Too bad I'm going to bed right now, else I'd ask if you'll bounce my Kadabra.  She's going to be my other PokeTrap.

My elegant PokeTrap is now at mid affection level.  Susan is interested in the other Pokemon's scent.

(Okay, so it's now time to pull one out of my butt...)

Watching Sakura dig through her bag, Trak remembered something and started digging through her own bag.  Runaway came over to watch, and then started digging through the bag as well until he was shooed away.  After a moment, Trak fished out a wristband and put it on.  It was a while since she's worn it, since Korrina's grandfather gave it to her. "You know, if we're talking about a Mega Evolution..."

The second Trak had stopped digging through her bag, Runaway was once again digging through it himself.  The Alakazam had a compulsion to dig through the bag, not even for anything in particular.  Just the act of digging was enough.

(I forget, was it established that the Tower of Mastery doesn't have the keystone and the Lucarionite?  Or can anyone pull a keystone out of their ass now?)

Runaway took a few steps closer and sniffed the air, then approached some more, still sniffing.

"Runaway seems interested in the other Pokemon's scent..." Trak observed.

Runaway's attention was drawn to the rustling and he tensed, ready to spring into action.  Trak raised a hand, shaking her head. "Not yet.  Let's see what it is, first."

Trak pondered the notion of gathering more gym badges.  She looked to Runaway, who seemed similarly deep in thought.  Reaching over, she rubbed the Alakazam's head. "Maybe later, after our business in Rustboro."

Runaway was practically bursting with enthusiasm at the promise of battling. "Hourra! Je ne puis d'attendre!" Hooray!  I can't wait!

This Sunday is going to be tricky to figure out, as I need to get into church and start rehearsal.  They need my dramatic baritone for the narrator, who is more or less God in the play.

I will be playing God.

The rain has slowed and now it's misting outside, after raining all day.  Other counties are getting snow.  I want snow!  I have skis, ski boots, snow blades, ski gloves, and a snow shovel for good measure.  I'm crazy prepared.

BRING IT, WINTER

Trak shook her head. "Just someone I've seen around.  Runaway will sometimes wander around Anistar unsupervised, so he may have seen her more often."

My muse has been a dried up husk for far too long.  Granted, it's been wild and active in Dreamland, but I can't use half-formed vague premises as a full-fledged story.  Though, this last one I may be able to, as it amounts to a bucket of tropes, anyway.

Trak squinted as the new trainer stumbled out of the bushes. "Wait... I... think I might've seen you before... never caught your name.  Weren't you hanging around the Anistar Sundial last month?"

Runaway finished his soda and burped again.  He took a look at the trainer, pointed a spoon at her, and shouted. "Vous êtes Clefant!" You are Clefant!

Runaway had gotten a hold of Trak's bag and had fished out a can of soda, which he opened and drank.  He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, sniffed, and burped.

Trak reclaimed her bag and shrugged it over her shoulder. "This is what I get for sitting it down for a second."

(Oh, if there are any Team Flora Grunts who have some braincells to their name, they might be able to sway Trak a bit to their side.  As exemplified already, she can sympathize with someone's motives, no matter how crazy they may be.  Loose cannon, easily swayed, and if she needs to get to Rustboro soon, being kidnapped by Grunts may work.)

Trak opened her bag, showing a full team of Balls, and then nodded to Runaway beside her. "We're ready to go.  Runaway's got his spoons polished, and he's itching to get to Rustboro." She started off into the woods, thinking back to the lower-level trainers she's encountered after earning her Champion title.  Such victories always felt so hollow, and even wrong, particularly when a preschooler would challenge her with their Scatterbug, and be full of so many hopes and dreams of becoming the next champion... only to be soundly defeated in one round by whoever was on hand at the time.

Trak looked to Runaway as she walked. "If we come across any preschoolers... be mercifully quick about it, okay?"

"Oui," Runaway nodded.

Perhaps I'm playing too much Pokemon when I start combining aspects of it with Star Wars in weird dreams that would be nice setups for books.

Though, I can't really say that the dream was really Pokemon-influenced that much.  It borrowed names and a very basic design motif for the aliens.  Everything else, such as the socio-political structure of the Trevenant race and the shape-shifting warlike behavior of the invading Zekrom, were more influenced by various EU and other scifi that I've read over the years.

So, weird dream.  A planet from a neighboring system decides to declare war on another planet for reasons that were unclear.  They had begun this war as a coup for eventual galactic domination, and have been targeting the weaker, peaceful civilizations first.  After decimating one world, they set their sights on another world populated by primitive sentient plants.

The name of the warmongering race bent on expanding their empire?  The Zekrom, a mysterious shape-shifting race of warriors.  They desire slaves and more planets to add to their territory.  May as well throw in resources, as they're targeting primitive races on virgin worlds.

The Zekrom's latest target?  The Trevenant, a peaceful race of sentient trees whose population is divided into tribes.

The Zekrom launch their attack, deploying helicopters on the technologically-primitive Trevenant, firing upon their villages and dousing the populace with an acidic poison.  The species is in a panic, as they cannot seem to hide from the invaders.

One young Trevenant, however, has an idea.  His research claims that the Zekrom are basing their attacks on patterns, and that the Trevenant tribes are situated in such a way as there is a clear delineation between the wilderness and civilization, and the Zekrom are using these patterns as a map for their attacks.  The Trevenant suggests that if they combine with the other tribes and constantly shift their patterns "like the shimmering ocean," then the Zekrom will be unable to formulate a proper attack, as they won't be able to distinguish the Trevenant from the surrounding plant life.

The village elders scoff at the notion and say that the young Trevenant is crazy.  Unable to change or to listen to reason, they submit to their inevitable fate.  However, two explorers believe the young Trevenant and suggest they go to the other tribal leaders and request their help, as well as contact the Republic for aid.

Too bad the dream didn't get much farther beyond that point.  Interesting way to incorporate Pokemon, too.
