I believe they mean 3D gameplay, not 3D visuals.

X7 may not have been prime material, but that had nothing to do with it being 3D.  Hell, if anything, most of the 3D segments were better constructed than the 2D segments.  I've often said it was the merger that shot Capcom in the foot in that game, as mechanics designed for one "dimension" often don't translate well into the other.

I like the idea of a 3D X, but I like my sidescrolling too.  So that's a damn hard question.

Zero being a carrier was the sole reason Sigma survived for X6, so I must admit that one had me raising an eyebrow.  On the other hand there is an off chance his body saw some modification during the X6 revival.  Hard to say since so much was going on behind-the-scenes in that one.

I'm still inclined to believe the whole "Sigma fighting you with his viral energy" shpiel.  He's no stranger to taking losses against X and Zero, and is largely indifferent to it as can be seen in X2, X4, X6, and X7.  In X8 there was a major shift in his attitude, him having the audacity to refer to X and co. as "powerless".  For somebody who "died" with a laugh for half the series, that's pretty odd.

Recall what we know about the Sigma Virus and its derivatives from X2, X3, X5, and X8.  Ordinarily it requires a vaccine to fight, but when it's power output in the substance world goes high enough, it becomes vulnerable to normal weaponry (as in X2, and also see the Nightmare Virus).  If Sigma focused his power for a hail-Mary, he'd have left the virus vulnerable as a result.  Isolation only further shoots him in the foot, as it leaves no escape.

No.

Tracked down a similar story, don't know if it's the same person or not.  Includes the old dead-relatives visions, as well, but a false memory of that wouldn't be any far stretch.  Surgical details are the key point of the discussion, as they prove some level of awareness during a "brain dead" condition.

Mind you, I am not suggesting this as evidence of the afterlife as many others jump to.  That one doesn't know of a physiological reason for something doesn't mean that reason doesn't exist.  It simply means we have more to learn, and I am only presenting this to prove the point that the functions of human consciousness are not the open book that Speed stated they are.

Zero / Re: About Omega

I believe his point is that the Zero series allows serious overkill as the player against bosses.

However, one has to bear in mind that Inti, for reasons beyond my comprehension, gauges their challenge level to default health gauges, which are about a quarter of what the Zero series actually allows outside of Hard Mode.  I find that perhaps their single most annoying habit.

I'd honestly just presumed the water slowdown to be the way it was supposed to be.  *shrugs*  Nino Island ruins are still hell regardless of lag, seeings how you're forced to backtrack the whole damn way.  They couldn't just cutscene/hidden elevator your way between the key and Claymoore...

Rockman Series / Re: So... What Now?

You know sometimes I was thinking that the secret ending of ZXA is simply just a hint for RM9. (Reset = going back to 8-bit, Thomas as the bad guy...) It's an open one though. They might come up with something to continue the story from there. Or I'm wrong. That it's all coincidental & that they already have a concrete story for the ZX Saga to begin with.
Artificial being, human body, immortal.  It's a Legends reference.  Inti shies away from direct tie-ins but does make an effort for their games to fit comfortably with Legends.

One of few reasons on why I'm still have a hope for ZX3 is that ZX games has not yet fully utilize the touchscreen capability. I believe that 2D platform sidescrolling & touchscreen can coexist with harmony if done right.
Star Force can have the touch-screen.  I think ZX has a lot of untapped potential even within the confines of traditional platforming.  In many ways Advent, awesome as it was, was more of a tangent than a sequel.

The sad truth is it still about money. RM9 is a win/win situation. While ZX3, X9 & DASH 3 (most specially) are risky.
Solution: Port the Five Island Adventure to home console download services already!  I would kill to see that on WiiWare.

Lack of kickass boss music = failure.  I agree with Fxeni, half the game's awesomeness is at stake right there.  If they don't step it up prior to release, I'll be happy to stick with the SNES.

