Hey, I needed some reason to use him.  :P  Mewtwo got booted from my Doubles team due to being really a stand-alone Pokemon.  Definitely want him when I decide to make a proper Singles team, but I may want to adjust attacks and EVs a bit.

Sure, I can fight Singles.  I PREFER Doubles, but I'll go either way.

Got your PM.  My FC is 4983-1423-7644.  Ready and waiting.

Well, we both had some "not paying attention" moments there.  Good match, though.

You're on.

I'm not sure that I have your Friend Code, though.  Didn't see it in the Wifi thread.

X / Re: Robot Prejudice: Has this been explored in the X series?
« on: November 01, 2009, 05:49:03 PM »
The way I see Epsilon is more an extremist. Not a maverick, but an extremist. After all, he made sure to not harm civilians in Giga city, only his attackers, and We can assume tht the humans were banished without harm, since the sole reason X was sent was because of the rebellion itself, the idea... Nothing of Mavericks was really mentioned... Plus, the fact that they were simply "banished" as opposed to outright tossed off or killed says something. X himself did not seem to think Epsilon was maverick, (or entirely one) as when he talks to Redips, stating that at least epsilon understood the risks of his actions, "at least he wasnt  maverick from the start". Plus his Maverick Status was deferred due to Redips.
Well, this is why I said "borderline".  It is true that Epsilon is a lot less aggressive than your regular Maverick.  But at his core there is still the dismissal of humans and the obsession with Reploid evolution, regardless of risk, or for that matter, the will of those affected.

Even if Epsilon himself tried to keep it clean compared to the likes of, say, Lumine, the core philosophy still attracts a lot of scum.  Once you have labeled a group as inferior and/or irrelevant, disposing of them as opposed to herding them is only a small leap.  It's a leap that Epsilon himself didn't want to make, but can we say the same of his henchman?  Whatever code of honor he held pretty much ends once you get past Ferham and Scarface.  And it's not as if there was not aggressive action taken within Giga City; Lagrano was destroyed and Jango attempted to blow up the Central Tower.  If you spread that same influence that's affecting his henchmen across the world, it's pretty much asking for hell.  I think that started to dawn on Ferham when she decided to abandon the "ideal" and destroy the remaining Supra Force Metal rather than risk it being abused by someone like Redips again.

All of this demonstrates why Epsilon was still dangerous.  Where you draw the line in defining "Maverick" is beside the point after that.  Whether or not he himself will attack humanity, his idea of evolution still encourages it, and he was utterly determined to force it upon the rest of the world.

"Deferred" doesn't mean he wasn't Maverick.  It means the people who have to make that call were not confident enough to pass judgment either way.  Hence, borderline.  Redips was effectively the scapegoat that allowed them to dodge the issue.  In reality he was not responsible for Rebellion, but he was the biggest threat in the end, so blaming it all on him was the easy way out.

X / Re: Robot Prejudice: Has this been explored in the X series?
« on: November 01, 2009, 05:31:12 AM »
I don't even remember if there were humans in the X series, except for Cain.
There weren't.  But the thing is, Zero-series is all about human prejudice against Reploids, and yet the only human featured on-screen before Z4 was on the Reploids' side.  They general public does not have to be physically present for their views to be expressed through the plot.

Repliforce and Rebellion both claimed to be victims of human prejudice, that is the tendency to call one Maverick without just cause.  On the other hand Rebellion WAS trying to launch a radioactive nuke on the world to further "evolution" knowing full well the risks of Maverick behavior that Force Metal carried.  The racist attitude seemed to be returned as Epsilon banished humans from Giga City, also.  If he wasn't Maverick, he was certainly borderline.

Repliforce is perhaps the most valid scenario for being victims of prejudice during the X-series, although their own attitude didn't help matters.  Lack of diplomacy being their own failing, the fact that they responded to accusations with threats, aggression, and building massive weapons, is what lead to their downfall.  Even though the accusations were unfounded, Repliforce's response could easily have been seen as justifying them.  Whereas Ciel's Resistance organized merely to defend themselves (and are barely able to at that), Repliforce effectively held the planet at gunpoint.

I love the animation for it, but the damage is pretty horrible.  Not even Buster Plus can fix that one.
True, but it makes it all the more sweet when you kick X's ass using that alone. >U<

Other than that I pretty much just use it as an anti-Taxi weapon.  Funny, though, Shot Eraser/Black Zero effects apply to the Z-Buster the same as they do the saber, so you can cut through X's shots with that little pea-shooter.

