Tager's 9th challenge is busted. For whatever reason Bang doesn't stay magnetized. Wonder if any others don't work. This isn't a problem for me, though, cause I did all of Tager's before the patch. He's the easiest to get all 10 with. It's a console only problem, too. I've played the PSP version, and all the challenges worked like they were supposed to.

If anyone's curious about an easy way to do 5000 damage in a combo with Platinum, just pick unlimited Plat against a Tager, build up 50 heat, and do 236236D. Depending on the positioning, the meteor shower should pummel Tager for over 5k. Only works on Tager because he's so big. I doubt it can work on anyone else; you'd get about 3.5k off most characters.

Speaking of achievements, the achievement for a 5000 damage combo with Valkenhayn unlocked posthumously for me. All I did was select Unl. Valk in a match, and I got both the Unlimited achievement and the combo achievement. I'm actually kinda curious about the 7 challenges achievement. Like, what would happen if you already had 7 or more done? I don't know cause I waited to do the 7th challenge until the issue was fixed.

Here's some relating to move notation. You know how forward, down, downforward is called a Dragon Punch or DP? And how the command for Geese's Raging Storm is called the Pretzel? I've got a couple like that. First is quarter circle forward, half circle back. I call that motion a Daifunka even though Bang is not the first to use it. If you do it backwards, as in quarter circle back, half circle forward, that's a Reverse Daifunka.

But there's one command that I was annoyed at for the longest time because there wasn't a good name for it. Half circle back, forward. Well I thought about it for a long time and I came up with an easier name for it: Fishhook. That's what it most resembles if I trace it out.

For some less complicated stuff, if there's a double tap down motion, I just call it a 22. And for a move that's down and a button in the air, I switching between calling it J2x, filling in whatever button is used, or I call it a Lumbo, named after a spammer of those types of moves. Elbow drops with Tager all the time.

Otherwise I just use standard stuff. Quarter circle forward, quarter circle back, DP, RDP, 360, 720. That's when spoken aloud. If I'm typing, I'll typically use number notation.

Had to be Cosmic Wall. On an average playthrough I'd estimate it would take a regular player around 8 minutes to beat the stage. The time bonus for that is like nothing. Also, the score requirements on Dreamcast are a fraction of what you need on Gamecube. On GC, you need 100000 for an A on Mission 5. On DC, it's like half that.

Oh wow, I can't believe I forgot this gem this whole time.

It's one my friend made up, actually. In Mega Man 8, in the Rush Jet sections, when you get the weapon that makes Rush shoot bullets in a spreadshot formation. He calls those Rush Rice Krispies.

Wow this thread is older than I thought. Whatever, I don't care, I'm reviving it.

Now that MvC3's been out for a few months, I imagine people have some lingo they use for it. I got some.

- First, as you probably know, it is imperative that you shout BIONIC ARM when a Spencer uses it. Well, I got a similar thing. If a Magneto uses Gravity Squeeze, you must spread your arms forward like Magnus. Shouting the name in a hammy fashion is optional.
- Doom's Plasma Beam is called Blast Puppy. That's what one of my friends thought he was saying.
- Hulk's Gamma Crush is called Hulk Bomb because the sounds it makes on a clean hit sound like a ticking time bomb.
- Finally for now, on this week's Wednesday Night Fights, the commentators were quoting
Double Rainbow
when a Zero would use Rekkoha then XFactor cancel into another Rekkoha. I was cracking up.

There's a bunch of others I use that I can't take credit for. Big Poppa Pump, Bubbles of Fun, Buff Bagwell, America's Favorite Combo, Dog, Lassie, Scooby, the list goes on.

455
Well Brawl I'll play as three of the four girls no problem (I don't play Ice Climbers). Game's a sausagefest. Actually, now that I think about it, I'll play as pretty much any girl in SSFIV except Viper for whatever reason. I'm not too big on playing as Rose either, but I'll pick her once in a blue moon. And I would play Ibuki more, but those subtle little changes from 3rd Strike to SSFIV throw me off.

