Gaming / Plants vs Zombies... in New York
« on: October 01, 2009, 07:00:37 PM »
Honestly, if none of you New Yorkers (New Englanders get a little break... just a little) go to this, you forfeit your geekdom immediately.

Quote
Downloadable defense game sensation Plants vs. Zombies invades the nation's largest Halloween celebration, as hordes of zombies and their leafy foes take to the streets in New York City's 36th Annual Village Halloween Parade.

Popcap Games is an official sponsor of this year's Village Halloween Parade, and they're not content to be represented by a lousy street sign. No, they're forming a Plants vs. Zombies troupe to march in the parade, inviting fans of the game, zombie groupies, and "macabre gardening types" to come celebrate with them on October 31st. The company is attempting to make this year's event the largest zombie gathering in parade history, going as far as to extending special invitations to zombie enthusiast organizations such as NYC Zombie Crawl and ZombieCon.

...

The parade kicks off at 7PM on Halloween night. If you're in the area, you probably won't want to miss it. And hey, bring the kids! It's an excellent alternative to keeping them locked in the closet all night for their own safety.

I expect RPMs presence to be felt there in some form... and videos, of course.

I've contemplated getting SF4 on my PS3 but held off on the sheer rumblings of new stuff coming. I'm kinda glad I did.

GUTTER TRASH

I guess it was because I was more expecting less replaying EXE 1, more Geo dicking around and trying to avoid causing time paradoxes with limited interaction from the other characters. The story would be slightly more original then. I'm holding out there's an "other side story" like that unlockable, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

EDIT: To be clear, I'm talking on the point of view of playing as mostly Geo.

I don't know... the more I'm hearing about this, the more it's sounding like a lazy port of EXE 1 with a few extras to make it slightly more interesting. Really don't know what to make of it.

If real, give Makoto and Dudley.

If fake, good shoop.

I already found my fav character:

The bearded guy to the right.
Looking at the cast list, I'm wondering which one's the party character that will die/only be around for part of the game.

Also, I motion that we don't get retarded music themes like "Cosmos" or any of the three Chaos battle songs. The singing was insufferable and the lyrics down-right bad. At least we can change the music on Chaos round 1. We're screwed on the other two.

Yea, Estelle might be a bit more usefull but then again, i'm one of those people who never noticed her do anything particularly stupid sence i turned off all her Strike artes and set her strategy to MAGIC ARTES ONLY. Made sure to equip her with a Faerie Ring so she'd use less TP and be less likely to try and run up and kill stuff with her pathetic melee skills of FAILITUDE.

Eh, I'll stick with Raven using Love Shot on everyone with Yuri running around with Guardian Field. Status Effects aren't really a problem and should reviving be necessary, I've got Life Bottles. Grade doesn't mean anything to me anymore.

He's pretty similar to Aifread the Pirate then in Tales of, where he's mentioned or appears in several of the games.

And Balthier has no opinion of you because you're insignificant in his eyes. 8U

The idea of an expanded roster interests me for the sequel. I've got a few people I'd like to see in from the games I've seen.

I - Never played it... I don't know, I guess someone based off Red Mage? He always did seem like a pimp.

II - Never played, but I DO hope David Bowie here gets better A.I. than just "RUN AMOK!"

III - For the heroes, since Luneth is in... I don't know... Refia? For the villains, that bastard Xande who decided it was a good idea to bring back CoD.

IV - Not sure for the heroes. Would we be considering After Years characters too? Kage is also acceptable. Kain is almost a shoe-in if they don't go for Zeromus

V - Yeah, I'm going with Galuf here. Most epic death in the series. I don't give a damn for villains, but I'd randomly throw in Gogo as a more magic based Mime.

VI - Ooo... tough one. All of them are developed pretty well. I'd guess Celes, but to change things up a little, Sabin. Villain should go to General Leo to fit in with the anti-hero group party Jecht and Golbez formed.