X / Re: What did Lumine mean?
« on: July 15, 2009, 02:57:10 AM »
The reasoning behind Sigma being gone isn't really explained, although that aspect of the story was announced well prior to the game's release.  Based on preview trailers and Zero's ending, Lumine seemed certain that Sigma wouldn't return, but apparently that part of his speech was lost in translation.

Speculation is that Sigma dumped all of his viral energies into his final body, achieving a significant power boost over previous forms.  Other speculation is that the moon, being an isolated environment, with Sigma's only followers being viral-immune, left Sigma with nowhere for his consciousness to escape to.

Lumine's status is unknown.  If he survived at all it would most likely be through his attack on Axl.  But we don't know what happens to Axl after X8, only that he at some point recovers (and X doesn't believe his damage to be fatal anyway), since he is in Command Mission.

Remembering the doctors entering one of the body's main blood vessels through her groin, a detail of the surgery which she was previously unaware of?  No.

Old Reader's Digest story, unfortunately I cannot track it down at the moment.  You could take it as a soul or you could take it as consciousness (or memory, at least) being spread throughout the entire body.  Doesn't matter much, it simply demonstrates how naive it is to think that the human body, much less mind, is entirely understood.  Science finds new curve-balls all the time (if it didn't, the world would be pretty boring, wouldn't you say?).

Also,
I am not trying to say that to religious people.
I realize one cannot discuss religion on the internet, but for strictly informational purposes:  You do not need to be non-religious, or even non-Christian, to believe that.  Some groups do not consider a soul to be separate from a life; they merely believe in eventual resurrection.  You do not need to be an atheist to believe that you lose all awareness when your body shuts down.

Sort of relevant.

Laughed my ass off. 8)

You can see it most in the armor Kits. they are translucent. I never understood X6's paintjob. It looks weird. especially with the light blue upper limbs...
I like X6's coloring, but I understand some adjustment being needed.  In all honesty it probably would have fitted better with the older upper limbs, but X6 decided to brighten them for some reason.

I honestly just want to see the All-Stars Bowser themes get some remembrance.  That was just an awesome addition, and with the NES nostalgia that's all the rage these days, it's too easily forgotten (didn't even include it in the SMA3's 1-4 remake, the jerks).

3738
You know, we NEED a Bowser battle theme for Bitchslap.  But there's just too damn many of them, so I figure that makes prime medley material.  The list would include:

-All-Stars, Fake Bowser
-All-Stars, Real Bowser
-SMB3 Bowser
-SMW Bowser
-SM64 Bowser

Oh yeah, and one other thing.  We should have a few tunes from DDR: Mario Mix.  I think "
Where's The Exit?
" and "
Bowser's Castle
" would be awesome.

In Z3 the existence of cyberspace puts forth the notion that all things in the world are in some manner represented as data.  If Cyberspace includes all natural aspects of the world, why should Cyberspace not include natural souls?

The "soul vs. digital copy" debate has already gone on for ages with regard to the Light capsules.  And the reality is it's just pointless nitpicking.  No reason has been put forth to believe that the same character in-the-flesh would behave differently, so the debate is moot.  Any storywriter could write either scenario, but thus far they have never been established as independent of the human characters whose likeness they share.  For the purpose of the story, they are the same.

Sorry to break your dreams. Humans are just biological forms that have their own consciousness and personalities which only exists through brain. So, if a human dies, that human is erased from universe "completely". I am not trying to say that to religious people. I'm just pointing out scientific facts on the idea of soul.
Besides the fact that you're guessing, out-of-body experiences during operations that induce "clinical death" (drain your body of blood for about half an hour) contradict that assumption.  The brain does not function during such procedures and thus cannot hallucinate.  In this instance it appears that consciousness extends beyond a single organ, whether you want to take that physically or spiritually is irrelevant.  The fact is science does not fully understand human consciousness.

Altho the Ultimate Armor in X6 got a nice paint job, it looked a little beat up when the big square thingies poped up at start of every level, you know...the "close ups".
If the surface looks uneven it's because the UA is supposed to have a slightly translucent look to it.  You can see this in the X5 Power-Up Parts menu as well.

