You know, this movie basically has like two characters and like a billion pieces of window dressing.
The EVA's are so underutilized that its ridiculous. Asuka's in the movie for like 20 minutes maybe, Mari even less so. Rei? Barely in this, why should she be? She's just another clone (And no, that's not a spoiler, its pretty [tornado fang]ing obvious).
You know that cool beast mode 02 from 2.22? Its back...
but it can be activated at will? AND IT CAN TURN INTO A [tornado fang]ing CAT? WHAT? And it blows up, Unit 02's blown up again. What a waste. And Kaworu went asplode, oh well, didn't expect him to be alive for very long anyway.
Asuka, why should Shinji have to come with you? You and everybody else is just going to treat him like [parasitic bomb] again in the next movie. And of course RINO 2.0 is along for the ride too because why not.
God, what a [tornado fang]ing [parasitic bomb] movie. I'm like, seriously mad. THIS is what we have waited since 2010 for? THIS is what we get as a sequel to 2.0, which was [tornado fang]ing amazing?
Like seriously, [tornado fang] Khara, [tornado fang] Anno, and [tornado fang] the fact that this probably went through countless rewrites, somehow I think there actually was going to be a good script but somebody just came along and ruined it all. I mean, it has some good music maybe, and I like the art and designs and general aesthetics, because those feel like they've been taken from something actually good, but there's NOTHING ELSE REDEEMABLE.
[tornado fang]... I just wanted Unit 01 and 02 wrecking angels and maybe something bigger reveals itself in the end. But instead its like the Anime where it becomes Shinji's Road Trip of Depression with robots maybe. The only fighting is basically Eva infighting and while that was cool in Episode 18 and 24 of the TV show and EoE when that's all we get instead of maybe some more creative angel designs it leaves something to be desired.
The "Teaser" for the next movie is just an Eva fighting lots of other Eva's, so you know Mass Production units but not the white ones from EoE but a ton of boring Army Green Mk. 06 knockoffs. And naturally the Fanservice thing at the end, but with the huge character change Misato had in this movie it feels out of place.
Of course, I say Teaser in quotes because after what happened last time where NOTHING from the teaser for 3.0 was in the actual movie I'm more inclined to believe that nothing shown will actually be in the movie.
