Well, I'm all moved to my new apartment and got the Internets.  I'm still in need of furniture, but I at least have a bed with a broken box spring.  Oh boy!

The tank is just a touch tank and the stingrays are under constant supervision.  Every single animal in that tank is venomous, including the sea robin.  And the sea robin can sting easier than a stingray can, as all of its barbels are right there, sticking out. 

Stingrays are social, docile, and curious animals, though.  They make good touch tank specimens for that reason.  Most accidents and fatalities happen when they're stepped on.  Otherwise, they don't mind being pet and I have touched the stinger a few times as a stingray would swim under my hands.

I got to pet stingrays and a sea robin.  The sea robin likes me, as it would swim passed everyone else, just out of reach, until it got to me, where it would nudge my arm and swim around it so I can pet its belly.

Just after feeding, one of the stingrays swam over to investigate my hand and after determining that I was not food, swam away disappointed. XD

Hm.  I scan at 200 DPI as well, with an HP Scanjet.  But, my colored pencils still come out a bit muddled until I adjust the noise and resize the image.  I'll need to play around, it may be my paper quality, too, as I use a smooth texture.  Perhaps if I color on a rougher texture, it may hold the colors better...

When you layer on colors, do you have any underlying sketching aside from the linework, like any light monochrome shading?  Or do you just go right to the coloring?  I start with a monochrome shading for reference, then start layering.  Perhaps it's my methods, or even the brand of pencils I use.  Hm, I'll need to play around and see what works best with the scanner...

Next week, I go sign my lease and pay my security deposit and move to a new apartment.  That also includes setting up utilities, such as the Internet.  So, I'll be around when I get things all said and done.
