"I believe that I can handle the psych eval," Mewtwo nodded. "I have heard the term before.  The other tests, though," he trailed off, rubbing his neck tube again.  With his other hand, he gestured and focused on stacking the cookies into a pyramid.  He flicked his fingers and the pyramid tumbled into a pile of cookies, with one or two landing just shy of the plate's rim. "When he squeezed it and caused my limbs to go numb, it startled me, to say the least.  That was why I was testing my powers."  He stopped rubbing his neck tube and reached across the table to grab one of the cookies.

"Not bad, not bad, particularly for a learned behavior," Yeung nodded, finally returning to his seat.  He picked up his smartphone and ended the recording session, saving the video and pocketing the device.  "Alright, well I'm done here.  When you're ready, meet me in Interview Room 3 and we'll do the eval."  Gathering his papers, he stacked them, rapped their ends on the table, then tucked them under one arm, stood, and left the cafeteria.

Waiting until Yeung was out of earshot, Mewtwo relaxed. "Finally."

Mewtwo nodded slowly. "I still do not know what I am."

"So, how do other people respond when you talk?" Yeung looked to Meowth again. "Are you able to read and write?  What is your grip strength?  Are you able to use tools?  I noticed that you had some difficulty with silverware, due to the lack of an opposable thumb."  He stood and walked over to Meowth, taking his hand and spreading the digits. "Your paws are no different from a normal Meowth, built primarily for ambulation, rather than fine manipulation."  He let go and walked around the table, grabbing Mewtwo's hand and spreading the digits. "Whereas Mewtwo here has a highly-developed opposable thumb, hands built for manipulating objects, a far cry from the almost vestigial arms of a Mew."

Mewtwo ripped his hand from Yeung's grip and ignored him.

Yeung didn't take any offense to the action and returned to Meowth, pointing to the unopened water bottle.  "Could you open that, please?  I'd like to get a sense of your motor skills."

I have discovered the Zapmolcuno.

Anywho, since Steiner apparently isn't returning Yeung's calls, he can go ahead with Plan B and start messing with the cards.  Particularly if Heirophant is forced to leave any of the other cards behind.

Yeung nodded slowly.  "You could write Shakespeare.  That story would make for a wonderful production."

"It is quite tragic a tale," Mewtwo nodded, mostly concentrating on spinning the water bottle.

Yeung glanced over and watched him for a moment. "Bored, or just practicing?"  He pointed to the bottle.  "I notice that you gesture when using your abilities.  Does that help you?  Is it easier to focus when you make gestures?"

Mewtwo didn't respond right away, instead slowing the bottle and then grabbing it.  He took a drink and set it down. "I am directing my powers, though I do not need to gesture all the time, particularly if I am focusing on a number of things at once."

"So, why were you doing that?" Yeung again pointed to the bottle. "In social situations, if you did that around people while they were talking, we'd consider it rude and distracting.  We'd think that you're bored, or not paying attention.  Do you understand why I ask this?"

"I was paying attention," Mewtwo didn't look up, but instead reached behind his head to rub his neck tube. "I was just ensuring that I could still function properly.  Do not touch me in that manner again."

Yeung folded his arms. "You must understand that that is a fascinating structure, and we're not entirely sure what it is.  The imaging results show it to be a secondary spinal cord, or possibly the primary spinal cord.  For all we know, it's either a physical manifestation of your psychic connection--your creator's definition, not mine--or a rare mutation of spina bifida.  That's why I'm ordering a biopsy and spinal tap, along with an MRI to get a better look at it."  He glanced at his notes. "With the inclusion of major blood vessels in that structure, we may be looking at more than a simple neural tube defect."

Mewtwo narrowed his eyes and returned his focus to his meal for a moment.  He glanced up at Meowth. "That female was foolish for spurning your affections.  You had worked hard to become who you are now.  Her belief that you were a 'freak' is shallow and petty."  He glanced down at his meal for a moment, then returned his gaze.  "Though, I do have to ask, since I still ponder this question myself...  Do you see yourself as a Pokemon or a person?"

