Awesome, seeings how I always kicked myself for not being able to play with the cool PAL people who visit RPM. 8)

Of course, whether or not my Fire Emblem addiction subsides by the time this game is out is another question...

I'm curious to know if this game will support the remote/nunchuck configuration from Tri.  I'm guess not, since I'm seemingly the only person in this hemisphere to play it without a Classic Controller Pro.  Still, it would be nice...

Also, some manner of dialogue.  I know, I know, Supports are asking too much given the ludicrous number of conversations already in the game, but I'm talking about the brief comments for level-up, shopping, etc.  It's odd just seeing "..." and "..!" all the time.

So, beat Hard mode with minimal spoilers.  Loved it.  Might've tweaked a few things, but still great.

Now I'm debating what difficulty I want my "100%" save to be.  More to the point, if I'm crazy enough to do Lunatic, or if I've completely lost my mind and want to attempt Lunatic+.

If I do Lunatic+, since gold is no object once the DLC gate is open, I might just use the "max stats M.U. logbook" exploit and tank my way through Lunatic.

Even if I stick to Hard, though, I still have to restart.  Damn gender-exclusive skill inheritance...

I like the Second Seal in that it makes growths a matter of ease rather than the be-all-end-all of your results.  You don't need to see a character you love get screwed by their gains; you just have to keep at it longer.

The gender-exclusive skills as they relate to child-bearing kinda threw me for a loop, though.  I mean, not as if I can't whore Galeforce out enough as it is, but I'd have kinda liked to take full advantage of the possibilities (maybe getting a few more Counters out there) if I knew what they were up front.  Oh well, comes with deciding to play the game unspoiled.

Marriages on my save are as follows:

(click to show/hide)

I never played Radiant dawn, so I don't really know much about her character. She looks cute though, too bad you can't marry ghosts.

Then again, with most of these characters I don't know much about the character. Y'know, since the majority of the series is Japan only.

Only ones I'm looking forward to are Lyn and Ike, but I'll still buy the rest since loldisposableincome.
I'm glad that Micaiah is there, but I do admit her depiction is a bit off.

Basically, Micaiah is a Light magic specialist, and there IS no Light magic in Awakening.  So they made her a Dark Mage, since they're the only "non-mainstream magic users", and their standard outfit looks sexier.  Of course, the game's "current" Dark Mages are all psychologically disturbed, so that's a little weird.  I do like her art, but yes, it's definitely different.

It's also kinda weird seeing her without Sothe.  Those two are INSEPARABLE in RD, to the point where Sothe is generally a required unit.

Why's that?
Though all of the costumes for the DLC characters (Pr. Marth notwithstanding since his outfit is in the game.) are pretty crap since they all look so damn generic.

Maybe if they do something like this again, we can get non-generic units.
I'd settle for non-generic heads, to be honest with you.  It seems like they're pulling existing facial expressions and hair styles; and if the character has ANY manner of headgear, it just doesn't work.  I got Sanaki on Spot Pass, and...yeah.

I haven't really had the time to invest in DLC characters, though I'm collecting them just because.  Took Roy and Marth for a little spin, but that was more or less it.  I do admit, though, seeing Mist as a War Cleric would be pretty cool.

To me, the visuals looked pretty darn sweet, but as I never actually owned a 360/PS3 I wasn't constantly immersed in the "HD graphics" stew of the last five years.  And Sony trying to do a gaming-facebook-profile thing is interesting.

But at the end of the day it'll all be ridiculously expensive, probably cut half of its advertised features, and have few games that interest me outside of Armored Core.  It'll still be fun to look at, though.

Hmmmm, it's possible. Perhaps we should discuss this pricing & console wars matter in bed!  [eyebrow]
What are you, an animal?  Do you not see how grossly wrong that was?  Learn how to treat a lady!

The bed's too crowded; try the hot tub. :V

Quote
I dunno, you could be right. If the original 360 proved anything, it's that it can have a more than 50% failure rate at one point and still sell. Outside of a gaming system, I can't imagine any other piece of electronics hardware being able to accomplish that. I agree that the 360 is probably more popular in the US than the PS3. One thing the PS4 has going against it that the PS3 had was the Blu-Ray player addition. So a $500 price tag for a mere gaming console is steep. I wonder if the new XBox will go with a Blu Ray player. I dunno, I'm just skeptical about half a grand for gaming. But that's me though.
In all fairness, Blu-Ray wasn't the "definitive" disc format when the PS3 came out.  There was that long and bloody format war to decide that after the point.

momentary break from Fire Emblem...

I just wish they'd release something other than the same NES games that most of us already have three+ copies of.  I mean, I'm desperate enough for Mega Man on my 3DS that I'm buying them a fourth time anyway, so I'm sure Capcom doesn't care.  But all the same, those GB/GBC games would be swell.

