As Sapph had set up the tent he brought, which was big enough for two people (three if they squeezed in tight), he had let the 'Nightguard': Darkshine, Kaiser, and Rush.

Darkshine shot Mewtwo a light glare. "[Oy oy! You realize that the 3 of us are DARK types! And nocturnal to boot! I think we have better night vision!]"

"[Yeah, but he has actual thumbs and arms of a decent length.]" Kaiser pointed out. Even seated, the tyranitar would have to bend waaay over to pick up anything off the ground, while Darkshine, being an umbreon, ran around on all fours and had no thumbs to speak of.

"[That's what Rush is for.]" Darkshine scoffed, turning his attention to the fire.

"[Rush is already asleep.]"

Sure enough, as Hero had predicted earlier and Kaiser pointed out, the zoroark was curled up and sound asleep next to the tent. Sapph simply sighed before smirking. "Are we feeling inadequate, Darkshine?"

"[Shut up!]"

Overhearing the conversation between Sakura and Quickie regarding Mewtwo, Hero looked up at Sapph, who was fully dressed, helmet and all. "[Do you consider me a person, or a pokemon?]" He asked, tilting his head.

"That's a stupid question." Sapph said. "Think about how I've treated you and the others before asking that sort of thing." He continued, yawning. "Since when have I made a major decision without asking at least one of you for your personal opinion on it, or putting it to a vote?" He finished, looking down to his absol.

"[Good point.]" Hero replied. "[I still think Darkshine's idea of him, Rush, and Kaiser being the 'nightguard' when we end up camping out of towns is a stupid idea.]"

"And what's so stupid about them keeping an eye on things while the rest of us sleep?"

"[The fact that he declared Kaiser and Rush to be part of it. They're the least qualified to keep an eye on everyone in the middle of the night!]"

Sapph finished adjusting his things as he started leaving the hotel. "Well, it seems like I'll be gone for longer than I thought... I hope I'm just being paranoid about it wearing off..."

Hero, who was walking beside his trainer, sighed and shook his head. "[If the springs were gonna wear off, you wouldn't be out and about like this.]" He said.

"Yeah, you're right."

"Whoever it is, they were keeping tabs on me. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been sent to your place." Sapph said, crossing his arms. "And I'll bet 2000 pk it's just one of his followers that didn't get arrested or fall back to Team Rocket trying to mess with me... I hope..." He said, not sounding too sure.

(Note: The 'pk', my abbreviation for 'pokedollar', is the invention of the English translations of the games, as the Japanese versions were based on Yen. As I recall, 1 yen is just a smidgen over 1 cent. So 2000 pk is the equivalent of $20. Yes, I know it'd be easier to just type '$20', but I don't care.)

"[You passed out.]" Hero piped up, tilting his head from side-to-side. "[Kaiser was about to try to startle you awake.]"

Kaiser smiled at Venus, not quite understanding why she seemed interested in him, as he was completely oblivious to the fact that it was not normal for rock types to like swimming. He was also completely oblivious to how the Empoleon seemed to be envious of him.

Sapph, meanwhile, felt a shiver run up his spine. He could feel that something was up. But, for the time being, he'd rather not think about it.

(Time for another left-hook at the plot, and Team Rocket)

Meanwhile, back in Giovanni's office, the fax machine abruptly turned a red-orange, gained a peculiar smiley face, obviously possessed by a rotom. It started to spit out a faxed message very, very slowly. As the fax was printed, it could be seen that the peculiar color of ink was the color of dried blood, and the text made the message look written out with a finger. As soon as the fax machine finished printing the message, the rotom vanished.

As this was going on in Team Rocket HQ, the same thing was happening in Quickie's apartment. Same message, same color, same font.  The message that was printed only had 2 words: Obsidian Lives.