Yeung nodded. "Did you succeed?  And since your physiology is more suited to quadrupedal ambulation, how is your back?  Do you have any discomfort?  Judging by how quickly you became fluent in our language, then it lends to the belief that Pokemon are capable of understanding our language, but largely incapable of expressing it themselves, save for you and any telepaths, such as Mewtwo.  At first, its fluency was attributed to its hybridized genome, but now it doesn't seem that way."

Mewtwo listened to the exchange, focusing mostly on his meal.  Finishing a few more bites, he decided to do a quick test of his powers, to ensure that everything was still in working order.  Focusing on the bottle of water, he gestured slightly, moving his hand in a small, circular pattern, and the water inside the bottle began to follow suit, swirling into a small whirlpool.  After a while, the bottle itself was spinning on an axis, mainly due to inertia from the torrent inside the bottle.

Quickie nodded.  "If you can, could you ask how Mewtwo's doing?  Tell him I said 'hi,' and to sit tight, we're on the case?"

Quote
"For quite some time," Meowth said, standing proudly on his chair and rubbing his curled paws on his chest, "It was a hard process and for a different reason than to translate for my language-barred compatriots, but in the end, it was worth the labor."

Yeung nodded, taking notes. "What made you decide to do this?  Are you literate?  The structure of the throat and palate doesn't seem conducive for speech, aside from vague approximations, though you're very articulate and you have good enunciation.  Though, that accent of yours is interesting.  I assume it was a dialect you were exposed to?"

Mewtwo watched the exchange, rubbing his neck tube with one hand.  The numbness had since subsided, though the tube itself ached slightly from being squeezed.

I didn't come up with any conclusion from a Google search.  Looks to be based on several moths, as the results I've gotten showed an entirely different moth.

And lol.

I wanted to do laundry tonight, but I'm two quarters short of being able to even dry the damn stuff.  I have fifty cents in assorted change, but no extra quarters, and the damn laundry room has no change machine.  I guess I could hoof it to the laundromat two miles south for TWO DAMN QUARTERS.

Amazon might even have a seller that has access to non-Bluefin releases.

Anywho, I changed my setup ever so slightly.

Zuckuss looks like he's trying to figure out what the hell Mewtwo is doing.

Hm...

It might end up that way.  I was hoping that Steiner could join in for it, but it's not looking likely.

Though, since the Institute has the cards... perhaps we could work with that... Card-based Shadow Pokemon.

James compresses his lips at the thought of helping Mewtwo while his clones could still be having a hard time getting used to examinations even normal Pokemon find harmless and quick to finish.

"Well...I'll just leave the assistance to the psyche eval to my colleague and that handler the officers insisted on accompanying Mewtwo," he said, "I really should keep an eye on the clones since my talking friend over there warned me that some of them might not be familiar with evaluations other Pokemon have gotten used to dealing with."

"That's fine," Yeung put his notebook aside and stood, walking over to stand behind Mewtwo.  He studied the neck tube for a moment. "Hold your fork still for a moment, please," waiting until Mewtwo did as he was told, Yeung carefully compressed the fleshy tube, causing Mewtwo to drop the fork onto the table, "hm, interesting..."

"Let go," Mewtwo growled, trying to force his limbs to cooperate as a prickly sensation started to creep in.

"Do you feel any numbness?" Yeung ignored the growl.

"Yes, now let go!" Mewtwo snapped.

Yeung finally released his grip on the neck tube, but did not move his hand. "Interesting, interesting..." he ran the length of it between his thumb and forefinger, "we've already imaged it, but I'd like to perform a biopsy, and withdraw some spinal fluid, see what we're looking at..."

Finally able to control his limbs, Mewtwo growled and swatted Yeung away.

"Easy, easy!" Yeung stepped backwards. "Eating in the cafeteria is a privilege, remember that."  He returned to his seat and resumed his notations, this time moving his gaze toward Meowth. "How long have you been able to speak?"

