Another wave of dizziness hit, and Mewtwo reeled, catching his balance so that the Eevee didn't tumble off his shoulder.  His entire upper body felt like it was covered in a sheet of cold prickles and he felt light-headed.

Yeung stepped forward, studying him. "Are you going to faint?"  His words sounded as if coming through a long pipe, hollow, distant, and tinny.

Mewtwo didn't answer him, his breath coming in quick and shallow, his head feeling as if it were a fragile weight balanced precariously on his shoulders, and that cold, prickly feeling causing his hands to go numb.  If he could sweat, he would be drenched.  He gripped the edges of the stool he was seated on, only his hands didn't want to work correctly.

"I think it's going to faint, hold on," Yeung quickly left the room.  He returned a moment later, pulling a chair behind him.  "Here, get it in the chair, put its head back and its feet up.  I'll get it some water."  He left the others to the task as he busied himself at a sink, filling a cup with water and soaking a folded paper towel.

"Your creator? Why bother saving him, when he was the one that brought you in in the first place? Why bother rescue him along with the traitor Ahrzayl?" Joe continued.

"He did so under duress, and he helped me escape the first time, along with Ahrzayl," Mewtwo nodded.  He fell silent for a moment as a wave of dizziness swept over him and his stomach became a cold, growling pit.  He shook his head to clear it and glanced off toward a corner, his eyes focused on some far-off horizon.  There was something amiss, though he could not quite determine what it was.  Something about Ahrzayl that seemed... off. 

As he was pondering on that notion, he was hit with another wave of dizziness, and he shook his head, silent for a very long moment as his thoughts tapered off and he found himself staring blankly at nothing.  Shaking his head again, he sat up straighter. "My creator helped me escape before, as did Ahrzayl..." he trailed off again, realizing that he had repeated himself.

Mewtwo met Joe's gaze. "He asked me to do so.  This was something that I had deliberated, and after my own research, I had discovered that it was necessary.  That man is one of my creators, and there is... darkness in him.  Darkness that must be contained.  This darkness was contained twice before, by his first project, and then again by myself.  And when it had begun to reemerge, I had to contain it.  Thus, I focused my energy into a Disabling attack."  He paused.  "The surrounding destruction was an unintended consequence."

Yeung had finished with what he was doing and had since turned around, leaning on the counter, listening.

Tails often do grow back, but the new tail is usually slightly skinnier, with a constriction where the tail was dropped.  In iguanas (and I would assume most related species), the new tail is all black.

Domino flattened her lips into a thin line. "Yeah.  Honestly, I didn't have anything against those clones back on Mount Quena.  I was just doing my job.  Giovanni said to grab 'em, so I did.  Now, though..." she trailed off, looking at her computer.  There was just something that made her uncomfortable.  Back then, she had no qualms with capturing the clones and even saying what their intended purpose was.  They were to be used in experiments and as bait for Mewtwo.  However, Domino wasn't going to actively participate in those experiments.  She was simply going to hand them off to the research team and get back to her own work.  This time, however, she was an active member of the research team, as dictated by her undercover status.  She had participated in the examination of Mewtwo, but eventually managed to think of an excuse to duck out.  It wasn't anything intensive, either, just a simple physical and a few x-rays.

Domino let out a breath and shook her head, trying to clear it.  She had prided herself with being headstrong, but she was starting to have her doubts as of late.  The whole situation just doesn't sit right with her.  The business with Cipher, seeing their agents milling about, this whole Shadow Pokemon project and Giovanni keeping her in the dark, Mewtwo's clones left to the whims of Yeung's curiosities, Yeung's own strange interest in Meowth, along with Jessie's disappearance and Steiner's involvement in that...  Something was brewing, and she wasn't sure what.  Whatever it was, she didn't like it. 

"I haven't seen the clones myself, yet, but," Domino changed the subject, "just out of curiosity... Are any of those baby clones there?  Remember the Nidoqueen?  I'd assume that the babies would be full grown by now, but I don't want Yeung's team finding out about them.  That's a whole can of Wurmples right there, if he found out that that Ryhorn and Nidoqueen bred..."


Mewtwo felt anger rise up in him, but he fought it back down enough to keep from lashing out.  "If there is anything that you wish to know about my clones, I will tell you.  Just... do not hurt them."

Domino nodded. "Yeung hasn't been with us for very long.  He came to us not too long after Steiner, they used to work together, hold pretty much the same beliefs, though Yeung's a bit more reserved.  He knows when to rein himself in, but he also likes to, ah... indulge his curiosities."  She glanced to the door.  "It took me some finangling to get you out of that lab.  Yeung's set on studying you.  I mean, yeah, we're keeping him occupied with Mewtwo, but he wants to add you to his roster."  She leaned forward, fixing Meowth in her gaze.  "He hasn't done anything to you, has he?"


Mewtwo was quiet for a moment before he finally relented. "Very well.  What do I need to do?"

