"He has thoughts like that, off and on, though yesterday may have brought it about," Quickie shrugged.

Quickie shook her head.  "All of mine are at a refuge.  And Mewtwo and I had a discussion last night concerning this.  Well, concerning whether I see him as a Pokemon or a person."

(Very well...  Going Wushu DM for this moment and setting the scene...)

It was going on mid-afternoon as the group set out on their new journey.  They were gathered in a loose collection, with a couple pairs, people walking alone, and a few stragglers.  It was an odd and disorganized assemblage.  Lt. PB and Karen were at the head of the group, exchanging an almost constant string of banter, while Pyro trailed almost immediately behind them.  He was, as usual, in his own little world--but, that's okay.  They know him here.

A few paces behind were Sakura and Sapph, walking together, though apart as they were focused on their own, personal agendas.  One step behind them was Dr. Wily, though he carried himself as if he did not belong; arms held close to his body, shoulders rolled forward, and watching the underbrush.  Sidled somewhat behind his elbow was Quickie, who was maintaining contact with Mewtwo, who lagged several steps behind them, darting from tree to tree.

For the first leg of their journey, their chatter was intermittent, with a few comments tossed between the trainers before topics were left dangling behind.  The previous day's events still weighed heavily on their minds as they walked.

(There.  Got us into the countryside.)

Once this thread reaches 1,000 pages, it should be locked and a new thread started.

(Quickie's outside, Mewtwo's skulking in the shadows, I have nothing to add, so we may as well just get the show on the road.)

Quickie met Pyro at the door and nodded behind her. "Mewtwo will meet us behind the Pokemon Center." She readjusted her bag and followed Pyro. "We had a chat last night on his current state of affairs and how he'd best travel without being seen."  </phone>

It's getting late and my brain is shutting down for the night.  I at least was able to get in a copy-edit before it called it quits.

It's a weird squawking sound.

Speaking of caterwauling...

I saw a kitty outside my apartment and I said hello and the kitty came running over.  I went outside, pet and cuddled her, she meowed, I opened my door, she came right in and up the stairs, and I cooked up a chicken patty to feed her.

I hooted back and another hooted, then a bunch hooted and a couple were caterwauling.  Then, they all got quiet.  One hooted again and I hooted back.

Should I hoot back?

(Cutting to Giovanni real quick...)

The night had crawled along as Giovanni sobered up.  He cracked his neck, checked his watch, then stood to get himself some coffee.  His office smelled like a stale cigar and evaporated alcohol, and the back of his throat was coated in a sticky film that made him gag.  Putting the pot on the burner, he walked to his small bathroom and splashed water on his face.  "What are you doing to yourself?"  His reflection stared back with weary eyes.

He walked back into his office and stood by the coffee maker, waiting as it bubbled and sputtered, hissed and groaned, and filled his mug with the dark, bitter morning in liquid form.  You had gone without sleep before.  This isn't any different.  He took the mug from the coffee maker and downed a long, hot swallow.  He returned to his desk and sat, drinking his coffee.  Since he could not make much headway with the printout, he turned his attention to the Mewtwo Project and began to review the files.

It had been so long since he had read up on this...  So many scientists whom he had worked with, so much money sunk into a project which produced an aggressive killing machine that had the gall to not only talk back to him, but run away, leaving a pile of rubble in its wake.  A ruined laboratory, a ruined gym, and a gaping hole in his budget that went to that unholy genetic terror.  His other assistants were right.  Giovanni should have killed the beast when he had the chance.

But, Mewtwo was still very much alive.  This struck Giovanni as surprising.  The only remaining scientist on the project had told him that the surviving clone would most likely suffer genetic abnormalities.  If he recalled correctly, that scientist told him that while the genes were the same, they were often expressed incorrectly.  This accounted for the shortened lifespans, abnormal growth, and other aberrations he had seen that day when he toured the facility.  For all intents and purposes, Mewtwo should be dead.  Yet, it somehow survived the process, was grown to maturity, and survives even to this day.

Giovanni rubbed his temple with one hand while drinking his coffee.  He needs to find that remaining scientist.  The man had left his employ soon after the beast had destroyed the lab.  Though, off and on, he had maintained a loose contact with the scientist.  Research grants help considerably with maintaining a business relationship, and Giovanni's finances allowed for him to continue such partnerships for a very long time.

Sitting his coffee mug on his desk, he began to search his contact lists.  He needed to find Dr. Wily.

(All yours, Sakura.)

(Time to commandeer and get this show on the road!)

Zuckuss nodded. "4-LOM is right.  It would be foolish to destroy the locks while we're still outside of it..." He followed 4-LOM up the ladder.

After glaring hard at Fett, Bossk finally relented, seeing Greedo take to the ladder before him.  The Rodian was shaking his head as he climbed, muttering something under his breath that Bossk did not catch.  Deal with Greenie later... Bossk mused as he climbed the ladder and crowded into the airlock.

Fett waited until an unusually-silent IG-88 climbed the ladder before he joined the rest of the group.  He considered Bossk's behavior as he climbed.  The Trandoshan will be the death of them all if someone did not reel him in.  But, should Bossk wind up hoisted on his own petard, he would have no one to blame but himself.

(That should be everyone.  Now, IG-88... You're a droid, too.  You can do all the same things that 4-LOM does.  It certainly wouldn't hurt to have another logic-driven character in a leadership position. :P)

(So, unless someone has something planned to happen overnight, should we just cut to the next day, or skip ahead to that something?  About all I could even think to add before just cutting to when they finally all head out would be some bits about Giovanni falling hard off the wagon and being dragged behind it.)

"Well..." Quickie hastened to speak, "My place is across the street.  There's room in the living room, and if Mewtwo plans on staying out all night, you could ask him about taking his room..."

"If we are to travel, then I will need my rest.  I had worked all day and to be quite blunt, I am very tired," Mewtwo cut in, getting to his feet.

"Well, there's still my living room," Quickie shrugged.

Certainly more interesting than my packing.  I packed up my portfolio and clothes for my trip.  Then, I tried to unclog a tub drain.  Then, I washed the tub.  Then, I put the dishes in the dishwasher, which I plan to run when I go to bed.

EXCITING.

Quickie shrugged.  "Considering that Mewtwo is nocturnal, I've grown accustomed to his prowling.  His night is just getting started."

If one were paying attention, they would see a brief flash of a smile across Mewtwo's face, before his expression resumed its usual stoic countenance.

Quickie nodded and stood, slinging her bag over one shoulder.  "I'm ready.  Got our things packed."

Better than Adventures in Adulthood.

My latest adventure involves stubborn plumbing, cleaning, and lacking enough quarters to do laundry.

Mewtwo's response was a slight shrug.  "There were other experiments that the humans were undertaking during my creation.  What they were, I cannot say.  There are a few... gaps... in my memory."
