I know I'm late, but:

- All 493 Pokemon can follow you around, you can see Steelix and Wobbuffet following the trainers in the scans
F)*(#&$^% YEAH!  Game is sold (as if the promise of a Kanto Gym Leader remix wasn't enough).  I get to show off my DRAGONITE POWER at all times. 8)

Now up to rematching Super Macho Man.  And I gotta say, the intro of him being jealous of Mac with the ladies never gets old. 8)

If I could take Wii screenshots I would SO have that one saved.

'tis a shame, as I feared, that the protector kit is Star Force themed, otherwise I'd have picked it up lickety-split.

Oh well, maybe Cappy will expand the lineup later on.  Doubtful, but you never know.

So, Hoenn's 'mans are the first old-legends revealed?  *sighs*

These games had better have some frikkin' Mewtwo, is all I can say, lest Nintendo receive many boots to the head.  We ARE supposed to be revisiting Kanto in G/S, after all...

I mean Jeffrey Watson as Megaman. 8D
Urge to kill rising, probably due to my recent time with ZX Advent and the fact that Jeff and the rest of the trio didn't appear.

Oh, what could have been....

X / Re: The Z Buster
« on: June 06, 2009, 09:02:42 PM »
Specifically, it was stated in character profiles on the Z1 Remastered Tracks website.

Ultimate Buster is an X-only chip. you're probably thinking of Buster Plus.
Or Overdrive.  Kinda pointless on Zero, IMHO, since the X6 Z-Buster rocks all socks regardless, but it's a nifty effect to see.

What exactly is the power this thing packs in X5 and X6? Its slow in X5 and pretty meh, but everyone where I've read about X6 says its more powerful. I've notice both seem more powerful at close range, but other than that I really don't see how much energy these things take from an enemy. Anyone got any info on it in comparison to the X Buster?
What makes the X6 Z-Buster awesome varies depending on who you're shooting at.  Either way the speed beats the hell out of X5's pointless charge-up.

On stage enemies, at close range, a single Z-Buster shot scores repeated hits, causing huge damage.  But what I REALLY love about the Z-Buster is its effect on bosses.  Against any boss, at any range, the Z-Buster always scores high damage.  You can wipe out the likes of Blizzard Wolfang and Sigma's first body without having to even move.  Works great on Rainy Turtloid, as well, since it's impossible to use Hydroga on him.

You guys are evidently slipping in my absence, as nobody pointed this out:

The top-right picture is *NOT* from X5, it's from the X6 intro video.  X5's image is not in that aspect ratio, and the beam effect is different between the two as well.

Rockman Series / Re: Once and for all...
« on: June 06, 2009, 08:33:36 PM »
Damn, all series merged into the poll, that makes this a pain in the ass.  My top three are Mark Gatha (SIGMAAAAA!!!), and the two Legends actors (yes, I even enjoy the Sailor Juptior-Trigger, I'm THAT nuts over Legends).

"Dario" didn't do a half-bad job as Vent, though.  Or at least he beat the hell out of Aile's actress (and where is she on this poll, anyway?).  His dialogue was for the most part bland and yet in cutscene he sounds awesome, probably the only character in the game who could make "Megamerge" sound tolerable.  If he had more time with the character, I think he could nail it.

3860
Despite not owning a PSP, I STILL want to see MHX2 if for no reason other than to get my grubby hands on a proper remixed X2 soundtrack.  *drools over intro stage and Zero's theme*

ZX3 is what I want to see most at the moment, if only because it's the series that I feel has the most potential at present, but ONLY if the story moves back to Vent and Aile.  Advent was a great game, but not a great sequel, as the shift to new heroes left expectations from the first ZX game largely unfulfilled.

And even though there will never be enough people talking about them, I'd love to see more Xtremes.  I can just imagine what could be going on during the interim of earlier X-series titles.

Finally, you can never discuss future MegaMan without mentioning Legends 3.  Everyone and their dog wants it, what more can be said that hasn't already been?

News and Announcements / Re: Mega Man Legends 3 Listed For 360/PS3?
« on: June 06, 2009, 08:15:35 PM »
Much as I want to see L3, I'm almost glad the announcement is fake due to my lacking access to a PS3/360.

I really hope Capcom doesn't pull something like that again.  They keep trying to push Classic, X, and Legends on the "cool" consoles, and their response has been consistently lukewarm throughout the PS2's lifespan and the PSP was generally indifferent.  I really think the Wii, demograph-wise, has a better chance (and before anyone mentions the 3rd party hardships on the console, RE4 already proved that there are enough oldschool gamers who know a good Capcom brand when they see one).  Not as if you need all that horsepower for an anime-styled game, anyway, and I'm dying to point my namesake at some poor Reaverbot before blowing the crap out of them.

"DSi Mega Man 1GB Kit"?

GameStop is listing a strange item by the name of "DSi Mega Man 1GB Kit." Details are very scarce; the page classifies the item as a "memory card" produced by Interworks Unlimited. Mega Man branded SD card perhaps? Well, whatever it is, it's scheduled to release June 16th, 2009 for $19.99.
Hm, well I lost my crappy ancient 128MB card (kept it for some obsolete GBA apps on my M3 Perfect), so provided it's not Star Force branded, I'll probably nab that one.

