Anyways; what's the Rabbid's Plunger Gun? I haven't heard of that one.

Source?  To the best of my knowledge that's merely a popular assumption.

And the art/sprite favoring shpiel is only valid in X5 because, here's another one to chalk up to the list of Z-Buster oddities, it was artwork and NOT sprites that changed between X2 and X3.  Despite Zero's body sprites being completely redone, the sprite of the buster itself in X3 is copy/pasted from X2.  However the sprite doesn't really fit either model too well due to the SNES style's general lack of detail.

Incidentally, X5 also shows both the X2 and X3 Z-Buster models in the appropriate flashback images.  So Sensei and co. were definitely aware of the difference.  Whether or not the spriters were is another question.

The X3 intro really isn't the best source material anyway.  X, Zero, and Sigma all change between X1 and X2 forms.  X kinda works since it's an armor-swap (even though an on-the-field swap between different armors has only been demonstrated in Command Mission), and Sigma's could be rationalized as a rapid beam in/out I suppose (he's supposed to have entirely different bodies).  But Zero just shouldn't be doing that, especially since he's going backwards.

Unarmored X is the only character for which the whole hand-folding thing is even remotely feasible.  Pretty much every other character/armor's buster looks nothing like their arm.  And even unarmored X leaves a few issues, which you can see if you examine the X3 intro closely.  It still has to have X's arm shift pretty significantly, since  X's arm doesn't fit the buster in either thickness or wrist shape (X's wrists are not circular; the top side is longer than the bottom).

Quote
And the whole Shining Finger thing in MHX definitely seems to show that X can reroute energy to it. Of course metal is a great conductor anyway, but the point still stands.
While I personally buy that, some people think it was a sort of ki attack (ghetto Hadouken).  Since he's a robot, I'm not sure how much difference that makes.

X aims his normal arm at an enemy.

No, there isn't.  And it was also missing in both Xtremes, despite the first one taking place before X3.

Yet another anomaly with the Z-Buster is the fact that the design changes between X2 and X3.  X5 uses the X2 design in sprites, but the X3 design in artwork.  X6 uses the X3 model consistently (barring Nightmare Zero, being reused X5 sprites).

For the most part I think the developers just don't care, as lacking the Z-Buster seems to be their way of cementing Zero's difference from X.  Which is a shame, because its absence is especially peculiar in Command Mission, when the gang comes under surprise attack at the beginning of the final chapter.  X and Axl are seen returning fire, and Zero is just off-screen doing God knows what.

Before the last time the forum went to the Key Atomic Benefits Office Of Mankind, somebody had a few manga scans (not the whole books, mind you, but a nice selection regardless).  ZXA one was frikkin' hilarious, too.  I didn't keep 'em archived, though, so hopefully somebody else does (Vixyyyy?  :3 ).

I was talking about the differences between Salamence and Dragonite, like I did in the first place.
Discussing the advantages of Outrage over Superpower is not a difference; both Pokemon have Outrage.  That line of discussion remains pointless.

Quote
as well as Salamence having access to two attacks that hit the same types as Superpower as well as others
Brick Break and Rock Smash?  Their power can't compare.  Believe me, I used Brick Break all the time prior to Platinum, and the extra 45 attack strength can make a lot of difference.

Quote
As for White Herb, you honestly think that it's useful? Choice Band is a better choice because when you switch, your attack goes back to normal and Choice Band re-activates. Not to mention it actually makes the first Superpower stronger. White Herb gets used once and it's gone, and it's applied whenever ANY stat drops, so if you get hit by any stat-reducing attack, White Herb goes away.
Choice Band leaves less flexibility given that there's a big "if" on whether or not you get the chance to switch.  It also eliminates the option of using Dragon Dance, as well as switching attack types should the opponent bring in a Fighting-resist, and it leaves Superpower's Defense penalty untouched.  The use when any stat drops is hardly a negative, either, given how many Pokemon depend on Intimidate to scare off physical attackers.

Once again, each has strengths to specific situations, and which is better depends on how you intend to use them, not to mention what your opponent intends to do about it.  Kindly stop trying to pass your personal trends as encompassing the entire game.

I don't even use White Herb, BTW, I was merely presenting it as doing for Superpower what Lum Berry does for Outrage, since you brought it up as if there was no such equivalent.  I prefer to use other items that I feel compliment Dragonite much better, and just take the risk of the Superpower penalty, since it is an auxiliary attack and not a main attack.

No. Emerald is my most cleared game in all the series.
That has to say something... -_-
I had Emerald ALMOST cleared, and left it at that.  The ludicrously high-leveled Victory Road wilds got on my nerves.  Really ought to get back on that sometime, the VR theme is cool after all.

As I recall that was our old trend.  Yoshi beats the rest of your crew, your ROB beats my Yoshi, my Sonic beats your ROB.

I guess you're right, nothing's changed.

I see your ROB is still hell.  I can handle you otherwise, save for item [twin slasher] in that last Sonic vs. Sonic match.