3741
I would like this, but it'd probably have to go in some kind of Medley, cause really the theme doesn't really go anywhere really.
So make a new stage.  Maybe the Tower of Hera.

EDITS: Apparently I was lacking sleep when I wrote this.

Yeah, that'd probably be the best bet.  I always loved how the mixed the SMW Castle/SMB3 Boss music into one track.  It was so damn good.
Oh yeah, hot damn I loved that theme.

......the fact that I left the SMB3 boss as a solo tune is how you know I was tired when I made that list. o-O

i'm disappointed in you Shelly for only listing theme songs. there's already a surplus of them in Brawl. we need more stage songs. we need more retro songs, remixed or not.
Hey, it's a work-in-progress.

-Final Boss (STH3)
-Flying Battery (S&K)
-Lava Reef (S&K)
-Blue Storm (Secret Rings)

Happy?

And oh yeah, another theme:

-Sonic Speed Riders

 :P

- SR388- Metroid II: Return of Samus
Oh snap, how'd I forget that one?!

A high-quality version of the Chozodia theme (which is in itself another Brinstar remix; hey, we can't have enough) would also be extraordinarily rocking.

X / Re: How exactly was Wily brought back by the virus?
« on: July 13, 2009, 04:07:47 AM »
More like the virus is what activated, or "revived" if you will, his consciousness in the first place.  What I'm suggesting is that the W was that moment, when Wily returned, not that he was part of Zero during the whole slumber/robot bloodbath shpiel.  He'd have emerged within Zero due to him being the primary host of the virus, until Sigma KOed him anyway.  From there he'd have made the jump to Sigma, then to an independent body/computer/whatever.

Again, gross speculation.  But you have to wonder...

X / Re: Armors and Weapons
« on: July 13, 2009, 04:06:34 AM »
Fair enough.  But the color-scheme of the mid-joints, if changed from normal, are as valid a part of the "armor" color scheme as any other.  Such is the case in X5.  X goes from normal unarmored scheme to complete X4 armor color, paler blue, purple arms/legs, the whole sheebang.  If Cyber didn't notice that, he's not paying attention and/or it's been entirely too long since he played that battle.

3744
X / Re: Armors and Weapons
« on: July 13, 2009, 04:01:45 AM »
That......is true, but completely irrelevant.

The arms and legs are X's regular green/blue, like with all his armors, and the armor itself is a brighter more "X" blue. the crystal is alos green whereas it was more of a sky blue before

X4 just directly reused X4's Ultimate Armor. complete with weapons and charge effect. >.>;

A nice observation, but that's not what I mean.  You're speaking of the "armor add-ons" alone.  I'm talking about X as a whole.  Purple mid-joints and everything.  It's particularly noticeable, and it too is part of X's appearance when he uses the UA against Zero.

X / Re: What did Lumine mean?
« on: July 13, 2009, 03:59:33 AM »
Not really.  The virus corrupts Reploids and makes them easy to control, though at times drives them nuts so it's not always the best option for stealthy operations.  The shpiel with Sigma's DNA and the New Gens basically makes them Sigma's equals.  They are not under his control, hence Lumine plotting against him, but they do share the same ideals of a "new world," which Reploids under infection tend to not blabber about.

3746
PB, I can say only this:

The only thing is, the clown ball is very Lemmy-specific.  What about having them withdraw into their shells for recovery?  They could cause shockwaves that stun the enemy when they hit the ground, and allow them to bounce up to three times consecutively before having to land normally.

Oh yeah, and their theme song must be the Boom Boom music. 8)

Speaking of which, here's the music list that I've compiled thus far for my Bitchslap (not including whatever was already in Brawl):

Well, most of this is getting into differing interpretation, not much left to argue with/comment on.  But here it goes.

I don't really follow. X's potential for misguidedness was always a factor, and acknowledged by Light from the get-go. Not really fair to call X or what would become Copy-X genocidal though, unlike Sigma and the humans, Copy X never planned to destroy all reploids. Humans need reploids. He just saw no problem with sacrificing the more expendable ones so that humans could maintain maximum comfort. Still murderous, still racist, but not genocidal.
Pardon the vocab slip-up.  Racial mass-murder, but with the privelaged few remaining cozy.