I'm playing and loving it.  Only thing that ticks me off about it is that Mac's version of the fight music won't play in Exhibition, so if you like it, you have to start new Profiles and redo Career mode.

But man, this game is FRIKKIN HARD.  I only ever got to Super Macho Man on the NES, but even so, the way opponents screw with you in punch timing and specific dodge directions is quite evil.  But the game is no less badass, and I love it.  Thus far I've crawled my way up to Piston Honda in Title Defense.

BTW, Soda Popinski's animation during a 10 count had me laughing my ass off. 8)

I say me since I can match him in Brawl, if not better.
That "match" part works both ways, pup.  And I'm afraid PB's Toon Link gives me a lot more trouble than you could ever hope to.

Then back to the original plan of TITS OR GTFO? =3 :P
Wrong thread for that.  If I start talking about ex-girlfriends, then we'll be cooking.

Well, even though I tend to be photo-shy on the internets (gotta beware of ax-murderers and all >.> ), I'll show myself this once.  However, nobody manned my camera at the wedding, so it'll be a while before I get family photos and/or the photographer gets back to me.  Nevertheless, I can share a few from engagement and honeymoon.

First of all, despite my being twice her size, she is older than me (not sure how long I can say that without having to dodge, so I want to get it on record now).  Good news is she didn't have to lean when I proposed.

Actual proposal was Christmas '06.  This is of course a re-enactment, but it is on-site.  Proposing to her was risky business, because you see, there's another man in her life.  Worse, it's one of those damn arabs:

(click to show/hide)

Nethertheless, the wedding went on with only minor skirmishes, which I will share when the professional photos return.  The wedding went on, and we made our getaway the day after.

(still cautious about that guy in the background, you can never be too sure.)

So now I have the ring.  And yes, my schwartz is as big as yours. :P

On a more aggravating note, to any who intend to travel after getting married: TAS (the government security screening guys) is an ass.  Because they are a separate agency from the airlines themselves, any help guy you get at the airline knows nothing about them, even when specifically asked, will not inform you that TAS requires your ORIGINAL (as in not a copy) marriage certificate should you have entered your wife's married name before her photo ID has been updated.  If you don't have it, and cannot conveniently get it (say, due to living a few hours from the airport), TAS may suggest you have the airline change your ticket at the front desk.  Your airline will then inform you that that is illegal.

This is what passes for airport security 8 years after 9/11.  Brilliant.

Anyways, actual wedding day photos will be available when the photographer gets back to me, which will probably be a few weeks.  He offers them digitalized, though, and he's not a DRM prick, so getting them up should be easy once I have them.

The unthinkable has happened:
Someone's crazy enough to marry me. =P

Been engaged since Christmas Eve '06, and the big W-day is finally here.  I'll be out of action for a little over a week, not that I've been terribly active lately (no internet at the new home yet).  MIGHT be able to check in on my DS if I find a decent hot-spot, but then I expect to be busy. So, my buds, bye for now.  And don't blow anything up while I'm gone!

Zero / Re: A Zero remake..
« on: May 20, 2009, 03:28:47 AM »
I gotta agree with Flame that X5 blew as a possible series ender.  Such an obvious cop-out as a boss explosion death after the baddie is already beaten leaves a lousy taste in one's mouth.  About the only thing X5 did right, story-wise, was referencing Iris and giving us a glimpse at the kickass viral-infected Zero in the alternate storyline.

And do not get me started on the gameplay flaws.  The title was a lot of experimentation and very little polish.  Ironic that X6, rushed as it was, corrected most of it.

Well, aside from the terrible nightmare bs that I've never thought was good, after replaying X4/5, my problems with X6 are nearly all gameplay issues. The levels are just really really frustrating and meh. So thats the direction I dislike, there. Again, aside from the Nightmare stuff, I really liked that it followed straight up from X5 instead of ignoring it, even though X5 should've ended it.
However X6 remains the only game in which you can (without password-hacking, anyway) obtain everything without beating anyone.  It's a lot of fun and it makes replays a blast, not to mention you can stall Nightmare Zero forever with the ol' Shadow Armor/Ultimate Buster combo.  One of the few things X7 did right was introduce New Game Plus, so the mechanic could be preserved without the ingeniously challenging level design (I mean the CORE level design, not the nightmare crap).

Quote
While I disagree on X8 being almost perfect, we can all agree on X7 :P
Even X7 got a few things right.  Not many, but a few.  For one thing it's the only game that made decent use of a Jedi-esque reflect saber.  Z4 tried, but the fact that they virtually eliminated standard projectiles made it worthless.

Neither Rotom nor Phione are Event Pokemon.  You're thinking of Manaphy.  Phione is bred from Manaphy but lacks its signature Tail Glow move, and has far weaker stats.  And Rotom is caught in-game.

