The MMXOCW piece I referenced is part of a single-page collection, so it's pretty small.  Digital MegaMan World has you covered, though.  This is the one:
http://www.digitalmegamanworld.com/Rockman-X-Manga/RockManX3/volume-3/X3_03_000a.jpg

On the topic of Merti art, there's also this piece (being a manga character there isn't a lot of color art of her).  As far as I know it's just a promo, but it's by the same artist, Yoshihiro Iwamoto:

Manga character.  She hasn't appeared in any games.

If you're equipped with MMXOCW, she's on page 98, on the X3, Volume 3 cover art.

Unless I'm mistaken, in Japan there's Super Mario Bros. 4: Super Mario World.

You can guess what we got it as.

Certainly Mario World is spiritually SMB4, but I've not seen any documentation of that title.

EDITS: Nobody seems to actually list that subtitle (lousy GameFAQs), but it is on the packaging:
http://sweetbee.flyingomelette.com/boxartfiles/smw.jpg

During the backlash against the gaming journalism community for their indifference to NSMBWii, a lot of its fans referred to it as SMB5 (apparently relegating the DS game to the "Land" category, I guess).

Incidentally, Yoshi's Island in Japan is "Super Mario - Yoshi's Island".  No "World 2".

Actually, I know of one english-speaking guy who gave Alia the leftovers (Dynamo) due to X sticking with Merti.

X / Re: Why hasn't technology caught up to X?
« on: September 28, 2010, 12:16:12 AM »
X is a Repliroid. Just as Roll is a Repliroid.
For those not equipped with it (and shame on you), Zan is referring to Zero's victory quote when battling against Roll in Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom.

"human-like" is a fairly loose term, though, given that we're including animals which are to varying degrees anthropomorphized.

That and they feared the reploid's emotions would be too powerful and would "overthrow" the human race.
That and I think there are those people who simply don't see the value in an emotional creation, especially for combat Reploids which is what we usually see in a MegaMan game.  There were plenty who looked down on X back in the day, after all.

So I gather this thread is about "catching up to X" in the emotional sense rather than the power sense (to which one would simply answer that X is constantly growing and that technology HAS caught up to him a couple of times, it just fails to do so on a regular basis).  Thing is, as with every "difference between Reploids and humans" topic, it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.  The fact is that Reploids DO at some point become nigh indistinguishable from humans, ZX being well into that era if you overlook the forehead triangle.

Sometimes I wonder how much of it is capacity and how much of it is simply how they see themselves, though (kind of a nature-vs-nurture thing).

I think that, since very little of Episode 2 is currently finished (story, lol), Sega is doing this mainly to gather input between episodes, similar to how they delayed Ep1.

It's still a sucky value proposition, though.  No Wii game costs 60 bucks, and for lack of the need to actually manufacture anything, a DLC title is expected to be cheaper.  The fact that Nintendo almost never adjusts pricing on their servers doesn't help any for the Wii owners.

I have no doubt, but I'm still pretty early in this thing (I never had the good fortune to get my hands on Startropics 2 back in the day, so this is new to me).

You know, call me stingy if you must, but the fact that this game is taking an episodic approach makes $15 sound pretty damn expensive.  Even only three episodes will put them just five bucks shy of typical new-release Wii disc.  Which makes the whole "side-scrollers aren't valuable enough for discs" thing even more obvious bull than it already is.

Damn straight it is.

I love this game's dungeon theme.  For some reason it sounds very MegaMan-ish to me.

I recall some interview with Sakurai which implied that the 3DS specs were not finalized when Kid Icarus started development, merely that he was told he'd be working with a "more powerful DS".

Even so, I think a lot of the difference is art style.  Kid Icarus is more anime-ish while RE and DOA are more realistic.  My understanding is that the 3DS's GPU has a boatload of features to aid in realistic lighting/shading.  Looking closely, you can spot imperfections in the actual shapes of the models in something like the RE trailer, and these are likely more apparent in anime-style shading.

But to be honest I think Kid Icarus's visuals are looking pretty awesome.  Crisp colors, long draw distance, lovely environments, and the general style IMHO kicks the crap out of the OoT remake screenshots that were released.

Plus, Medusa looks dead sexy. 8)

...what kind of Bizzarro World have I entered where the word "canon" was used to refer to a Pokemon game?

But assuming we are trying to derive story value from a series that gave us "child prodigy collects 8 badges and become the champion" 17 times over, why would Colosseum be exempt?  It doesn't contradict anything established in previous games, and neither so does any future game contradict it.

It's nice that they stepped up to the plate to clear up the confusion about that trailer.  I'm not sure where the claims of it being pre-rendered came from; it always struck me as looking sloppy by FMV standards.

Well, he lacks the ability to "grow up" period, despite clear references to time passage during the Kanto league (and again in the Pikachu and Pichu short).

Don't think he'd have ever been the badass that Wes is, though.  Kinda funny how everyone's psyched about the B/W trainers being older for a change, yet nobody noticed when Colosseum did it.

Now that I *FINALLY* sank in the time to do a full playthrough of the original, my VC Collection is now equipped with Zoda's Revenge: Startropics 2.