...'specially Xtreme2, but looking at the X-series' fate on the Wii VC, I gather that I shouldn't hold my breath.

Oh, and just so that this thread is at least 1% not derailed: New XOver battle music.  I guess after their one original track was so awesome, a follow-up was as close to dignified as anything in the game was going to get.  At least somebody in audio takes their work seriously, circumstances not withstanding.

[parasitic bomb]
That discussion was over for the last seven posts prior, and I'm the obsessive threadjacker who can't let stuff go.

Thank you for amusing me.

She probably wears Zero's extra pair of briefs.  Yes I agree this is more interesting than the arguments.
Who wouldn't? :V

I think it's more because PXZ isn't really doing well in Japan.
It's actually because the Tekken director guy was pushing for the localization, IIRC.  The first I heard of PxZ bombing was from Objection Man.

'course, maybe it bombed anyway, I don't know.  I heard no official reports either way.

...in all honesty the musical instrument quality of the game is sub-par.  I just don't care when I see that Hadouken/Genmurei combo.  Or Iris.  Or Reiji and Xiaomu.  Or Iris.  Or the giant Servbot.

......

Or Iris.

I mean hell, I was at the official launch event for the whole shebangabang. It was practically an unofficial RPM meetup! XD
Damn, that was fun times.  I'm amazed nobody from then spotted me in the next two years; you'd think a 6'5" Luigi would be hard to miss.

Yeah, so the 4th came, nobody had it, the 5th came, and I got the LAST copy at Target.

*whew*

Game is awesome, and wholly responsible for my dropping off of the internet all week.

I'm a little disappointed that the Einherjar can't Support.  I mean, this game places a HUGE emphasis on Supports (and I love it), so that's kind of a downer.  It might not matter, though; I'm having a hard time marrying everyone off as it is.

He didn't just say 'get over it', he said 'get the [tornado fang] over it'. Because it's boring watching you all campaign for a lost endeavor.
If I cared whether or not I was entertaining you, that might mean something.

And what are you, 10, that you're still impressed by people swearing on the internet?  I know, you hear grown-ups do that all the time, but they do it to vent, not because they think it'll make anyone listen to them.

For the record, Ruri, that's what I sound like when I'm laughing at people, as opposed to laughing at a piece of code, or at marketing & development strategies.  It would be helpful if you learned the difference.

Moving on:

Oh it's been a year and a half already, get the [tornado fang] over it.
We spent a decade "getting over it" before Capcom opened it up again.  After getting that close, a year and a half doesn't come anywhere NEAR the level of build-up that came before.  You can't say that about either Universe or XOver.  I'll [sonic slicer] about it for as long as I please.  That's what random people on the internet are supposed to be good at, anyway.

Do you think I give a damn how hopeless it is?  I don't.  Capcom could tell us that they put their only copy of all builds, source code, and resources from Legends 3 into an incinerator.  I still wouldn't care.  There was already damage done to the 3DS project that can never be undone (for instance, the fact that they would have to completely re-think their marketing and development strategies; bringing the Devroom back without adequate consumer confidence is extremely risky, and their unusually gutsy and insightful plan to target early adopters is out the window).  Do I want to see the 3DS game again?  Absolutely.  Do I believe that, ruling that out, Capcom should at LEAST re-brand the Legends 3 Prototype so as to remove any expectation of a retail follow-up and get it the [tornado fang] out there?  Totally. It'd go a lot further to mending relationships than throwing their name behind a fangame, and it'd be a lot easier for them to make some money off of it.

But even if that never happens, and I'm not so naive that I don't realize it probably will not, the fact that Capcom has no intention of touching the 3DS project again does not change my intention to take every opportunity to assert the fact that Legends 3 is still the kind of game that I want to see from Capcom, moving forward.  The entire Legends SERIES, is the kind of game I want to see from Capcom, moving forward.  If I didn't "get over" that in the last 13 [tornado fang]ing years, I'm not going to "get over it" now just because you said so.

Actually, the opposite is true.
Not only were the trailers out there
, but Universe was playable at public events before it was cancelled.  I got a taste of it myself.

I find it sad that you people complain about how much you want Legends 3 and put effort into only to then laugh in someone else's face when they do they same for something they want.

You are terrible hypocritical people.
First of all, all of my negativity was directed at the game, not the fans.  I'm laughing at a piece of programming, not at a group of people.

Second, I'll gladly be the hypocritical prick if that's what it takes to strike down the flawed logic of "the only reason anyone cares about Legends 3 is because it was cancelled".  Universe is the control group that proves it false.

Third, no it isn't the same. Nobody opened up development of Universe to the public, and granted full coverage of the initial greenlight meeting, only to cancel it without warning behind closed doors five months later.  Nobody ever said that the reception of a trial version of Universe would decide the game's fate and then pulled said trial before it could be received, after specifically asking the target audience to be patient for it following a nonspecific delay.

