Your code's in and I'm online waiting for a trade.

Also with bug catching, if you weaken that pokemon too low it'll subtract from your points, the collective stats + remaining health = total points.
Among some other things, that's why just catching level 14 Scyther can't help ya, if you weakened 'em to a near fraction of their health.
That really, REALLY bites.  The more powerful Pokemon have such a low capture rate that you're probably better off barely scratching the Level 18 Weedles and what-have-you and capturing them.

Serebii says it too, though since I've never won one I can't say if it's true.  Though it could be only after you get the national dex.
Thanks and if you can get a Thunder stone that be great too.
Now you're just being greedy.  =P

Kidding, kidding.  Besides, I have a lot more Thunder than Fire anyway.  So, since we're both on now, want to grab your DS and register my Diamond code?  I'll be online.

you can say that they didn't make any thing that has been outright TRIFLING in scope, much less anything that could be described as "not worthy of being another number attached to an established series".
I'd honestly debate that with 9, given the "fake difficulty" issues, among other things.  I like 9, mind you, but I find it "so-so", and not really able to stand up to the other entries in the franchise, either before or after (10 was a surprisingly stronger effort.

Even so, that was one time.

I dunno if, for legendaries, I should go with naming them after what they're based on (which would mean, if the end, I'd have 4 Golems) or if I should just go with my name by type theme.
Even though I don't often do the nickname thing, I don't see the point of nicknaming most legendaries, since most (not all) of them are allegedly one of a kind according to the story.

Then again, I do constantly fight the urge to give my Dialga the nickname Titanus.

I don't know, I've won that thing with a level 13 Pinsir, and a level 18 Weedle.
I have no idea how it determines if you're the best catch, I just luck out.

But I've gotten nothing but Sun Stones when I need a god damn Water Stone.
I had a Level 14 Scyther and lost. O:<

Hey would anyone be willing to trade me a pokemon holding a fire stone, I need it for my Vulpix and since I won't get my DSi until next Sunday I'm a bit stuck.
I'm not sure when I'll next be online since Mrs. Shell expects me to be painting most of the day Sunday.  But I'll gladly trade you one off of my Diamond cart.

The Rock getting an upgrade doesn't screw me as much as Fighting getting an upgrade.  Granted, I'm happy that all types of useful now, but sadly now that Fighting moves are actually pretty stellar, two of my favorites, Snorlax & Tyrantitar, are nowhere near as dangerous anymore.  ESPECIALLY Tyrantitar!
As I remember very well.  Tyranitar is considered a Special Wall these days thanks to the Sandstorm boost, and yet he's still fallen to many a Mewtwo assault by yours truly. 8)

SMB was funny because SMBDX had SMB1 and SMB2j and some multiplayer racing stuff. And it was a GBC game, so you could get it cheap.
SMB I could understand for reasons of screensize, since some people prefer squishing to a cutoff, and you obviously have a lot more horizontal room (and besides, the Deluxe SMB2j isn't the "real" one in that it uses the SMB1 tiles and lacks the hidden levels).

Then again, it's nice to have Luigi with his own fire colors (although that is EASILY hacked into the original SMB2j, 1 is another story).

Good thing I'm getting mine next week, considering how there's only one person I know in my school that has Heart Gold. X(  Seriously why is everyone getting Soul Silver!
Between Lugia, Ninetales, and Skarmory, you really need to ask that?

Heh, well a lot has definitely changed since the original Silver days.  Previously worthless types now have somewhat more of a purpose.  I'd still love them to make a Flying move called Hurricane!  XD
That WOULD be awesome.

Yeah, most every type has some offensive viability now, which is not the way it used to be.  Generally I like that, but it REALLY sucks defensively to be an Ice type right now, seeings how Rock and Fighting are everywhere.  You can't use Lapras as a typical bulky water anymore for that reason.

True that though I'll always love Nintales more than Archcanine.
I think most of the community loves Ninetales more than Arcanine.  Arcanine has the stronger base stats but it lacks versatility.

He doesn't lose half his health to a single entry hazard, either (which the tourneyfag metagame practically revolves around).

Which is a shame, because even though I like Lugia better design-wise, I like Ho-oh better gameplay-wise.  I'd rather roast things than wall them.  And now that Ho-oh learns Brave Bird, Lugia's Aeroblast loses its previous "good Flying moves are impossible to find" appeal.

I just got a program to print the dot codes on photo paper.  Reads in an actual e-Reader.

As far as I am aware there are a total of 37 e-Reader levels.  30 Mushroom, 2 Promotional, and 5 Star (SMB1 stages).

Never did test to figure out what all those freaking extra switch cards do, though.

And SMB 1-4 fails for lack of All-Stars Bowser music. O:<

5 Soul Silvers and no Heart Golds yet.  I guess a lot of people like Lugia more than Ho-oh.

(note to Nintendo: Stealth Rock sucks)

I think it's entirely possible to die in easy mode, but only by getting too cocky and falling into the sole unaltered trap. Which is why by default, you should just take some beat items and spike guards with you. I mean, got to use those screws for something, right?
This is the most shameful objection I have ever had to make, but that is not true.  Sheep Man's stage on Easy Mode actually found a way to kill me that Normal Mode never could have.

Ordinarily, when jumping under disappearing blocks, a jump that peaks next to an existing block is safe from another block appearing right above your head and dropping you into the abyss.  Not so on Easy Mode's block bridges.

