So... odds of Motoi Sakuraba doing Golden Sun DS' music?

I hope they bring back Jenna's battle theme. So damn catchy.

But it IS broken. Twilight Princess was probably the most boring, hugely empty, non-challenging Zelda I've played with the most retarded shoe-horning of a villain (Ganon) that I've seen since Mega Man X6. There were huge expanses where literally nothing happened, items in dungeons had little to no use outside of the dungeon you got them in and those last few dungeons felt very uninspired... like they were rushed (I will happily say this doesn't seem so for that one dungeon in the sky where you get the double hook shot.)

There's not much excuse in trying to defend that. You KNOW there's a problem when the final boss of all people does as much or less damage than a Dark Nut.

Didn't it sell like $4 million copies?  Not Wii Fit sales, but nothing to scoff at either.  I want steampunk Zelda too, but give me regular Zelda, and I'll be quite content.
Of course it sold okay. Twilight Princess was probably one of two or three titles worth picking up on launch. A large chunk of its sales just came because it was a launch title. I'm just saying the series is falling flat in that it keeps trying to be Ocarina of Time again. Twilight Princess was especially guilty of this. The series needs a change from that. Some games can stay the same and still work well (Mega Man) but others just can't work for too long with out growing very stale. TP followed the same form of run across hyrule to go to an elementally themed dungeon, beat the boss, then go to the next themed dungeon until you get three some-odd items... then a plot-twist of some sort, then you have to go through the last six or so themed dungeons to reach the castle dungeon to fight Ganondorf while having to save Zelda's butt.

At their basic, OoT and TP... and even Wind Waker to an extent fall victim to this pattern. Only Majora's Mask broke the pattern for something that raises an eyebrow.

They would fight at first, then team up and kick ass... you know, like Lady and Dante. Vergil will then cry himself to sleep that he got shafted out of co-star role in a game... after murdering a few thousand demons.

Until Zelda embraces steampunk and evolves out of its rut, the series is dead.

NSMB Wii seems to be gaining steam now. I do think Nintendo would have been better off showing single-player for a bit before breaking out multiplayer. Just showing multiplayer sent a lot of fear out through the interwebs.

Protip, Nintendo: SHOW Gameplay footage more, not sales figures. This isn't E3 from the last two years when that would fly more. This is the over-glorified spectacle where the Internet caves in and all hell breaks loose. At least try to wow people with the games.

(Spirit Tracks could so have been shown off instead of tossed aside if they weren't ranting about how much the Wii's sold or all this other nonsense. Could have opened up a good extra ten minutes by cutting most of that mindless masturbatory chattering.)

Sidenote: The one year out of the last six I don't explicitly ask for a Golden Sun DS and it happens... and then Camelot trolls the journalists by making the demo ridiculously short (Exit Isaac's house, cross a bridge, demo over.) Great stuff there!

PB, tell Lou to visit Namdai's area. Put me out of my misery in terms of Vesperia. :P

907
Was Resident Evil PSP known about before?

If not, there's your last secret Capcom title.

908
The main characters look like Isaac, Mia and Garet, but older.

However... Garet's also using a wind element (lightning). Maybe children of the main characters?

Koopalings confirmed for NSMB Wii.

Look at that... Nintendo actually listened.

910
Sony gets top presentation this year. Microsoft follows and Nintendo drags last again. Their whole conference would fall apart if you removed Golden Sun DS, Metroid M and Galaxy 2. Some would argue NSMB Wii, but that doesn't look impressive at all at this point.

Also Wii Vitality Monitor. (facepalms)

911
I saw Mother Brain in it.

I grinned.

912
Final comments.

Nintendo won. Stop arguing.

Mario Galaxy 2
Mario & Luigi 3 RPG Localization
New! SMB Wii
Golden Sun DS
Metroid: Another M
Zelda: Spirit Tracks
Sin & Punishment 2
Final Fantasy: Chrystal Chronicles
Mario & DK DSiware.

[tornado fang] me if that's not a solid lineup. XD

I'll have to disagree. They showed three strong titles and the rest is stuff we knew was coming over anyway. I'm not saying they're bad titles, but... three gems in a sea of otherwise coal (the expected stuff) and crap (the stupid [parasitic bomb] they showed off.) does not make a win. It's 2nd place to Microsoft right now.

Sorry, but that's what it looks like when you take off the rose tinted glasses

913
and Super Mario Bros. Wii.  That 4 player versus screams RPM smacktalk  :V

Except it's not confirmed online or to support voice chat so there's none of that anyway.

914
Golden Sun DS, Metroid Project M and Super Mario Galaxy 2 saved this trainwreck of a conference.

I couldn't stop laughing at the Wii Vitality Monitor. IT'S A [tornado fang]ing HEART MONITOR!

915
Golden Sun DS.

This shameful event can end now. They hit their star announcement.

Day one.

916
The hammer bros. suit is probably the most godly oddity of the franchise. Perhaps it's too awesome to come back?

917
Oh, I know the Zelda fanboys will just rage over this one but...

for the love of god, Zelda needs what FF6 and FF7 were to that brand. More technology, grow out of the medieval ages. It's gotten so stale. I almost couldn't stand Twilight Princess. Wind Waker was charming enough because it didn't stink of medieval influence.

918
Microsoft's conference wasn't too bad, IMO. I'm interested in seeing where that motion sensing stuff goes as it's very ambitious. At the same time, it's almost set to fail. I'm hoping Rising is on PS3 as well. Nothing against the 360 boys and I'm glad they can enjoy the series too, but I'd prefer PS3 for the title.

IMO, Nintendo's conference is going to be pretty weak. Microsoft pretty much called Nintendo out and burned them in their conference.

Our controller has you using your whole body to control, not just sitting on the couch and waggling. (journalists go "ooooo!" then laugh)

They're going to have to do more than show off Motion Plus and Wii Sports Resort... and Wii Fit Plus.

If you look closely, you can see the green marking on the button. Other than that, the trailer lacks quite a bit of polish.

But you never know. I could be prove wrong and these two are coming to Wii. I certainly wouldn't be against getting Final Mix for either game brought over. I mean... most of the work is already done. They just need to translate a few new things and bring the voice actors from Re:CoM in for the other Org 13 members, assuming they don't just straight recycle the voices already in Re:CoM.

920
Microsoft kicks things off as always. They like to be first out the gate with everything, regardless of consequences... see Xbox 360's rampant failures.

Nintendo will be Tuesday as 12pm EDT and Sony's will follow about an hour or two later.

921
I've not much of a problem with Bowser Jr. as he is. I just think it was really lazy of Nintendo to recycle him so many times in NSMB when they could have clearly slapped his siblings into the first seven worlds and then had Bowser Jr. in the 8th before his father.

:o

Logo looks like crap, triangle button in clip of what looked like the final boss... and English menu text.

Sorry, even the Final Mixes had the text in Japanese. Fake.

923
The Grasslands theme is catchy as hell. I also love how ominous The Underworld's music was.

924
I wouldn't mind a NSMB2 if they tightened up the controls a little more. Mario operates a little too 3D-ish still for the 2D setting, as well as... you know...

Bringing back the Koopalings instead of just Bowser Jr. eight times over? I don't see why they can't all exist at once.

The stigma comes from the idiot mentality of, "It's Sonic so it MUST be bad."

I just need to say you've seen what I'm capable of online from time to time. I do like some of the tricks in that video, though.

But let's not shift this to another Brawl topic. We've got plenty!