And I actually will play as any girl in BlazBlue. But again I don't really know much for anyone aside from Makoto, Tusbaki, and CT Litchi.

Guilty Gear, though, I do not play as A.B.A, Jam, I-no, and even though she's my favorite character, Dizzy. If I played that game seriously, I would main Millia.

456
Which brings me to an interesting point that I brought up with Acid once over AIM. Anyone here notice that they gravitate more towards playing as guys or girls in fighting games? I fall into the latter, especially when it comes to traditional fighters. Chun Li, Ibuki, Makoto, Elena, Morrigan, B.B. Hood & Hsien-Ko pretty much dominate my selections in SF/DS respectively versus Ryu, Ken, Yun, Donovan & Demitri (though in the case of the Darkstalkers here, I think it's because I haven't gotten in depth with them versus the amount of time I've given 3rd Strike). Their play styles just jive with me better, but I still find it interesting to see that happen with me.

I do not discriminate. I'll play man or woman or whatever as long as their playstyle feels right.

That's a stupid question.

And it was only called Maru Mari in Metroid 1. Every other game on it was Morph or Morphing Ball.

458
I always gravitate toward rush down characters. The Makoto example is a perfect one for me. I'm open to grapplers as well. My favorite team in TvC was Zero/Alex. But really, I'll play anyone that isn't incredibly technical. There are sometimes exceptions, like in BlazBlue I'll dabble with Arakune and Rachel a little bit, but you'll never catch me dead playing as Carl. And then there are those that just don't fit into a particular character class, but I love playing as nonetheless. Tron for example is my main team's anchor in MvC3.

I never had 75% of those problems because I always held forward while spin dashing and stuff like that, even back in the Genesis days. In fact, I'd say being able to stop on a dime like that could be useful somewhere.

As for the rest of the stuff, yeah, you actually have to try to create those situations. i.e, You're Doing It Wrong On Purpose.

My stool looks better than that game.

Michiru Yamane!? I was already interested in this game, but now, gyatdamn.

The grappler must be B tier at least.

Just to clarify on a couple things. There will be no balance tweaks in this patch. Yun and Yang will still be bullshit. Also, giving the option to play as SSFIV characters does not mean you can mix and match like Hyper Street Fighter II. At the title screen, you can choose either SSFIV or AE and can only play from one roster.

No, no problem.

I played the game in 4 player not too long after it came out. And it was a nightmare. Anyone who fell behind was going to get dragged into a pit, and despite the zoom out, it still felt very cramped. We only got to stage 5 I believe. But every stage looked exactly the same. My friends who own the game say the environment does change later on, but the cannon fodder enemy types don't.

This is a 12 stage game. And they take several minutes to complete each. For what's supposed to be a spiritual successor to Strider, that's a [tornado fang]ing long game. And I've been told it's long for the wrong reasons. The game has a serious pacing issue, most notably the parts where you're locked to an area and are forced to kill a swarm of bees or something.

And to crouch you have to press a shoulder button. For a platformer, that's the dumbest controller mapping I've ever seen. It's about as dumb as forcing you to use an analog stick to move instead of a d pad, which this game also does.

At first I was pretty excited about this. "4 player Strider!? Oh this is going to be sweet." Until I actually played it. So I'm going to save my $15 and skip this game. My friends don't blame me. Now I'm going to go back and play a real Strider game: Hard Corps Uprising.

Anime & Manga / Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?

Just watched Evangelion 2.22. Wow. That was crazy. Also finished the second series of You're Under Arrest. It ended on a nice note, but I imagine just like from series 1 to 2, Ken and Miyuki's relationship will be back to square 1 in series 3. And I've now seen up to Episode 6 dubbed of Highschool of the Dead. It's creative take on the script has officially won me over. One line in particular in ep6. I'm not going to spoil it, but it's kind of like Kyon's "Super Size Me!" in the Haruhi dub in that it's American popculture and you don't see it coming at all.

