Chain Rod. It steals health then cuts them in half. Perfect.

Perhaps in a few months down the line. Right now, everything on shelves should be packing older firmware, possibly even launch.

I do like the Warning system for giant viruses and V3/Omega bosses. You at least know something important's coming or to run the hell away.

Shouldnt this have been on the front page for news? I mean, a lot of people come here just to check the news......but it may be posted on another site so I dont know.
You'd be surprised how niche the Star Force crowd is. Most of them flock like sheep to TUS.

You go by boat to Vermilion, yes, but mostly because the train was closed. The bullet train opens up around the time you get to Saffron and get the Magnet Rail Pass. This is nothing new at all.

Nonetheless, good to see Kanto's in, or at least have it confirmed.

Gaming / Re: Obligatory Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum thread

The most we can really do is wait until Monday, I guess. I would like to believe that Diamond and Pearl would be included too, since the people with those versions shouldn't be punished for not getting Platinum, but this IS Nintendo... who are usually pretty assholish with their Pokemon titles and promos.

Lameass marketing.  The room is in every version, so there's no reason for that.
See, they may just say it's only for Platinum, but it could very well work for Diamond and Pearl. At any rate, it's still worth trying out.

You could argue the Surfing Pikachu mini-game, but that only served as a nice distraction if you happened to have the surfing pikachu from Stadium, I believe.

784
@STM:No it's not. There's no Jessie and James, you can't get the 3 starters withou trading, Gary doesn't have the eveelutions, and the gym leaders don't have the same pokemons.
Fanservice, negligible since you only need two more, point, negligible since they weren't much harder.

785
...It's just R&B but with Pikachu as a starter. If you want Yellow, just boot up Fire Red or Leaf Green and catch a Pikachu in Viridian Forest. Yeah, it won't follow you around, but it's pretty much the same damn thing.

People, can we agree to call 2009 the Year of the Countdown Clocks? I mean, for the love of God, I've never seen so many countdown clocks in a year before.

$13 for a manga...

How big is this manga? I'll still likely buy it, but I'm curious.

This game is relevant to my interests now. [tornado fang] yeah [tornado fang]'d up Disney.

Capcom's already been having pretty nasty problems with DLC and how they handle it. It may not be a good idea for them to make it worse by doing that.

I tried in Platinum. It got very hard to gain wins around the fighting-type gym.

Has anyone responded to that downplaying by making a doubles division guideline akin to Smogon or have none just caught on? Doubles certainly seems like a place where all hell can break loose.

Hopefully it's better than Symphonia 2. I think gaming could have gone along quite fine without that one.

Probably can't find someone who wants to publish the book with all the cards in it. I heard the Wave Command Card book sold terribly in the U.S. and made Prima lose money.

794
While this card sounds awesome (600 damage potential?) it has a problem that Andromeda and Le Mu didn't have. While you needed to line those two up in the same column to get max damage, you at least delivered damage, one way or another. With this one, the flames Crimson shoots out are blocked by broken panels. This means one panel out is enough to block this card.

Well, if I remember from the Melee scene, Peach was pretty low on the list until someone found out how nasty she can really get (bow chicka bow wow) and she suddenly skyrocketed.

Also, yeah, I will agree Smogon's rules do give other Pokemon a chance, but I don't like how most people online want them to be the end-all be-all of how the game is played. Would it kill you to just have a no holds barred exhibition match once in a while?

His moves have a ton of priority... pretty much near broken levels.

As for Pit and Ike, Pit's got some pretty serious combo potential and a person that can master his flying ability and his up-b can pretty much stall out a whole match or pursue someone all over the map, so I do see him being used quite a bit. Ike... well, come on, the guy can K.O. at 40% on Final Destination and despite being slow as molasses, he's a popular pick for newer players or people who feel like [tornado fang]ing around with other players.

It's such a worthless list, yet, much like Smogon, people subscribe to it like it's a [tornado fang]ing bible.

Isn't that what we do? Why not play with us more often?
My TV's still dead and the EPT (estimated purchase time) for a new one is quite a ways away. Pretty much, this limits me to stealing one from around the house for a little bit because moving the console itself would mean I'd have to move a lot of wires. The main bulk of my gaming's been on portables, which is why I've been able to dedicate to much time to Star Force 3.

I admit there are times when I play Yoshi almost exclusively (hey, he's my best, that's all there is to it), but otherwise, you're preaching to the choir.  The more chaos, the better.  'maru didn't give me the title of Bob-omb Cheating Bastard for nothing. 8)

Once in a while I flip it to 15-Stock 2.0 Damage, and then things really get kicking.

Well, I don't mean a person picks the same character... that's expected. I don't expect people to know all 35 people on the roster. Speaking in general online and offline, you usually see a major bulk of Metaknights, Snakes, Pits, Marths and Ikes with dashings or very few of others, since a lot of people seem to follow "tier listings" to heart. I won't hide that I primarily play as Sonic despite all of his alleged shortcomings because I love how versatile and fluid he is compared to others.

Boy, STM, you certainly seem a bit cynical.

Sometimes a person needs to take off the rose-tints to give an honest opinion... otherwise, I'd be gushing all over Secret Rings and how awesome Night Palace and Levitated Ruins are. :P

Brawl is the most frequent game which RPMers set up, if you haven't noticed the pinned thread.

Oh, I know. I'm just saying I got bored of the game. A lot of people play but a lot of people only play one way and that gets really boring. I would play Melee causing all sorts of chaos or at least on a variety of stages. I got really sick of the same rules, the same characters, the same stages... I don't care if people like tourney rules, it stagnates the game and makes it dull for those of us who love creating chaotic matches that are fun.

And hey, hacking online doesn't have to be cheating.
It can be extraordinarily awesome,
although it take some cooperation with your friends to work.

With friends, it's fine. On random? No.

Funny how with other series the lack of difference from predecessors is considered a negative.  But as much as I love MM9, I've found the likes of Twilight Princess and Brawl to be far more rewarding and longer lasting experiences.  9 has a lot of great moments, but on the whole it's no match for 3.  And the only reason it holds a candle to 2 is because of DLC.  The stage design is at times great and at others severely annoying, and the shop system is failure.  Buy hey, playing as Protoman for an extra few bucks, hard to argue with that.

My guess is because I enjoyed the Mega Man platformers quite a bit for how simple and short they are, much like MM9. The other two require a little more dedication to get the most out of them.

I may need to download a finished save.  I really, really do not have the patience to put up with NiGHTS's garbage pile of minigames, although I can see the potential of the core mechanics.  I cannot believe Sega made such a stupendously bad REMOTE POINTER of all things, you'd think that would be a basic thing for Wii development.

If you do, do yourself a favor and jump into the rainbow fountain (if this is a true 100% file when you download it) before going to Bellbridge. You'll spare yourself from so many cutscenes because the unlockable negates all cutscenes and dialog.
