Meh.  I wanted a nice image of proboscis monkey musculature and all I could find was one getting checked out by a vet.  Oh well.  Using it anyway.

Now the question remains... should I add a cameo of Nurse Joy?

Being from Gettysburg, I've seen the black-and-white original floating around.

QuickEdit: Though, I do need to ask... Why did it blow their mind?  Didn't they think that cameras existed then?  Haven't they seen other photos of Lincoln before?

At the risk of giving you more ideas I dread what will happen if you draw a realistic Cyndaquil since they are partially based off of echidnas.

Eventually I'll get there, but Ringman suggested Wobbafett.  We're thinking cephalopod.  He's also tempted to design a Haunter, and again, cephalopod.

When in doubt, cephalopod.

Not a spiny puffer fish.

Only modified to live on land.  With hair.  And ears.

I'll give you a hint to let your mind conjure up some freakish imagery.

Terrestrial puffer fish.

Oh god.

I figured out how I would draw a realistic Jigglypuff.

The concept is frightening.

I'll need to draw up a skeletal study of a Hypno, and use that as a basis for a Drowzee's build, which would be an immature, fatter Hypno with a tapir snout.

I looked at tapir skulls, but modifying them to work with a monkey skull wasn't meshing well, so I'm just sticking with monkeys.  Easier to modify, though the narrow pelvis is throwing me due to crotch leg.

I did a quick sketch of a standing Hypno, but it needs adjusted as its center of balance is way off, and it looks like it'd stumble around like a drunkard.  I'll model the gait after monkey bipedalism.

Oh, if you decide to search for pics of proboscis monkeys, most of the pics are of males and they like to sit spread-legged.

Warning you ahead of time so you can prepare yourself. :P

Okay, so there will be some roleplaying elements, not just a straight-up battle...

Basically, what will this RP involve?  Is it all fighting?  Will there be a story?  How much of the story will influence the players?  What kind of shops are you planning to have?  Items?  Armor classes?  Inventory?

Wushu still seems like a logical choice, but since you're including items and such, I may look into a d20 version of Call of Cthulhu.  The system for that would be pretty much the same as the one I linked to, only using a d20 instead of a d100.

Oh, slight update on the battle royal system...

I bounced some ideas off of Ringman and we discussed various systems.  The best way to do this would be Wushu, as it was developed for a forum to begin with.  It can be modified easily for an all-action system, with modified stats.

I'm also looking into Basic Roleplaying System, which is used for the Call of Cthulhu game.  Call of Cthulhu is a primarily story-based system, and I was thinking of modifying it for the forum.  However, if you look through those rules, you'll notice the other rules for loot, experience, usage of a d100, and such.

The parts I'm considering using from those rules would be the resistance table, stats, and the percentage die (which I have).  I'll work on a system from that and play test it and see if it works.

Basically, when we hashed this out, we determined that in order to keep god-moding to a minimum, there needs to be a random element.  The system won't work without that element, be it a table, a coin, or dice.  Having one person as the designated DM would be the best idea, as they can oversee all the other stats.

Modifying Wushu would be the best way to go, as it can be slimmed down to just stats and dice rolls.  I'm still looking at the BRS, though, and I'll do some searches for other forum RPG systems.

On one hand, Cutchick there would work if it was a cartoony depiction, as for cartoon proportions, it's fine (from what little I can see at first glance).

However, I doubt that the artist was trying to do that and instead they just fail at anatomy.

General / Re: Spam from RPM?
« on: April 07, 2014, 11:42:53 PM »
I may have seen one or two of these before.  I don't think it's from RPM itself, but a different entity using the RPM account.  The main RPM e-mail is linked to an account of Vixy's (most likely not used very often), and the spam is coming from that.

An easy way to fix it would be for Vixy to link the RPM account with a different e-mail.
