I like how people like that I complain about how boring Wisconsin is.
Its also just overall a shitty place to be if you like anything that's not outdoors-y or sports. Its too hot in the Summer and too cold in the Winter, its got some nice scenery and the air's clean but that's all I can really say that's positive.

That's like saying Violent Video games cause kids to kill people or be assholes because a guy in GTA did it.
Its just kids imitating what they think is cool, kids are stupid and people need to understand that and apply cautious parenting and such.

As for the Mary-O thing, Its sort of like how I personally pronounce Samus. Instead of SAM-US I pronounce it more SAH-MUS. I don't care if its wrong, it sounds better.