And perhaps most importantly: Mega Man Universe was nothing new.  It had the exact same strengths and weaknesses of Powered Up, which failed, and applied them to Mega Man 2, which Capcom had already spent the last two Classic installments dry-humping.

Make no mistake, despite my being unimpressed I still would have bought Universe if it came out.  And I'd have loved to see it overturn my expectations the way MM10 did.  But the bottom line is that Universe had a lot to prove, made a playable appearance, and through that playable appearance, proved nothing.  And all of that was before Inafune left; I'm not sure anyone besides him understood what exactly the game was supposed to be in the first place.  I can't in good conscience tell Capcom that they were wrong to cancel it.

Absolutely none of that is applicable to Legends 3.  The devs were psyched and on-track, the response from the extremely few who did play it was positive, and a full-featured 3D adventure could have gone a long way to establishing Mega Man as a relevant force in modern gaming, as opposed to the NES relic that he's otherwise been easily dismissed as ever since the nostalgic shock of MM9 wore off.  Capcom destroyed it all because it was a "dead brand" fueling a too-scary-open community.  Bull.  [parasitic bomb].

As desperately as I want the game, there's more to it than that.  They were wrong to cancel it, and doing so was a detriment to the franchise.  I happen to also really want to play Rockman Online, but I wouldn't throw the same weight behind it.

I know, right?  I try to keep that link handy whenever somebody claims that Legends 3 is only popular because it was cancelled. >w<

It's amazing how taking Powered Up 2, giving it [parasitic bomb] controls, and trying to pass it off as the aesthetic middle ground between Disney's Tron and Angry Birds, doesn't get you much in the way of recognition.  The only thing that game proved was that Inafune actually CAN make "mega" catch-phrases sound badass.

I hate to be "that guy", who says that the world is better off for a game that I have little to no intention of playing being unavailable to the rest of the hemisphere just because.

But, here's the thing: In any sane world, XOver is not to be directed at us.  We know it, CoA knows it, the birds crapping on Sven's roof know it. It's a throw-away designed to stick Mega Man's name into the heads of people who are looking for a zero-value time waster.  Does CoJ know that? Honestly, not so sure. Problem is, we ARE being drawn to XOver for the sole reason that Capcom has jack [parasitic bomb] otherwise. It's NOT the game for us, but it's all we've got, and that in turn damages confidence in Mega Man as a brand.

XOver cannot carry the franchise.  Period.  CoA sees that and probably wants to at least hold off until it can run alongside something else.

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

So, played SSB Melee, Marth and Roy are awesome, but they have next to no presence in any games localized afterwards. So, I passed.  Then one day, I spot PoR in a Sears bargain bin.  Why not?

Positively hooked by the third chapter.

No brick; the transfer doesn't delete stuff on the Wii end until it's fully copied to the SD card.  I got to put that theory to the test MANY times.  The problem is if the file that's fouling up the transfer is non-movable in the system menu (ie: save data to ANY game that connects online for any reason; thank you, scoreboard fanatics).  Then you're stuck deleting stuff at random, that you cannot normally recover, trying to find the issue, or else you just give up.

That alone is bullshit.  But, if an error should for any reason strike AFTER your data is on the SD card, while it's being read by the WiiU, then you are SOL.  The Wii is out of the equation once the data is written to the SD card, so the system's data is deleted then, without ever verifying that the WiiU read it successfully.

I learned a valuable lesson today: BUNNIES DO NOT GET ALONG WITH PIKMIN!

Yeah, with news of the WiiU VC incoming, I decided it was finally time to do the Wii-to-WiiU transfer.  Got the "$400 screen of death" in the middle of it.

Did some searching, read that non-movable save files might be the culprit.  Not willing to sacrifice my progress for the sake of my purchase history, I began the painstaking task of eliminating my "normally console locked" saves one at a time.

The offending save data was Rabbids Go Home.  Restored my Wii from a BootMii backup, deleted ONLY the Rabbids Go Home data, and the rest transferred safely.

Thank you, Team Twiizers!

Touche. XD

Wind Waker may not benefit as much from resolution and textures, but the new lighting DOES look pretty sweet.  Still, it's not my favorite style for the series (raging over PB's use of Toon Link in Brawl doesn't help any), and I'll probably still be left wishing that the Twilight Princess HD demo from before the system release was an actual game.

Gaming / Re: Hell freezes over? Project X Zone is getting localized!

It's a natural conclusion when you consider that the system is more successful in Japan than it is here, though.  There was a bit of back-and-forth between Reggie and Iwata on that a couple months back, with Reggie claiming to suffer a "visceral reaction" when Iwata himself observed such.