My point is that such links in evil potential do not constitute a concrete link in terms of character relation.  Said potential is of course all that Sigma sees in Zero, as he never lived to see Omega.  Sigma is interested in ushering in a new world, and he sees in Zero a hidden power which he believes can be used to that end.  That does not mean that Zero himself, Awakened or no, is interested in such things.  And never over the course of the X-series did he show such an interest.

Seeing as how the questions were asked and answered from within Inti, I think it clear they wanted to bring up the point and were quick to express the possibility of it. I see it in much the same vein as Inafune's "maybe, maybe not" discussion of Sagesse in R20. They want fans to see the potential connections, but they don't want to tell you straight out. And for that matter, it's license for fans to go willy nilly as they like. They are gluttons for such evil.
I don't consider, "maybe, maybe not" answers to be intended to encourage either view point.  I consider them a general reluctance by any story writer to write themselves into an unnecessary corner.  It preserves flexibility for future projects.

In a way, the whole "did Sigma rebel of his own will" discussion is the perfect case-in-point.  Some sources left ambiguity, some didn't.  All can fit with X8, but those that left some uncertainty have an easier time doing so.

To further the point we have had lots, and lots of experience with Inticreates' concepts not matching their final results.  A lot of that went down in MMZOCW.  X going villainous, the Three Keys, what the Guardians were doing during Z4.  So even if they did at some point consider a link, it would still say very little as to the finalized events.

Any connection to Gate is only important if Isoc wants something from him, or wants to help him. If what Isoc wanted was solely to get his hands on Zero and kickstart the next round of Light bot vs Wily bot, then Gate just became useless.
Can that decision be made on the battlefield, though?  Is it acceptable to risk missing something in the moment?  Isoc isn't in any hurry, as long as he knows Zero is kicking, and High Max is no threat to him, he's willing to wait.  He claims to be capable of capturing Zero whenever he wants.  He could be curious as to what all Gate has accomplished, not only with Zero but also with Sigma, if by chance he is still carrying a grudge.  Is he certain whether or not other Hunters can interfere if he moves for a capture now?  There are tons of reasons such a decision needs to be made with a cool head.

There's no telling what Isoc's doing behind the scenes, and therefore no telling how ready he is.  He does, eventually, abandon his position with Gate, so it's hard to read too much into when.  Especially when the precise timing isn't known; never do we see Isoc active after that battle.  There's no telling when his body collapsed.

X / Re: Armors and Weapons

So I assume that X also had that thought in mind. His weapons from X4 were still attached to the Ultimate Armor, and- wait, that makes me think of another thought. Ultimate armor was not Canon until X5 X vs Zero. in X5 it was also a secret. What if X found the Capsule and  knew very well that using his old X4 weapons with it would soup them up? Though that also begs the question of why He did not use the Nova Strike. Though that can also be because of X being hesitant to go full force against his best friend.
However, the X4 and X5 Ultimate Armors have different color schemes.  The X vs. Zero fight uses the X4 color scheme.  And as I mentioned earlier it also uses the X4 charge effect, bizarre as that it.

Another pointless visual nitpick, IIRC there is no green trail on his buster shot.

X / Re: How exactly was Wily brought back by the virus?
« on: July 12, 2009, 10:13:00 PM »
Gross speculation here, but I'm seriously wondering if Wily's virus revival had anything to do with the W appearing on his head in the X4 flashback.  Zero's seen headaches (X4 dreams), restraints (X6, Isoc), and awakening (X5, drop the colony), and none have repeated that effect.  Zero could be freaking out over another consciousness showing up in his head, and/or the virus may have jumped ship from him because Wily wanted out.

Well, there was that part where Axl thought Marino had the hots for him.  Turns out she was contemplating stealing his Copy Chip...

So far as visuals go, I think that XCM, even if not revolutionary, was the definite best-looking 3D MegaMan game.
