I think Windwaker was the closest to a 3D Zelda 1 we will ever see. No wonder why I loved just sailing and exploring. OCEAN TOO BIG comments be damned.
I never said the Great Sea was too big. I just didn't like all the busywork. Usually in Zelda games, most Heart Pieces are earned through side quests. In the Wind Waker, most of them are treasure. I guess this means it's more like classic games.

Seriously, if Windwaker had even two more dungeons, it would have easily surpassed the Ocarina of Time in all capacities.
About 80% of the game is actually exploring the sea for treasure--mainly the Heart Pieces. I also explored for money because you never had enough money in the Wind Waker. You were always buying something and everything was pretty expensive.

My point, another dungeon or two would have killed most of this sea busywork.

My biggest complaint with the Water Temple was that you were always constantly putting the Iron Boots on and off.

I only remember seeing 3.1 on pcs where at my father's office, though.

98 is not very old school. I had it on my PII until spring when I tried putting XP on it.
Uhh... XP is now considered old school in the tech world; it's already eight years old. To be more accurate, 98 is ancient; it's 11 years old.

I have 2 sticks of 1 GB of RAM. How much would I get out of replacing this with 2x2 GB?
Depends on your OS. If you have a 32-bit OS, there's really no point in getting 2GB sticks. The only reason you would do that is if you're planning on upgrading to 8GB of RAM in the future and a 32-bit OS can only detect up to 4GB. Most motherboards have four slots, so you could get 4GB of RAM by just buying two more 1GB sticks. If you do this, remember that you have to buy two sticks. Keeping Side A and Side B of your memory the same is key to system performance and stability.

Are you getting both a desktop and laptop? If so, how much money do you have to use at any given time? XD
$2800 now and in January. Since I'm planning on buying Adobe CS4, I'll probably get a rather cheap laptop.

Heh, really sucks how you can't customize laptops doesn't it?
Yes, it does. I'm considering getting a laptop at the beginning of the next year. If I could, I would custom build a laptop too.

[tornado fang]ing awesome. Personally though, I'm waiting for the DirectX 11 cards from ATi just because they're right around the corner (September 10th apparently) and they sound like they have quite a bit of awesome benefits right out the gate.
That's a tentative wish list. It's already gone through a lot of changes. I'm not going to buy the parts until after Windows 7 gets released [October 22], and there's supposed to be a lot of new hardware coming out before then.

I noticed that some of the Homepages were more advanced in the JAP version then they were in the US version... Why did they feel the need to change those?
Capcom does it to [acid burst] off their fanbase, of course. You gotta keep those hardcore types interested somehow. Capcom can't do that through innovation and adding new things, so they change tiny things in the games that don't matter for the US version instead.

omg! They changed the jack-in sequence in BN2!
omg! They changed the homepages!
omg! They took the blood out in Zero!

Level of Proficiency
Above Average
I've only began down the road that'll take me down the path of the techie. I've done a lot of homework in researching computer parts and such for when I build my own computer in about a month and a half. I was also able to give my computer a huge upgrade for about $100.

Are you a light or heavy electronics consumer?
Considering that I'll be spending roughly $3000 on my new computer, I consider myself a heavy consumer. I'm willing to shell out a lot of money for computers.

Experience
Since I'm still pretty new, I really don't have any. I'll get back to you after I purchased the parts for my new beast of a computer.

the 360 Arcade is a scam. sure it's cheaper than the Wii at face value, but you can't do [parasitic bomb] with the 64MB memory card they pack in. you have to buy a hard drive.
64MB? That doesn't seem like very much and without a HDD, you can't even save. By the time you factor in the HDD being bought separately, you would have been better off buying a Pro.

Actually, come to think of it, why don't we have a general PC discussion thread on RPM? I'd love to flex whatever nerd muscle I have in a topic like that if it'd help anyone else or be interesting for gathering news on stuff. XD
I would like a Computer Discussion forum too. My operating system thread could get thrown into it.

Anyway, I just received an update from Hitomi about the 360's price. Apparently, it's been given a price drop. The Elite, which I said earlier was $400, is now $300. The Pro system is now $250. My guess is that Arcade is still at $200, though, until I've seen different.

A laptop should be able to handle most--if not all--retro emulators. Anything requiring more power, like Street Fighter IV in Taiyo's instance, will require a desktop to play to its maximum potential. A graphic chip will never measure up to a card. Ever. Unless the card is seriously about six years old.

And what if I told you that the laptop is still the best thing for PC gaming I will ever have for quite a long while? My parents see upgrading the PC as a waste of money, so I'm stuck with quite an old desktop PC =/
My parents think the same thing. I upgraded the computer anyway, especially since the old GPU got fried. I took the opportunity to upgrade the RAM too. The warranty was about to expire and I wasn't going to spend $200 on shipping to get it fixed, so I did it myself--and got a better GPU out of the deal.

Honestly, upgrading isn't that expensive. You could easily do it for under $100 if you know what you're looking for.

I hate how my laptop is brand new and a new model, and yet I still can only get 60fps in SFIV with everything at the absolute lowest setting. Anything above and it avarages to 20fps AT BEST D:
Okay, everyone, repeat after me:

LAPTOPS AREN'T FOR GAMING.

If you want something that can play games, get a desktop. Laptops don't have the power.
