in 2 and 3.

Hmm? Electronica was present in the retro stages and Pictochat, and Island in Wind Waker's ship stage and Delfino Plaza.

Hip-Hop. Hmm. I guess the DK series? I know there's another series I'm forgetting that could be useful for that genre.

Well you can definitely skip RnR1.

2 introduces Bly and its final boss, though, but I think that's about it. Somebody else can tell you more.

When in doubt, just parallel it to EXE.
(An EXE where Lan's dad is more or less dead, but still.)

Hey, those last two Giga Chips look interesting. The Megas show off some interesting characters (Why...so....SIRIUS?), and VULCAN
VULCAN
VULCAN
VULCAN
VULCAN

Okay, I might get this.

Ach! That's right!

The Custom Stage Builder was actually pretty disappointing. Capcom needs to give Nintendo some pointers (he said, as he pointed at MM:PU's stage builder).

Nah. Putting the characters in a semi-realistic light has really helped the image of the series, and has provided for some nicely detailed character models. R.O.B. and Toon Link looked like they had never looked before, and looked great.

Leave cel-shading to spinoffs, and the "squiggly" style to sports. That would be consistent.

1874
this.
they had finally gotten it right, all to abandon it now?
DO NOT WANT.

There are so many things not right with the X8/MHX visual style, it's not even funny.

The styling is okay, but clarify what's what! Can't even tell what objects are ground you can stand on, sometimes.
Or even hazards.
