Coloured pencils are a fine choice of medium (one of my favourites to use, actually), though I would still suggest to work on tightening up your colouring, to make it a bit more solid.  And while graph paper is alright for the time being, I would suggest that in the future to look into scaling up your sprites onto a more professional surface, such as Bristol board.  It may take some practice and several pieces of paper before a perfect scale is figured out, but in the end it will be worth it for portfolio pieces.

At conventions and collectors' markets, there will be a market for these sprites.  You have a potential gold mine in your hands, you will no doubt attract many customers once you put your work out there.  However, since many of us are quite capable of using scissors, X-Acto knives, rulers, and cutting mats, attracting buyers for just the sprites alone may be a bit tough.  Offering a variety of products will bring in a variety of consumers.  I mean, who wouldn't want a Protoman sprite pin for their messenger bag?  Or a Zero sprite magnet to hold up their grocery list?  If you attach clips to the backs, you can make barrettes, too.  I know I would wear a Metal Blade in my hair.

At Ohayocon one year, there was a dealer selling anime emoti-symbols.  These were very simplistic, merely laminated drawings with a clip taped to the back.  The dealer was charging $2 a piece for these things.  And believe me, these were selling quite well.  Another dealer was selling text smiley pins for $3 a piece.  If you were to turn these sprites into pins, magnets, stickers, clips, t-shirts, etc., I bet you would easily make $100 or more on them.

As for requests... I don't have any at the moment.

That TV sounds like it needs a replacing.

Anywho, my day was alright.  Kicked it off bright and early by answering the door in my PJs when door-to-door Baptists came a-knocking!  After that, I had some coffee, breakfast, worked on some logo designs, started a font design, decided I should research some other scripts so my design looks less messy, scanned the logos, and discussed a potentially lucrative contract with someone on Failbook.

Now I'm here with an almost-empty bottle of Dr. Pepper.

Hm... speaking of Kick-Ass, I wonder if anyone else has noticed the censorship of the movie's title on DVD cases...  At a couple stores, I've seen it both uncensored and with a sticker over the "SS" in "ASS."

Back in my day, schools taught grammar all the way into the highschool years.  We learned how to properly construct sentences, how to use punctuation, and what proper nouns are.  Nowadays, schools don't teach grammar.  And it shows in the poorly-structured sentences filled with random capitalizations, misused commas and apostrophes, and the lack of spaces after punctuation.  Seriously pathetic.  This is an age of utter idiocy.

Oh, for anyone who is interested in the outcome of the Spook-Duck-Ular Costume Contest... we didn't win.  So, yeah, bugger that.

Though, for me, Halloween isn't over until the Thanksgiving turkey is on the table.  That phantom face I drew is still on our front door and I don't intend on taking it down anytime soon.

Like those of us who can wield an X-Acto knife like a lightsaber and produce intricate die-cut business cards for marketing design projects...

Anywho, returning to the topic of paper sprites...  They are a cute idea, but I think you may have a better chance of finding buyers if you vary up the product a bit.  Perhaps invest in printable magnet paper and sticker paper and make magnets and stickers.  Also, try putting the sprites on heavier-stock paper and laminating them, then attaching pins to the back.  With a larger variety in the products that you can make with the paper sprites, you may be able to find some buyers at local conventions and dealers' markets.  Perhaps see about setting up a stand at a local flea market or mall.

Also, if you plan to sell these, I would suggest tightening up your colouring a bit more.  Perhaps use Prismacolor markers or even paints.  The more professional you can make your work, the better the chance of attracting buyers.

Nope.  That's all pencil.  If the pencils are dark and clean enough, by playing with the levels (Image--> Adjustments--> Levels), you can usually play around with the sliders for Shadows, Midtones, and Highlights until you get the pencils dark enough to look like inks.

Sometimes, playing the the threshold (Image--> Adjustments--> Threshold) will sharpen up the linework, but that can also make it a bit jaggy.

Just some tips plucked from the DC Comics Guide to Digitally Creating Comics.

I just scanned it in, darkened the linework by adjusting the levels, replaced any leftover blue from my non-photo blue pencil that the scanner picked up, further adjusted the levels, then made it black-and-white.

And, for the hell of it, here's just the background sketch that I used for the above pic.  I scanned it in at 200 dpi, so if anyone needs a quick sewer/underground background and doesn't feel like drawing one, you can use this one.

Yeah, I do all my colouring in Photoshop.  That one was mainly an experiment.  I did it like how I usually colour, only instead of just shading via large pools of colour, I dropped the brush size down to 3 pixels and treated it as if I were using my coloured pencils.  No real uniform strokes, just colouring and blending mostly.

Pepan's (the Kubaz with the crowbar) colour palette was the same one I used with a coloured pencil drawing.  In the coloured pencil drawing, I used some things I learned from Photoshop, like using purple to shade.  So, Pepan's shading is Orchid, from a box of Prang coloured pencils.  Using various shades of purple for shading produces some nice results.  It may seem weird to use it, but if you look closely, there are a number of things that, in the right light, will take on a purplish cast.

There is.  Advertisements are not permitted and advertising one's eBay auction is still considered advertising.  Therefore, locky locky and the link has been exterminated.