VII - Zack Fuckin' Fair, with his Limit Break being Cactaur Dance into Apocalypse for the heroes. Easily. For villains... some would go for the Gackt-alike, but he's a [tornado fang]ing lame-ass villain. I'll play the Rufus Shinra card here, even if he is reformed now. The man wields a damn shotgun against Cloud's meat cleaver.

VIII - Don't care for most of the cast, but man, I gotta go with man-beast that is Laguna Loire for the heroes. Seifer's pretty much a no-brainer for the villains.

IX - We've got enough mages, thanks to the villains, so we don't need another. I'd go with Steiner. Not terribly interested with the villains.

X - Okay, Yuna can [tornado fang] off immediately so long as Auron's still in the wings. Come on, you gotta love a guy who summons a tornado, throws booze into it and sets the whole damn thing on fire. Villains DEFINITELY don't need another mage, so as much as Seymour deserves the position, I'm going to have to lean closer to X-2's Tidus-clone, Shuyin.

XI - Don't care.

XII - Balthier. No more needs to be said. Vaan's worthless. I don't know the villains well enough to throw a vote there.

And for the hell of it...

XIII - Lightning and Snow on the heroes. There's this one moron with blue hair in the trailers. He looks evil, lets use him.

XIV - Don't care.

FF7's heidegger should also be a summon. Damn egg man

I really want to find Karol's voice actress and ask her if she could record a line to overdub on Karol's 2nd Mystic Arte.

"Pierce the heavens with your mighty drill! Let's go! ULTRA BOMBER... X!!"

Also,
Estelle's new Mystic Arte, Ultimate Elements
... well. Dare I say she may actually be useful now?

I don't like how much of a wuss they made her that she has to rely on Onion Knight (...would it kill them to just name him Luneth? I doubt many people outside of Japan even remember the original O.K.) I miss the absolute wrecking machine she was at the end of FF6 after snapping out of her depression in World of Ruin.

But then again, they also made Cloud extremely depressive compared to how much of a talkative [tornado fang] he was in VII, but we've already analyzed it's just because he's an eternal screw-up who can't even save the world right.

Him being cheesy only adds to the game. I was hoping for Dante, since he pretty much personifies cheese at times, but Frank is an excellent substitute.

I've been trying to get the materials for Tidus', Squall's, Zidane's and Cloud's better equipment. I got some of the components but am missing a few completely. I imagine they'll be in Lunar Whale course?

I only mention them since they're at level 100 and almost fully set up, a few moves needing to be mastered here and there. Expect Bartz and Onion Knight to join them soon enough. Not interested in the other heroes and I've yet to try out the villains, though Jecht looks like he'll join my playable roster pretty easily.

In three forms, no less. It makes use of the otherwise [tornado fang]ing useless Aer Krene locations on the 360 version.

I knew there was more to the locations than previously thought.

I will say this about Shantotto.

She makes excellent killing fodder. Her A.I. is quite stupid, possibly as bad as Exdeath.

Because Nomura is incapable of drawing manly-looking characters (especially heroes) without also making them look gay or feminine.

She knows Double Cast. That scares me if her and Rita both overlimit and both use Tidal Wave.

And Flynn... man, someone had to be reading forums if they buffed him to the point of being probably one of the best Magic Sword class characters in the series.

I saw them pull of Yuri's 2nd Mystic Arte. Can't help but think that it's one of those I'll never use. It looks pretty weak compared to Savage Wolf Fury.

I thought it was ridiculous that Flynn now summons a small laser beam from space. Now he has that.

And people were afraid he'd be just another generic Tales of Magic Swordsman.

Well, I wasn't expecting a grand change of things, but I was expecting a little more changes, at least with a new character involved.

To be fair though, it was only the start of the second part (of three) of the game and Patty only just joined. Some larger changes could be around the corner. Anyway, the player apparently stopped after the Yuri vs. Flynn battle and before that, explored a brand new dungeon.