Now questing for the queen of Egypt's pizza.  Man, it was a great time, when games were not expected to make sense.

Funny how sarcastic comments evolve into serious thoughts.  Oh well, that's RPM. 8D

All of the above from Align and Jericho holds.  And unless you're deliberately sequence-breaking there is no reason you should be Space Jumping before you Screw Attack in Zero Mission.  The Space Jump is incompatible with your starting suit; it cannot be used until you defeat the Chozodia ruins boss.

In all previous side-scrolling games Space Jump and Screw Attack were separate items (not only that but the Screw Attack symbol is pretty much the most iconic one in Metroid).  It was mainly Prime 2&3 which blurred that line, but that was because the Space Jump in Prime was a simple double-jump.

I don't see the mewtwo avatar...
Apparently my posts-per-page setting there is not the default (don't know how/if one can link to a specific post on IGN).  Sorry about that.

EDITS: This should get you to the proper page regardless.  I think.

I don't think release timing had much to do with that.  Both the Wii and the Super NES launched in the face of competitors who were on the scene for a year or two.  Further, the N64 suffered some troublesome issues with system architecture, particularly its small texture cache.

It's actually pretty unusual for Nintendo to be early out of the gate, but on the handheld market they don't have much in the way of competition.  The PSP is simply the "least badly trashed" of which, and I'm pretty sure at this point Nintendo considers piracy and public perception to be larger threats than whatever Sony's cooking.

Dude, if Legends 3 actually made it to development then got CANCELLED?  Every Legends fan in the entire [tornado fang]ing WORLD would march on Capcom HQ and kick Inafune's ass.
More or less, although the severity of the resulting riot would probably depend on what stage of development it was at.  Is the game in concept?  Tech demos?  Functional engine?  99% ready for release but shafted to hype some other project until somebody leaks it over the internet?

In all fairness, the anime (in the "Heroes" movie, anyway; I've not seen that episode), did not depict Latios/Latias as anywhere NEAR as powerful as they are in the games.

Nevertheless, I had to LOL at Latios.  I swear the people who work with Pokemon just love to screw with the "standard tournament" players' heads.

Point taken, it's something I've long bitched over myself (seriously, in this age of digital distribution, you'd think getting 5 Island Adventure on an actual GAMING PLATFORM wouldn't be so hard).  I was merely pointing out the flaw in your numbering.

Somebody sweeped the DP league with Darkrai?  Damn. XD

Quite a shame that the only League Ash ever actually won was anime-specific.  Nevertheless, championship battle against a Dragonite was pretty awesome.

Regardless of 3DS release timing the DSi was badly handled.  While it is "technically" a new system, it hasn't been properly marketed as such.  And why should they?  It was too much of a baby step.  The DSiWare shop is a half-assed mess of sitting through load times for shovelware after shovelware, and the DSi's extra processing muscle (double speed and 4 times the RAM) has been used for virtually nothing other than improved web browsing.  Not the greatest lure for giving up that GBA slot.  Sure, the general system interface kicks butt, but frankly the only reason I even own a DSi is because my original's top screen cracked.

Gaming systems aren't phones, the buttons are much more easily found by touch.  Although, since the 3DS throws a Home button into the mix, maybe some assurance that one doesn't hit it by accident when fumbling for Start/Select may not be a bad idea.

And I think Pit will make the launch-icus. You know what, I'm gonna watch that trailer again...
Damn straight.  I think I'll do the same. 8)

There's tons of awesome 3DS games in the works from what I've seen, but Kid Icarus DEFINITELY has me the most psyched, and is the title I most want to see at launch (I'm confident that I will, too, it's been hyped the most and from what I gather in dev interviews has already been in development a while).

Yep, the Overthinker nailed it (though on Primes, I liked 'em, though I generally hate the FPS genre).  I agree especially on controls, Grapple Beam excepted (that was a bit awkward/clunky), the game controls remarkably well given the limited controller they chose.  On character, yeah, all this bull about Samus's character switch is pure fanon, and I find this illusion that strong characters must by definition be emotionless rather disturbing.

IGN actually had some freelancer post an article about how Other M "killed" Samus (by a woman, no less, but she echoes the same "strong women must be ice lords" mentality as the rest of the internet).  I posted a rather lengthy refute out of boredom, and I think one person noticed (if anyone cares, scroll down here, look for the Mewtwo avatar).

By the way, remember how Samus self-authorizes the Space Jump, being necessary, and the Screw Attack, which was not?  I think I know why.  Just noticed today, in Other M, the Screw Attack is listed in the menu as a sub-feature under Space Jump in the same manner as Shine Spark falls under Speed Booster.
THEY RUINED SCREW ATTACKING FOREVER!!!

Ash has been in a state of perpetual n00bness ever since Hoenn, because the writers can't be assed to accommodate age, experience, or any other factor that may challenge the status quo.

Knuckles and Tails have enough abilities to be considered diferent characters altogether, to change the game itself in its obstacles. Blaze does not. I honestly considered her just a boring extra in Rush.
I'll grant you that they're a lot more similar, given Rush's more extensive commands and the fact that Blaze simply mirrors most of them.  She does hover, though.