Inversely, X can destroy Zero's shots with Gaea Armor.  But you're REALLY asking for trouble if you try that against Awakened Zero, since his shot delay is determined by when the previous shot pauses and not by timer, thus destroying them outright will cause him to launch the saber wave instantly.

Hyper Dash translates to dash-jumps pretty well, particularly when fighting enemies like the Nightmare Mother where precise jumping is needed (especially in Extreme mode).  Speedster is better when you need to clear pits, like the one in Metal Shark Player's stage, for instance.
It depends on your method.  For maximum dash-jump distance, you want Hyper Dash and Jumper; Speedster is irrelevant.  Speedster aids in those who prefer air-dashing for whatever reason (which I suppose is valid if you're Mach Dashing or Nova Striking your way through, although the latter pretty much gets you where you need to go by itself), and in weapon-physics-exploiting.

Meh, I just went unarmored due to obsession with the Z-Buster.  Quite a love-hate relationship, though, seeings how X5's was rather crappy.

Thing is, at least it's unique.  4th Armor does absolutely nothing that Ultimate doesn't.  So, yeah...

The dash length in itself is not increased, but Speedster's overall increase in horizontal movement increases the distance that you cover.
So what you're actually gaining is jumping/falling distance?  Well, that's not what I was talking about, but thank you.

Finally got un-lazy enough to test for myself, and yes, Hyper Dash does in fact slightly shorten your air-dash length.  But it looks worse than it is, due to the sharp difference in movement speed; in truth PS1 air-dashing as a whole blows anyway (and yes the same all applies to X6's Falcon; I was wondering if it might be exempt due to appearing to be X5's flight in a fixed direction/length, but not so).

However, I did take notice, in the same manner that Hyper Dash increases your dash length when combined with Zero's F-Splasher in X5, it does the same for Blade Armor's Mach Dash in X6.  You can catch some serious air that way.

Oh yes, and I confirmed for myself that contrary to what many have said (this comes up in many an X6 discussion), Speedster does not enhance dash-jumping.  As expected, if your dash speed is applied, it overrides Speedster; that's as true in the air as it is on the ground, with or without Hyper Dash.

Canada rocks.  It gave us a better view of The Falls, the best non-chocolate candy on the face of the Earth, and Colin Mochrie.  Plus five bucks American gets you a long way there.

I think it's the late night surfing getting the better of me, but it sounded like he was saying that substance over style didn't apply to that game.
My apologies, I read "the actual presence of the game" as being simply whether or not it exists.  I gather you actually meant the quality of its content?  Miscommunication there.

Anyways my mention of YIDS was saying that a sequel for the sake of a sequel, without considering how, isn't always that bright an idea, no matter how good of a base you're working off of.  YIDS adhered a bit too strictly to an old style, and the result was a good game that mostly failed to differentiate itself from a far superior game.

ZX / Re: Who exactly created the Biometals?
« on: October 31, 2009, 02:54:42 PM »
It occurred to me that I forgot Model a in my last list, not that it means much.  Nevertheless, for completion's sake, I added it.

Oh, for some reason I had thought that X & Zero were dead dead, like Mega Man dead.
I don't see how anyone who's actually played ZX gathers that, yet apparently many do.  Their only basis of this is Ciel's statement as to "the data I have obtained on ancient heroes", and since when is a Reploid soul not considered data?  I believe that was established in Xtreme2 some 450+ years ago, not to mention the fact that floating program life objects were everywhere in the Zero series.

Even if you completely ignore the use of the word "consciousness" by Prairie, there's no getting around the fact that Model H refers to the battle to protect humans hundreds of years ago as their own actions and not those of some ambiguous legendary heroes.  So that is two in-game accounts which establish the Biometals as actually being the souls of the legendary heroes which they represent.

I dunno, I think Fox himself had a cool voice in Brawl.  Didn't mind Wolf either.  Falco, on the other hand, most definitely makes me miss the N64.  As did pretty much every recurring character in Adventures.

Melee's flight snippits I tried to dismiss as a joke not meriting tracking down the old cast.

Due to lack of momentum, yeah, shorter time usually overrides any movement speed benefit.  However it worked great in combination with Zero's F-Splasher.