3871
Female trainer's cute and all, but she's got nothing on Crystal's.  Oh well...

STILL hoping for my Extremespeed Dragonite... 8D

It's a shame he's useless now that Aura Sphere is available to Mewtwo.
Oh, the fun times we had... 8)  (Hey, Mewtwo damn well deserves it after G/S killed his Special Defense)

Actually, it's very well possible for Tyranitar to survive an Aura Sphere, what with the Sandstream giving him an automatic Special Defense boost.  Of course, even if you do, he'll be hanging on by a thread.  But it does depend on a lot of stuff, and it's not as if there aren't enough Earthquakers out there to finish him off.

If you're gonna call a pokemon useless because it has a counter, pretty much every pokemon ever is useless.

Mewtwo's banned from standard play anyway.
Correction: Every MOVE SET is useless.  There are a fair share of Pokemon that have no counter to all possible sets.

All the more reason to use him!
Damn straight.

I have to find the concept of "standard play" laughable, though.  It's all fan-based opinion, merely popular opinion, and carries its fair share of double-standards.  And Nintendo freaking bans Rotom and Phione, so I'm certainly not looking to them for any consistency.

Zero / Re: A Zero remake..
« on: May 11, 2009, 01:39:59 AM »
Rod knows, he's just talking about the theories from before RZOCW. I'm sure you recall a certain person's claims about X6 Zero being in a copy body made by Light.
I recall.  But Rod does fall behind on the community events now and then, so I wasn't sure.

tell that to omega. and technically Phantom.
Omega was a retcon during the interim between Z4 and ZX when Inticreates realized, oh snap, they left the players hanging with what the heck happened to the remaining Guardians.  Phantom is a last-ditch attack, the explosion itself does no damage.

X / Re: (X5) Getting Gaea Armor's body part with Zero
« on: May 11, 2009, 12:10:47 AM »
You want utterly inhuman, unrealistic timing? In X6, try getting the capsule in Turtloid's stage with Zero. I can do it, but it took me weeks upon weeks of practice to be able to pull it off consistently, and it STILL needs a bit of luck trying to correctly lure the bat near the place.
That's nothing, I can do it in my sleep.

Ensuizan invincibility
laughs at your expense.
That glitch is utter failure.  Ensuizan is too awesome to be denied use for the sake of maintaining invulnerability.  I already established that long-ago due to the fact that it kills your damage barrier.

3874
Zero / Re: A Zero remake..
« on: May 11, 2009, 12:08:52 AM »
X5 is among the worst ways to kill ANY character, much less Zero.  One who has reached playable status should not die a pointless death.   BOSS EXPLOSIONS DO NOT KILL.  In Z4 Zero was sacrificing himself for the planet, and as cheesy as it sounds, it worked damn well.

Well, now to back-track over the old responses while I was away:

And that's what I saw from way back when, when Z3 filled the nonexistant plot-hole of X6's copy body (yeah, because X6 made it utterly obvious it was a "copy" body. Whatever)
Get equipped with MMZOCW, and update your Fanon definitions.

There is, nor was there ever, any copy body in X6.  The copy body originated in Elf Wars, the interim between Zero's two slumbers.  The fact that he konked out twice was written by Inticreates for the full and sole reason of accommodating the Dark Elf.  Despite ever so fun brainstorms about the contrary, nothing in Z3 is relevant to X-series continuity.

I try to just forget that X6 has a tie in to the Zero series.  It never worked.  In Z1 Zero wasn't in a capsule at all and didn't look like his X series self.  Moreover, Omega didn't look like X-series Zero either.  It's one of those on-paper things which sounds really good, but just ends up being confusing.
Once again, get equipped with MMZOCW.

Inticreates deliberately designed "their" Zero trying to be as different from the X-series as they could get away with, simply for the sake of being able to distinguish their series at a glance.

And as for continuity, Zero actually IS hooked up to some manner of obviously broken down equipment.  Which fits with X6 a hell of a lot better than it does X5 leaving him in a forgotten junk heap.  Moot point since Z3 pulled a switcheroo, though.

Absolutely.  I mean, forget about the fix they made to fit X6's ending in there for a minute and just focus on X5 and Z1.  X5 shows Zero mysteriously disappearing and Z1 shows Zero in a mysterious room in a new body.  Zero only has to mysteriously disappear once in this version ... and who knows what happened to him then?  X5 showed him totally destroyed too, so it makes sense that he might look different after his mysterious repairs.
Except that a blown up pile of crap that used to be a Maverick Hunter shouldn't be salvageable after lying in a hole somewhere for a century.  Some manner of maintenance that fell into disrepair is far more plausible.  Furthermore, the art style is not part of continuity.  Never was.

Rockman Series / Re: The way you play Mega Man games
« on: May 10, 2009, 11:48:45 PM »
My style varies with the game, but generally I tend to give high priority to non-weapon support items.  Rush, X's armors, and such.

Also always nice to be flashy.  I generally like to jump in and give all the enemies heck, although I am capable of tip-toeing my way through for no damage (did it in Zero), but that's just not the way I have fun.  Part of why I love X6 so much, you can tank yourself up to ridiculous levels and plow through equally ridiculous mobs in Gate's Lab.