"Nothing right now," Yeung nodded and busied himself with something on the counter, "just sit tight for a couple hours.  I'm giving your pancreas a workout, so in a couple hours, I'll test your blood again and see how you did.  If you feel faint, though, let us know."  He turned around to face James, Joe, and Ryuta.  "If you want to ask it anything, go for it.  Like I said, most of this test is just a waiting game.  The thing is, though, Mewtwo can't be up and about, in case it faints.  Safety precaution."  He turned his back to them and went about his work.

Mewtwo glared at Yeung, then looked to the others. "May as well interrogate me once more..." He trailed off, looking to James. "How are my clones?"

Yeung had just finished drawing some blood when James entered. "Glad you can join us, we're going to be stuck here for a while," he bandaged the injection site and handed Mewtwo a cup of liquid. "Drink this.  It's not going to taste good, but you need to drink all of it."

Mewtwo glowered, snatched the cup away, and downed it in one gulp, only to recoil in disgust.  He sat there in silence, glaring out at the others from his hooded eyes.  He had spent most of the day being poked and prodded, only to be poked and prodded some more, with more poking and prodding to come. "Is this absolutely necessary?  I was told that I was only to be examined."

"And that's what we're doing," Yeung nodded. "This test is just to make sure that your body is functioning as it should.  It runs a little long, but it really can't be helped.  People have to take this test sometimes, too."  He looked to James again.  "We're running a glucose tolerance test, so Mewtwo will need to be monitored for a couple hours.  Nothing major, just need to keep an eye on it, as since it's been fasting, there's a possibility that it could faint.  Many reasons for that, one of which its blood pressure simply plummeting, so we need to watch it."

Mewtwo glared at Yeung, but remained quiet. 

"While we're here," Yeung pulled up a chair, "if there's anything you need to ask it, go for it.  Earlier, we were discussing a psych eval, and we're not sure if it is able to read and write.  Do you happen to have any insight on that?  I couldn't find anything in its records."


Since Meowth was dropped off, Domino had taken the opportunity to snap his picture--though his expression was that of bewilderment--and put together an ID card, which she printed out, attached to a lanyard, and handed to Meowth.  "Here.  Keep this on you at all times.  That should keep Yeung's mitts off of you.  He can't seem to understand what I meant about no testing my agents."

She paused, then looked at James. "Oh, Yeung said something about running some two-hour test on Mewtwo later.  Find out when, because it's not like it'll be doing anything else at the time, so we could get some more information from it.  Up to Meowth if he wants to join you, but I'd advise having him hide out in here."

Yeung nodded. "Well, we can get started with the eval.  I would suggest that we start the eval during the glucose tolerance test, but there are some side effects that we should watch out for, and it would be best if Mewtwo took the psych eval on a full stomach.  However, during the glucose test, Mewtwo should be closely monitored, as it could faint during the test, usually within an hour after drinking the glucose solution."  He nodded to the holding cell.  "Let's get this out of the way, get a baseline blood sample, and then we'll need to figure out something to pass the time until the end of the test."


Domino raised an eyebrow and quickly checked her records.  "Steiner."  She shook her head slowly.  "Alright, I'm sending a team to their location.  I'm still getting signals from Jessie's comlink, so we can track her, but I haven't been able to actually call her.  I'll send Slade out there now..." she trailed off, grabbing her own comlink. "Slade, got an emergency assignment for you.  I'm sending you the coordinates right now.  ... Yeah, get your best guys together and head on over.  We have some agents who are in trouble.  ... Yeah.  Steiner.  ... Honestly, I don't care.  Bring the agents back alive.  I don't care about Steiner. ... No, he doesn't know.  It's none of his business.  ... Just get to those coordinates immediately.  Keep me updated.  Over and out."

Putting down her comlink, she double-checked the coordinates and resent them. "Okay, Slade's taking his team."  Looking to James, Domino gave a nod.  "He'll make sure to get Jessie back alive."

Blargh, stomach!  All I ate was a muffin, and you have to protest it?  I just want to be able to eat something without having to be leashed to the damn bathroom afterward!

This is no doubt less due to a bug than it is just due to an IBS flare-up.  Still irritates me as I can't immediately go for a walk without having to rush back to the bathroom.

Posted on: August 15, 2013, 06:52:10 AMMeanwhile, Domino was rummaging through her desk drawer for some cough drops.  That Harley persona was hell on her throat and she wanted nothing more than to drop it, but doing so would betray her identity to Ryuta.  Though, with her half-hearted performance all day, she wouldn't be surprised if Ryuta saw through the the disguise as well as Mewtwo did.

Finally finding her cough drops, she unwrapped one and popped it into her mouth, looking to James.  "Hear anything from Jessie?  I'm working to get Meowth out of the lab, I don't like how Yeung was ogling him today.  I mean, if he wants to give Meowth a psych eval, that's fine.  Really, he should have one, and I think you're long overdue for yours.  You and Jessie."