F#$(! it.  PB's taunting be damned, I need to stop leaving the Timed matches go.  Something inevitably goes wrong at the end of every close one, and the game just isn't fun anymore when you know that ten seconds on the timer makes or breaks the score.

If you're still there, what the heck?  Be on in a jiffy.

Heathens. :P

In all seriousness, 3rd gen wasn't bad, per se, just not up to snuff with the other two, IMHO.  The over-use of sluggish water routes was a big part of it (the other being I cannot forgive a Pokemon game that does not feature Dragonite and Mewtwo; hence my purchasing a GBA Action Replay along with my Sapphire Version).

'course, I loved the 3rd gen console games.  Colosseum and Gale of Darkness rocked a lot of socks, the earlier of which had some damn kickass GBA remixes, and easily my favorite player character of all Pokemon games.

Because me actually being honest in saying that I'm rusty didn't clue you in on how badly I'd do? XD
That applies to both of us, though.  Dunno how long out of practice you were, but for me it was about two months, and you were only my second opponent since returning.

3813
I didn't make the rules, don't bite my head off.
Said rules are completely fan-based, and your first sentence contested my post based solely on them.  If your own attitude towards them is indifferent, then you shouldn't have brought them up in the first place.

Quote
The sentence you cutoff pretty much answers your question.
You clearly do not understand my question.  I am not asking what the difference between them is or why one is better than the other.  I am asking what that has to do with the discussion.  Because never, anywhere, did I suggest eliminating Outrage in favor of Superpower, only a fool would do so on a Dragon.  What I said was that it was an excellent choice to round out offensive options in addition to Outrage.  So argument for using Outrage over Superpower are completely irrelevant.

Quote
Superpower is obvious when it'll switch, Outrage isn't thanks to the two berries that solve confusion, Lum and anti-confuse (I can't remember the friggin names aside from Lum and the offense+/Speed+ berry), and never knowing if it actually has it.
White Herb mean anything to you?

BTW, the berry you were thinking of is Persim Berry.  Nobody uses it in the competitive format because for some bizarre reason they apply no limit to duplicate hold items.  Therefore Lum Berry is the only status recovery berry worth using.

To me the Zapper (likeas ALL two-handed gun brackets on the Wii) is utter failure for the simple fact that the trigger is on your forward hand, which should never be the case in any projectile weapon whatsoever, realistic or fantasy.

*hugs his Nyko Perfect Shot*

*cries over his lack of the Rabbid's plunger gun*

Not in the least unusual.  They did the same thing for Grey in ZXA.

The other possibility is that Milan is carrying more than one gun.  The "generic NPC" weapons are always two-handed, after all.  Same applies to Grey and whichever of the two Hunters he robbed.

All the same, though, especially with the power of the 64 on the horizon and compared to the visual clutter of SF2, I can see why they scrapped the project.
I'll gladly accept that if it means SF64 was the result.  Still doesn't mean they couldn't have released it as a "lost gem" later on, for the GBA, DS, or Wii's VC.

I'd be surprised if they weren't, given that they made Zero a copy body.  But the ability to duplicate and the ability to produce on a large scale are two different things.

Zero's Buster Shot (that is, the one Milan was carrying) is supposed to be an older weapon.  Possibly the Z-Saber upgrade to X-Buster mk17 tech included the interface to a handheld weapon not specifically designed for him?  Whatever their current standard was?

That's the best explanation I can come up with.  Although this could easily be dismissed as simple sprite-laziness, Zero's Buster Shot has SOME type of magazine attached to it even before obtaining the Z-Saber, even though it cannot charge until you pick up the Z-Saber.

Ah. I see. So, that's how you handle a Yoshi. Got it.
You know nothing about handling Yoshi if you haven't seen me in action. :P

All in all though, awesome matches today indeed Jelly & Shell.  LoL, good to see Yoshi still knows how to attack!   8D
I told you so.  And if you need further proof, I can send you a 5-minute No Item video of Jelly getting trashed. :P

3819
I guess they needed to fix the fail that tainted the series in those installments as well. *shot* XD
I'm not so sure a remake could fix that...

That's a double team, so that's sort of exempt from being used as any kind of example.
This is why "competitive" battling is complete rubbish.  You don't just ignore half the game and call it standard play.

Outrage at least has STAB and giant power the entire time, and it's only resisted by Steel types. Superpower is resisted by Psychic and Flying types, and Ghosts have no problem stepping into the attack.
Thank you, captain obvious, but it completely ignores the point that Dragonite can have both, so the point of running comparisons is what?  That was never at any point an either-or discussion.

As for Salamence, his relationship with Dragonite is the same as its always been: Salamence has the more favored stat balance for sweeping, and Dragonite has the wider move pool.  Which is better depends on how you intend to use them.  And at the end of the day, they're both strong enough that personal preference is all the reason you need.

Hell yeah!  TEN KO'S!!!  Had a blast Super Dragon roasting the both of ya (flying in lag is hell, though).

Anyway's, Mrs. Shell is home and I've still got food to buy, so I'm calling it a night for now.  Awesome matches.

And PB, I'm still waiting for our Yoshi/Peach Multi-Man.  We'll have to set that up sometime.
