Agreed on all counts.  I don't think they "lost" the show to either Sony or MS by any means (MS was weak and as I understand it the same "we already knew this" complaint applies to Sony).  They just lacked that definitive "holy crap" moment (again, Zelda U would be it if it wasn't a tech demo).

FINALLY cleared Sports Mix mode on Mario Sports Mix.  The Ninja/White Mage/Black Mage team is cheap as all hell in Expert Basket Ball. O:<

In all fairness it's hard to top 2010's E3.  Nintendo blew everyone's socks off back then with a plethora of new games.  Problem is, we're still waiting for most of 'em.

Yeah, the legs are noticeably thicker, and the shoulders broader as well, overall makes him look a lot more heroic. 8)

I'd have gone with green, but I'm not willing to wait that long, so black it is.

Here:

-AC I meant before that.  It sounded like you were commenting on an issue that nobody ever brought up.

I'm not sure that I care for the "hinge joint orgasm" going on there.  The "robotic" feel of Trigger's past designs was generally more subtle, and IMHO better suited that way since we have seen him out of armor (there's enough "robot" misconceptions from the L2-ignorant as it is).  His waist jumps out now since it lacks any lines.

On the plus side, the "hip guards" are pretty cool, the sleek backpack was about my favorite part of E, and the design looks overall badass.

That would be insanely epic...  Despite owning 4 remotes already I'd STILL have to get that.  XD

You know, I hate to say this, but I found Nintendo's show a bit of a letdown.  New hardware unveil is nice and all, but when all was said and done, I'm largely now excited about the exact same games I was already excited for (Mario, Mario Kart, Kid Icarus, Star Fox, Zelda).  An impressive list, sure, but I've known about all of them since GDC or earlier.  I was hoping for something new beyond just Luigi's Mansion 2.

They have no definitive "flagship" Wii U title.  The Zelda video would have been it, EASILY, but it's a "tech demo", and we all remember what happend with the Gamecube in that department.  Other than that it was just Mii games.  And NSMBMii was basically just rubbing salt in the wound of anyone who had other Mario characters they wished had made the roster (Wario and Peach being the popular ones).

And why was Ubisoft the only 3rd party at their 3rd Party Roundtable?  Ubisoft was already in on Wii and 3DS launches in full force, anyone with a brain stem could have told us they'd be there for Wii U.  And they're among the top 3 counter-points that come to mind when people speak of 3rd party woes with the Wii (the other two being Capcom and Sega).  If Nintendo wants to show that they're being more 3rd-party-friendly, that wasn't the way to do it.

I am thankful for the fact that the Wii wasn't completely forgotten.  Mario Party 9 and Fortune Street give us something other than Skyward Sword (looking awesome, as ever) to look forward to.  The latter is pretty awesome since it's a first for english release.  But then that raises questions as to other Wii/DS games that are still not seeing translation.

To be fair, there's plenty from Nintendo's camp to look forward to.  It's just that we knew about most of it already.

At what point was the word "replacement" used in this discussion?  The discussion of 3DS connectivity was as an option.  Nobody's fool enough to release a console that does not function without a $250 handheld to be purchased separately.

1234
Then of course, they could just build a whole ne controller instead of using the (3)DS.
From IGN:
Quote
"Our basic premise is that you can use one with a system," Miyamoto told the site. He detailed further that asking players to use more controllers started to beg the question of why not just find a way to use a 3DS as a Wii U controller.
Evidently, it's not set in stone yet.  Miyamato also said that they're still exploring what happens if a friend brings their tablet over wanting to play together.

The perfect "good guys under attack" music.  I very often envision what it'd be like hearing this during a battle at a Maverick Hunter base. 8)

Remind me to get on that over the weekend...

Sound the alarm,

Capcom character possible in the next SSB

Pretty telling that, in a choice of 10 characters, Mega Man dominates with well over 50% of the votes.

Good luck with that one.

Sony already has (lost) my credit card for Complete Works 1-3, so it's a moot point with me.  But I didn't get a PSP until ludicrously late in its life cycle; I just don't get that excited for Sony hardware.  I'm one of those "franchise/nostalgic" gamers (hey, this IS a Mega Man board), so it takes a while for most Playstation systems to build a roster of titles that interest me.

1238
I find it interesting to read that Sakurai personally was responsible for balancing characters in Brawl.  Did he not let himself revisit older characters after doing the newer ones?  Because seriously, look at Bowser, look at any other heavyweight, and...what were you thinking?!

So it's backwards compatible with PSN downloads only.

As long as the Vita is backwards compatible, and I can import it, the 3DS can wait o/
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Vita lacks a UMD drive.

I don't imagine it'd be any small stretch for backwards compatability in the realm of digital downloads, though.

Apparently Ubi was the ONLY third party dev in that round table.  Disappointing.

^^^

I'm sorry Nintendo, you lose in terms of portables this round \o/
You know, everyone said the same thing when the first DS launched.

$250 Vita is certainly unexpected, I'll give them that.  Even if it is the low-grade model.

So, the basic jist of things:

-Bunch of awesome games we already knew about.
-Zelda Skyward Sword includes an alternate dimension where you're swordless.  And, as expected, your sword's spirit (Phi) is your "navigator" in the game.  Much more overworld puzzles in this one, calling for an improved map system.
-Luigi's Mansion 2 is happening because...Miyamoto wanted to.  It's coming early 2012.
-Mario 3DS includes a Zelda-tribute stage.  Top-down view with Mario leaping towards the camera, lighting torches with fireballs, and dodging ye olde moving spike blocks.
-3DS Tanooki Suit does not fly.  Apparently that was too difficult to do on a small 3D screen (I smell the "we couldn't program Peach's dress" level of BS; can't they just say they wanted to make stages that aren't so easily broken?).  They only decided to have Mario fly back in SMB3 after seeing how good the fluttering motion looked.
-Pikmin 3 is coming to Wii U, and Miyamoto apparently wasn't supposed to talk about it. XD It *WAS* a Wii project, but Miyamoto felt the U's controller was a perfect fit for it.
-Vitality Sensor doesn't give consistent enough results for market yet, but they're still working on it.

Yeah, I just noticed.  Maybe there's some lag in when the page refreshes?  *shrugs*

IGN stopped their liveblog for the Zelda demo; all folks were asked to shut off their wireless to avoid the interference disaster of last year.  Gamespot is being naughty, though. :V

IGN's blog is live.  Roundtable seems to be running late.

In all the new hardware talk I sincerely hope that NoA hasn't forgotten about that Fire Emblem game they left untranslated.  By now that's probably wishful thinking, though... O:<

EDITS: Oh yeah, there is a Gamespot blog:

Seems you have to manually refresh that one, though (or at least I did at first...).

Has anyone besides me had issues linking their e-Shop account to Club Nintendo?  They're clearly linked, since stuff I downloaded is showing up for Product Registration Surveys, yet making the link is still on my To-Do list for some reason.

Thanks.  I nabbed a few favorites, so I'll get to see them in the coming days. 8)

The XMLs are the "instructions" for Riivolution.  They tell Riivolution what game it should be looking for and what files of that game to replace (the "template" XMLs generally replace whatever files it finds for a given game).  Each XML file creates a separate option in Riivolution's menu that you can enable/disable before you start your game.

Just tried out Excitebike and Pokedex.  Love that my 'dex started with Hydreigon. 8)

Also got Little Big Planet and Pursuit Force as part of Sony's welcome back.