Choice of words aside, what I meant was which part affects X6 Falcon's air-dash.  For better or for worse is another story.

My money's on Sato's prediction.

fix'd
I resent that.  I have gi-hugic hands and I'm fine holding all three current models of DS.

The only thing I missed going from phat-to-i (Lite was for Mrs. Shell; I hated it anyway due to crappy buttons and power slider on the side) was the GBA slot and the more accessible Start/Select locations.

I just realized that I had Speedster on when making that comparison.
So, wait, X6 Falcon's air-dash is still Speedster enhanced and not Hyper Dash enhanced?  It never occurred to me to test that.

At least there's not iLL exclusive games.
...so far.
There will be none.  The LL/XL is feature-wise identical to the regular DSi.  Same screen resolution, too.  The only difference is size, a fatty second stylus, better battery life, and some DSiWare pack-ins.

Killing Slippy?  Where's the fun in that?  I prefer to blow the [parasitic bomb] out of him under the premise of "rescuing" him.

Titania was so awesome that way.

Boy your dexterity must be bad. Play some Guitar Hero.
You couldn't be more wrong.  Using a shoulder button to attack just doesn't feel natural to me; that's a matter of habit, not of skill.

And you're not one to speak of dexterity when you know nothing of the dash-claw. :P

I guess they just figured they can't start you off with something too awesome.  X5 starting you with Plasma Charge was really overkill (not to mention it destroyed any non-Giga appeal to Ultimate; they REALLY should have used Stock Charge instead).

And yes, Falcon's charged shot in X6 is still slightly more powerful than unarmored's.

In X5, Falcon + Speedster = perfection.  Plain and simple.

ZX / Re: Who exactly created the Biometals?

yet you cant get it until after the game. Light gives X the Ultimate Armor in X4, but that doesnt mean it is canonical to the actual events of X4.
Minor correction there.  You cannot use Model OX until after the game.  You can, however, obtain Model O as soon as you have access to Area N.  It just doesn't do anything until Fleuve examines it, which he refuses to until you're on a Clear file.

yeah, but in X5 it was actually a story element as X uses it against Zero. in X4 its only obtainable by cheat code.
However messing with that is the fact that the Ultimate Armor which X is using against Zero is very clearly the X4 design and not the X5 design.

X4's code doesn't directly unlock the UA but rather unlocks the scenario in which Light gives it to X.  Such an alternate seems valid, and the mention that "this armor is not completed yet and your safety is not assured" at the same time gives X a reason to be hesitant to use it, not that he wouldn't be regardless as X isn't the type to wield overwhelming power without caution.

As for X6, if not for adding a third color scheme I'd have said that it was most likely supposed to be a "what if" scenario as to whether or not X had been using it in X5.  Maybe that is it and X just decided during the last three weeks that black would look cool.  >.>

As expected an old-eyes DSi, nothing more nothing less.  I'm happy with the smoother fit into my pocket, seeings how the DSi is in and of itself a larger screen size than the original/Lite.  But if you think 256x192 merits a 4-inch screen size, more power to you.

It's not just the reception. Miyamoto has had second guessing problems with Star Fox forever. He didn't release Star Fox 2 because he didn't like it, & what they had finished was rad.
I thought it was to keep from stealing the imminent N64's thunder?

Eh, whatever.  Still a stupid move.

ZX / Re: Who exactly created the Biometals?

I don't see what there is to be confused about.

Model W - Albert
Model A - Albert
Model X - Ciel
Model Z - Ciel
Model H - Ciel
Model L - Ciel
Model F - Ciel
Model P - Ciel
Model O - Unknown; canonically questionable
Model a - Unknown; canonically questionable; actual fragment may not exist as it is an A-Trans form

Albert did not create anything from Serpent's core, he is the one who originally created Model W using what was left of Ragnarok.  In other words, Albert is the original creator of Biometal, and of the R.O.C.K. System, which Model W uses the same as the other models.  And he made Serpent's core the same as he made all the other cores.

The R.O.C.K. System works only with the Chosen Ones: those people which Albert has marked using his DNA.  Ciel created her Biometals in order to counter Model W using her research on it, but she did not understand Model W fully, and thus that same restriction from Model W was carried over into her own Biometals.  Those who can use Ciel's Biometal are the same as those who can use Model W: Chosen Ones selected by Albert (with the exception of Ashe).
