Illana moved to a spot somewhere near the front, while still avoiding the crowd at a reasonable distance so as not to upset her Pokemon.  Zubat remained quiet, while Scizor cowered behind her, still holding the hem of her shirt in his pincers.  While keeping her eyes on the newcomer, Illana fed Scizor some marshmallows and assured him that he was being a good boy.

Finally, Zubat could keep his mouth shut no longer. "Don't like th' look o' 'at bloke..."

"Don't like the look of him!" Scizor repeated around a mouthful of marshmallows and the hem of Illana's shirt.

Upon hearing Gai mention Petalburg, Scizor's wings flattened and he hunched himself over and got so close to Illana as to almost trip her. "Nonononono... Skee-zor don't want to go in the crib..."

Illana reached around to pat Scizor on the head. "Easy, easy... We won't go in the crowd, okay?  We'll go around them."

"'Ate to say it, but I agree wi' Scizor.  'At crowd's too much fer me." Even Zubat started to hunch over.

As they approached the rally, Illana could feel Scizor's pace slowing, which tugged on her shirt. "Oh geez... crowds.  He doesn't like crowds."

"Put 'im in 'is Ball, 'en," Zubat huffed.

Illana nodded and pulled out the Poke Ball and showed it to Scizor. "You want to go back in your Ball?  It's a big crowd..."

Scizor shook his head. "Nononono.  Skee-zor be brave!  Big crowd, little crowd, round and and round they go!  Skee-zor the mighty!  Skee-zor the brave!"

"Okay, then, just stay close to me, buddy, okay?"

Scizor nodded and resumed his grip on Illana's t-shirt. "Skee-zor brave!  Skee-zor's a good boy!  Good boys are brave and Skee-zor's a good boy!"

"I know, but we might get the information we need," Illana chewed on her bottom lip.  She had a feeling that Zubat was right.

"I'm not sure if gettin' inta a bit o' a scrap'll work.  What if y' run inta a bigger git?  'E'd pummel yer face right proper."

Illana nodded. "Fighting might be a bit too risky.  If it's a rally, though, you might get more info, 'cause people are more willing to give it, you know?  Crowd mentality and all that."

Scizor peered out from behind Illana at Goh. "No crib for Skee-zor.  Skee-zor is a good boy."

Illana nodded, finally getting Scizor to calm down enough to follow her without being so timid or excited. "Yeah, let's go to the rally."

Scizor took the hem of Illana's t-shirt in his pincers and followed her to the door. "Rally!  Rally, tally, tally ho!  Sally forth, away we go!"

Illana turned around and grabbed Scizor by the arms in order to calm him. "Easy!  Easy!"

Zubat heaved a groan. "Y'shoulda left 'im in th' box."

Illana stared blankly at the badge in her hand and her new membership.  Behind her Scizor peered timidly at it and gave it a gentle poke with his pincer.

"That a treat for Skee-zor?"

It took a moment, but Illana shook her head and dug around in her bag for the packet of marshmallows and gave a few to Scizor. "This is a treat for Scizor."

Happily, Scizor chewed on the marshmallows and then retreated behind Illana, the Team Fauna agent's watchful eye making him nervous.  "Nononono... No eyes on Skee-zor."

Illana's own face paled, and Scizor hid behind her.  Zubat let out another groan, knowing a bit too much of the Scizor's history. "'ave fun explainin' 'at one..."

After a moment, Illana put her arm around her Scizor's shoulders. "I got him in a trade a while ago, and I think he might've been abused..."

"A good boy, a good boy, yes!  Skee-zor promises!  Skee-zor's been a good boy, yes?"

"Yes, yes you've been a good boy, buddy," Illana patted his chitinous shoulder.

"Skee-zor is a good boy!  Good boys get treats.  Skee-zor likes marshmallows mushy on the inside!"

In the meantime, Illana accessed a very convenient PC and exchanged one of her Pokemon for another. 

On her shoulder, Zubat immediately recognized the Poke Ball. "Aw, no, yer not bringin' out yer spastic, are ye?"

"Don't call him that," Illana reprimanded.  "Besides, he needs the socialization."

If Zubat had eyes, he would have rolled them as Illana released her other Pokemon.  A Scizor appeared in front of them, and after looking around, it ducked its head and hunched up its shoulders, looking to Illana for approval.

Illana nodded to the Pokemon and motioned for it to join her by her side. "Hey, Scizor.  How you doing, buddy?"

The Scizor quickly went to Illana's side, still maintaining the hunched posture as he shook a bit and looked around nervously. "Skee-zor is a good boy!  Skee-zor is good for Illana!  No crib for Skee-zor!"

Immediately, Illana's face flushed as Zubat groaned on her shoulder. "Ix nay on the rib-cay!"

ANYWHO

So, in the PC, Illana has a Scizor that she got in a trade at some point.  That Scizor was abused at some point in its lifetime, and is a complete nutcase. 

I was thinking of having her get the Scizor out of the PC, as its mannerisms and behavior would tip off Team Fauna, and it'd be a way for them to possibly get deeper into the organization a lot faster.

If they saw a Pokemon that had suffered abuse, they'll be all over it.

Maybe they suckle milkweed milk.

Unless the nipples are weird knotholes.  But, why such weird markings?  To confuse predators?
