Gaming / Re: Experiment: What Kind of Gamer Are You?
« on: December 29, 2009, 07:46:29 AM »
Anyway, to get back on topic: To be honest, I think your definition of hardcore is a bit extreme. I agree with the 6 hours a day thing, but owning most every kind of system? Not only that but 20 games for each system you own? But whatever.

I guess I'm softcore by your standards. I'm pretty sure I play atleast 3 hours a day in combined time, assuming I actually have time to do it. I own atleast one system starting from the second generation, and I'm sure I've had atleast 20 games for almost each system.
Hmm... Good point. I guess I may need to alter my qualifications a bit.

Gaming / Experiment: What Kind of Gamer Are You?
« on: December 29, 2009, 02:42:17 AM »
Okay, here's the scoop. I am thinking of an experiment to see who are the hardcore gamers, softcore gamers, and casual gamers. Here are my requirements for each:

EXTREMIST
-Meets HARDCORE requirements
-Owns all systems
-Owns 20+ games each

HARDCORE
-Plays video games for AT LEAST 168 hours a month (one full week of time, 6+ hours a day)
-Owns at least 1/2 of all systems
-Owns at least 10 games for each owned system (unless said system doesn't even have 20 games)
-Compete in National/Internation Video Game Championships
-Meets 3 of the 4 above requirements

SOFTCORE
-Plays video games for at least 84 hours a month (3+ hours a day)
-Owns, or has played several games on, at least one of each generation's systems
-Owns 10+ games for at least one owned system (this would be overall, including crap games that got sold back)
-Meets 2 of the 3 above requirements

CASUAL
-Does not meet any requirements of HARDCORE, SOFTCORE, or EXTREMIST

So, here's the experiment. I'm curious to know who fits under which category. To do so, I would need anyone wanting to participate in the experiment to keep track of how much time they spend playing video games in a month (28 days by the calculations I used), count all of the systems they have (including the ones that were put into a box in the back room because they don't work), and count their total games per system (including games that got broken and thrown away, and crap games that got sold to stores like Gamestop). Then, post your numbers here. A bit tedius, but simple.

You're not the only one here with that.  A good solid majority have it, myself included.  Just make sure never to use it as an excuse for poor behaviour and you'll be good to go.
Don't have to worry about that.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but I need to state it anyway, so here goes:

I have asperger syndrome. It's kinda like a variation of autism. I've known that I have it since 3rd grade, when I was about 9, I think, and I still don't know much about it beyond that it's resulted in me having organization issues.

Here's what the Sapphire Knight has gained from ths day:

-Light table (for tracing image from one paper to another)
-New sleeping bag (my old one is too small)
-Noodle Set (bowls, recipe book, and utensils)
-Kingdom Hearts: 365/2 Days
-Microphone (not the kind I wanted, but I didn't specify properly...)
-Ben 10 Alien Creation Chamber (Yay for no upper age limit!)
-Mint Chocolate Frango's
-2 Chocolate oranges
-Bag of Cashews
-$120 in CASH

I would go on, but I don't think late Birthday presents count towards Christmas.

Feh, it's almost like a curse around here when it comes to snow. When you want it to snow, it won't, yet when you want the snow to stay in the sky, we get, like, 6 feet of it! .... Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but still, you get the point, right?

Anime & Manga / Re: Yet another Death note school scandal.

*sigh* Amusing as this story may be, how they're reacting to fake Death Notes is almost as retarded as how that one kid died because he buried himself in sand because he thought it would turn him into Gaara. Seriously, it falls under the category of "it's a cartoon, it's not real", yet (extremely Christian) parents go "THIS IS THE WORK OF THE DEVIL!!! REMOVE IT FROM YOUR LIBRARY SHELVES IMMEDIATELY!!!" instead of turning to their kid and saying "Honey, it's a cartoon, and people in cartoon land follow a different different God and are all going to Hell because of it."

....

Why do I get the distinct feeling that I've, once again, dug myself into a hole?