It's kinda hard for a system to NOT have a smaller library than its predecessor when it's still within the first two years of its life.  I mean, even assuming no increase in dev time and a linear understanding of...well, you get the idea.  And I'm certainly not saying that there aren't good 3DS games here.  I cannot POSSIBLY trash the system library that gave me Kid Icarus Uprising.  But suffice to say, there are plenty of reasons for 3DS owners to curse the region-lock (and/or their own inability to read Japanese).  PxZ was the biggest one on my personal list, but it's kind of the tip of the iceberg when you look at the system library as a whole.

And hey, just a thought, this may have something to do with why Pokemon X/Y is launching simultaneously worldwide, which is a first for the franchise.

In fact, why don't you make the VC games (NES and GBA at least) cross-compatible with the 3DS, so I don't have to buy those games I got for free again.
There have been rumors of Miiverse/Nintendo Network IDs coming to 3DS, and if that does happen, then I suspect that some strides in that direction are inevitable.

I'm sure they'll still arbitrarily decide what is and isn't available for emulation on a given system (by the same token, I do not in any way expect the entire Wii VC NES/SNES library to be upgradable on day one to WiiU), but if they ever do "unify" the Nintendo Network ID with the 3DS, then one would think you should only have to purchase one time a VC game that is available on both 3DS and WiiU systems.

Those of us who already have it on both are probably screwed, though (I like Punch-Out!! and Mega Man, sue me).

Yes, NINTENDO is the one who needs to learn about making cheap, economical consoles...

I think probably a combination of that and it being on a system that didn't quite take off as much as everyone expected it to. The 3DS has been in troubled waters since it's release.
Really?  From what I've heard the 3DS is more or less kicking ass in Japan, just not the instant print-money that everyone wanted (let's be honest here, anyone who thought the DS and Wii success rate would be duplicated just because Nintendo snaps its fingers, is an IDIOT, and the DS wasn't even super-popular at its launch either).  It's having more trouble overseas, although, the fact that half its [parasitic bomb] isn't making it out is kind of WHY.

The launch was troubled all-around, but remember that all of that emergency marketing crap was over a year ago.  Between Kid Icarus, Layton, Resident Evil, the 9 different flavors of Mario, a competent online structure, and Monster Hunter (in Japan), 3DS busted some serious heads in 2012

To be honest I never really thought the game looked that amazing to begin with. People here mostly only jumped on it because omgmegaman
Do we NEED another reason?

But I actually jumped on it because omgnamcoxcapcom2 (plus Sega)

Real life commitments and having to ration my time with even a single system's library is one reason.

Mind.  Blown.

From the many things of awesomes.  But above all, those Yoshi-yarn screens made my day.

If I read it correctly, you only have to pay if you want to play it on the WiiU VC and Gamepad. That's it.
Well, you can ALREADY transfer it over for free.  That's the thing.  You pay to upgrade your transferred (for free) Wii games to the WiiU version.  Which is to say, you're paying for:
-Gamepad
-Miiverse
-Putting it in the WiiU menu instead of the Wii menu
-Not putting up with the Wii menu's F*@#!ING CRAPASS MORONIC 512MB STORAGE LIMIT. O:<

Let's just say I will be far more inclined to pay attention to N64 VC games once they have them up on the WiiU...

...well, Pan isn't wrong.  Except for the fact that a lot of those games tend to have crappy single-player modes.

from what i see is that all the people from the gaming sites especially the gaming media always seem to bash sony and the ps3, but they favor the 360 and other consoles more.

why do they do this? why all this fanboyism? i love the playstation brand and i don't understand why people would hate it, it brought so many good games to the table. I personally don't like Xbox because it's mostly full of first person shooters and i know it has some good jrpgs and some shmups but they are not really in my interest, besides these kind of games would feel more suitable on ps3 anyway because sony is a japanese company while microsoft is a american company, but aside from that, both companies have their weaknesses and strengths, i just wish Sony would do better in the marketing department. Nintendo on the other hand.... i just don't really care for anymore, because it looks like they don't really care for the hardcore players, even with the Wii-U, because it's still lacking some features that ps3 and 360 already have.
...you seriously pulled the whole "neutral appreciation for consoles" card in the same post as "Nintendo doesn't care about hardcore gamers"?  Wow.  Okay.  Um...  I can't really refute that in any way that compensates for the complete shame that I feel for taking your line of logic seriously.  So...  Yeah.
*goes back to Fire Emblem*

I actually thought that the PS3 got away with the LEAST amount of fanboy hate across its generation.  I mean, yeah, all three parties got their fair share.  But most of it came from the whole casual-vs-HARDCOOOORE rift, and with all the flamethrowers aimed at Wii and Kinect, PS Move got away rather unscathed by comparison (although that may be because nobody cared about it enough to hate it).