Okay, so the date for Plat and the CS2 patch I posted before turns out is not true. It's a little later than that. Platinum and the CS2 patch will be released in Japan on May 10 for 360 and 12 for PS3. American dates are likely going to be similar. Platinum will cost the same as Makoto and Valkenhayn, 560 MSP and 800 yen. For 360, this apparently will also come with the fix for Valkenhayn's achievements.

There's also some tweaks included:
- The netcode is better, thank god.
- Player's PSR is displayed while in matches.
- If you're in Training mode waiting for a Ranked match, you can choose your dummy freely; you're not locked into one dummy at the start anymore.
- Specifications for Ranked are changed.
- Challenge mode will change to the CS2 version.
- When heat or some other meter is required in a challenge, the way it refills is different.
- And apparently there's more punishments for ragequitters.

The extra stories, Arcade modes for the DLC characters, the upgraded Legion mode, and Abyss mode are not included here. And I kinda doubt they'll ever be on console.

Finished Koihime Musou. It's silly, there's boobs, but the action isn't very exciting at all. The show just kinda felt empty overall. And then there's the two Shin Koihime Musou seasons, which I imagine will just be more of the same. Meh, I'll watch them if I'm bored.

Finished rewatching Welcome to the NHK. It definitely deserves a high rank on my anime Top 10. I recommend it to anyone who considers themselves an anime fan. It's very telling. And this was actually the first time I heard the last 6 episodes or so dubbed. I may give him a lot of [parasitic bomb] sometimes, but Chris Patton is incredible in this series.

Also checking out Akane Iro ni Somaru Saka. I wasn't sure at first, but I kept following the 5 episode rule, and I'll stick with it. In the beginning it was kinda dull to me, but things are starting to get better now. The character development is certainly helping.

Here's the news concerning that home release of SSFIVAE everyone was worried wouldn't happen:

- Has all the balance tweaks from the arcade, possibly more (Yun and Yang are so broken right now). If you don't like some of those changes, there is an option to play as the SSFIV versions as well. No Vanilla option, though.
- Yun, Yang, Evil Ryu, and Oni will be there. So there will be 39 characters total (at least. There are still 2 empty slots)
- Updates to the replay channel. You can view replays of anyone with 3000pp or more, follow your favorite players, and upload your own replays to friends.
- Titles show up in game above your health bar while online.
- All is packed into one DLC pack that costs $15. Released June 7.
- SSFIVAE will also have a standalone disc release. June 24 for Europe, 28 for NA, 30 for Japan. No news on its price, but I'd guess it would be $40 like SSFIV.
- A PC version is coming as well sometime in July.
- There will be no more iterations of Street Fighter IV after this.

I guess I'll put in a last minute note about Japan Relief Done Quick, a speedrunning marathon done by my bros at Speed Demos Archive. I'm not playing anything, but I'll be talking from time to time. Everything's at speeddemosarchive.com. The action should start in 5 minutes. With God Hand.

I still need to shop around for a third character. Tron will definitely be my anchor, and Zero could fit either on point or in the middle. If Zero's in the middle, I might go with She Hulk on point. If Zero's on point, I may try people like Taskmaster or Sentinel.

I'm sure some people like the raw power of that full charge shot.

I never knew people thought Windman was an Airman Wannabe in the first place... The only thing they have in common are the fans. Plus I don't even remember Windman ever shooting air or wind at any point during the fight. Just those silly propellers.

I'm having trouble remembering if he does either. But I rarely play MM6. What can be said though is Wind Storm is a poor man's Air Shooter.

473
Ugh, I guess it is true. I just can't believe it. I would really like to hear the exact reason(s), though. Cause I'm sure they're not canning it because the demo was slipshoddy. If it is because of Inafune's departure and/or the earthquake, I'd understand.

I'm more concerned about this:

but Heatman is inferior to Fireman in terms of bossfight, stage, music, weapon.

I mean to each their own, but that is one hell of a claim. Most everyone will disagree with at least a quarter of that statement.

475
Looking at what date it is, I don't believe it for a second.