"Nah, whatever he just did seems to have eased that pain. Thanks though," she replied. "Although... if you weren't aware, I tried to stop James during that whole incident when he ran into the garden area I was relaxing in, but right when we had him, he pulled out some powerful attack. Threw us against the wall, hard. Hence the everythingache. Luckily I seemed to have taken the brunt of it; my friends seem to be fine," she explained.

Hierophant compresses his lips at the mention of James pulling out some powerful attack he clearly never had.  He starts to worry about where Tarot Skitty was being held and if the Institute colleague with the Hermit energy came across it, it won't just be Mewtwo, Meowth and Yan-Yan that would fall victim to his dark curiosity.

Quickie also compressed her lips into a thin line.  "I don't like this...  I really don't like this...  If Team Rocket has any of the cards and any access to Mewtwo...  I... just don't want to think what they might do...  We might be screwed."

The plight of Shadowman was so sad in that manga...  Shadow Elder should have emptied that septic tank when he had the chance.

I had a thought.  The battling portion could be glossed over, while the focus is on the trial itself, as it will allow for more campy antics.  I just want to see Winston Payne suffer his uncontrolled attacks of sudden heartburn, and Giovanni to follow suit.  After this, Giovanni will be thrown off the front of the wagon, which will run him over, and then drag him behind it for miles.

I hope his liver is up for it. 8D

Mewtwo shuddered. "Whatever he wishes to learn from you or my clones, he can just as easily learn from me." He watched Meowth work down that big bite of food, then nodded to the still-capped bottle of water. "Require any assistance with opening that, or can you manage?"

Yeung watched the Pokemon for a long moment, commenting to himself and writing notes, and then finally looking to their human companions. "After they eat, we can get that psych eval out of the way.  An interview room is already set up, and I'll need your help in explaining any of the instructions to them, particularly the written portions of the exam.  I'd like to conduct the evaluation on both of them, but the written portion will need to be done separately, as I don't want them influencing each other.  Though, I could conduct an eval on how well they work together, see how they would help each other out."

Mewtwo was listening in, though he didn't make any motion to show that he was, aside from an involuntary swivel of his ear.  He didn't particularly care for how Yeung was lumping Meowth into the studies.  Fearing Meowth's safety, as he was innocent of any wrongdoing and was merely caught up in the consequences, Mewtwo broadcast his telepathy so that the others can hear. "Whatever you wish to learn from Meowth or my clones, I remind you that you can just as easily learn from me.  They are innocent in all of this, they do not deserve this.  Leave them out of it."

"Your clones are fine," Yeung dismissed him. "Don't worry about that right now.  It's only the first day.  We still have much to do, and trust me," he finally looked Mewtwo in the eye, "you'll be teaching us a lot."

Mewtwo nodded and opened his drink in order to knock back a few swallows.  It was simply bottled water, for which he was thankful, as he didn't particularly care to be surprised by some strange drink flavor that he didn't like.  Glancing at Yeung as he set the bottle aside, Mewtwo was hesitant, but decided to simply ignore the man.  He finally went about eating, and though his was still somewhat clumsy with utensils, he had a bit more control and refinement than Meowth did.

Yeung watched them, writing down notes.  He eventually pulled out his smartphone, propped it up, and began recording.  "Meowth physiology doesn't allow for opposable thumbs, but it manages quite well."  He looked to Mewtwo. "You said that these were learned behaviors, that your clone of it doesn't possess them?"

Mewtwo gave a quick nod, but otherwise ignored Yeung, concentrating on eating.

Yeung nodded and fell silent, watching for a long moment.  "Such humanlike behaviors... Mewtwo's are particularly refined..." he was speaking aloud mostly to himself and for the benefit of his recording, "I wonder if that refinement is due to the human DNA, as it takes quite well to such human mannerisms, or if it's all entirely learned..."

Mewtwo almost dropped his fork upon hearing the part about human DNA.  He recovered, glanced at Yeung for a moment, then looked to Meowth. "This had better be the extent of where he wishes to indulge his curiosities.  Though, I doubt it."