So many  [objection!] pics in one place, but where's the Eureka's at?   8D
As awesome as Eureka! is, it doesn't go with the pointy finger pose very well.

What we need is somebody crazy/bored enough to edit Edgeworth's "finger to the forehead grin" pose.

Prime Hunters has the core formula of a Metroid game but is unusually repetitive.  Between that and the lack of lock-on, it really feels more like a regular FPS and less like a "First Person Adventure".

That said, best Samus to me is the old NES replay/Justin Bailey code.  Suitless, but still with arm cannon.  A shame Zero Mission chose not to revisit that, even if Chozodia was all kinds of awesome.

Normally I want a Bellsprout...but I wanted something different, so I thought "I'll go with Oddish!" but I caught a Paras instead and thought "Never raised one of them, I wonder what it's like..."
I haven't regretted it yet. :V
A 100% accurate sleep inducer is never a bad thing, especially for captures.  The fact that it now gets a water immunity/recovery (Effect Spore is worthless if you're going to Spore on the first turn anyway) just makes it more awesome.

I actually booted Geodude for Paras since I realized my starter was the only one who could Cut.  That and got the Spikey-eared Pichu right away to replace my colored one.  Better attack IVs, and since it's hard-coded to never evolve, lets me use a Hold item.  Seems to always be Naughty nature.

I wonder, if you send a busted Wii to Nintendo, if they can salvage your Wifi connection settings?

Well, I'll cross 'em out for now.

Soul Silver Friend code:
2622-4815-6072 (Jase)

Anyone mind too much if I add them to my friend roster?
Not in the least.  I'll register you on my SS cart.

2618
It must be there so that the Poke-walker can detect it due to the cart's special innings, since normal wireless doesn't seem to cut it for the poke-walkers own wireless connection.
Pokewalker works via infrared link in the cartridge (so it works with a DSi even if you left communications off), which is why the cartridge casing is translucent black.  Needs line of sight to work.  Basically, it's the same thing as on the GBC, 'cept in the cart instead of on the system.

Indeed, unrestricted trades from the get-go are awesome.  I'm holding out on Dratini so as to not spoil myself for the Extremespeed version, but in the meantime, laying the smackdown throughout Johto with Trapinch and Jirachi is pretty cool.  Plus I needn't wait to travel with a Dragonite in my Pokewalker. 8)

Got SoulSilver, and in keeping with my obscure trainer dragon references, named my character Dulcy.  Rival is Malcom (as in kicking his Gigabutt).  Current team is Cyndaquil, Wooper, Trapinch, Geodude, Jirachi, and Pichu.

And I gotta say that I *LOVE* the ability to make notes on the map.  Even if you're restricted to that funky word selection, it still makes it lightyears easier to remember points of interest.

Positively addicted to Ace Attorney Investigations' music.

These two tracks are absolutely divine:

If I'm reading this correctly, if MM9 had just slightly altered the sound, instruments, or tempo a little bit, you'd have no problem with the Boss Intro or Victory themes?
Isn't that what 10, to say nothing of all your links, did?  You're jumping around a bit by defending the rehashes in a rehash-vs-remix discussion, and then as evidence, linking remixes.  It's no wonder I lost you.

There are definite long-running MegaMan themes included in 2 besides the title screen, and yeah, boss intro and victory are obvious.  But the direct port from 2 is what bothers me, yes.  In their original form, 2 is actually pretty bad when it comes to the short jingles.  As you've adequately shown even the NES MegaMan games had already spruced up the victory tune better than that.  And, as I said, you can't even use the "original" logic, because that doesn't apply to 2's boss intro.

That being said, my "lack of nostalgia" remark was directed mainly at the weapon drum.  And that's really a whole other beast than the rest of this discussion, because IMHO a 4 second beat consisting entirely of 2 notes on a single instrument does not make adequate game BGM.  Ever.  It's like they took one instrument from the credits theme and dragged it kicking and screaming into its own room.  I don't know what they were thinking reusing it in 9.  And I don't know what they were thinking using a better drum to do the exact same thing in Z2's versus mode.  The MM2 weapon "theme" (I use that term loosely) is not to me a matter of whether it is preferable to copy/paste or to remix, it is a matter of simply needing to forget it and move on.

Okay, I'm kinda lost that you'd think that MM2's Boss Intro & Victory theme are among MM2's "weakest musical moments" for a few reasons...

I'm not referring to their impact on the series, I'm referring to the original tracks in and of themselves.  If we're going to talk remixes, then the point is moot, because 10 uses derivatives thereof as well.  That, I have no gripe with.

I mean, who in their right mind denies the boss intro of 8 or X?

Thanks for counting the re-used themes, though, since I hadn't combed the game soundtrack all that well (or at least I didn't find [parasitic bomb]).  So far as re-using anything significant, I'm not suggesting a direct carry-over without some change of context; a cameo of sorts.  As I said earlier, using MM2's boss theme as a fortress battle, while 9's remains as the main, would be one example.  For another, we could look at MM2's title theme.  Should it be 9's?  No.  Could it be used in some epic cutscene, seeings how the thing is regularly heralded as Rock's character theme in several other games?  Certainly.

MM2 had damn awesome music tracks, but I'm not terribly fond of its jingles.  So the fact that they chose the jingles, and 6 of them, to carry over in 9 is a tad irritating.  I can live with it, mind you, I'm just saying that to me, it detracted from rather than added to the game.
